2013/2014 ACADEMIC YEAR HOUSING BENEFIT FOR STUDENTS - You are a student You live in an apartment, a hostel, a residence, a furnished apartment or a student room You pay a rent You may be eligible to receive a housing benefit from the Caf (Caisse d’allocations familiales1). Go to our website www.caf.fr Information that we need : - Your income in 2011 - Your bank details (RIB : relevé d’identité bancaire) - The amount of your rent Good to know : - You can’t receive this benefit if the landlord is a member of your family - The contract has to be under your name - You will receive the benefit one month after the month your application is accepted. Besides, there is always a one-month delay to get the benefit on the bank account. For example : You start living in an apartment on September and you apply immediately for a housing benefit. You will not get a benefit for your rent of September but for your rent of October and the following months. Plus, you will get the money on your bank account in November. Besides, if you leave the apartment in the end of May (don’t forget to report it to the Caf !), you will get your benefit for the last rent on your bank account in the mount of June. - Apply for housing benefit as soon as possible: it is not retroactive! For example, if you apply in December, you will not get a benefit for the rent you have paid in October and November. - The benefit amount depends on the income you had two years ago (in 2011).
