Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year at the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District
(BBHCSD)! The Parent School Organization (PSO) is pleased to provide you with the District Calendar/
Directory for this year. Anyone who has an interest in the BBHCSD is eligible to be a PSO member. The only
membership requirement is payment of dues. A portion of the dues collected are used to fund, assemble and
distribute the Calendar/Director for use inside and outside of the BBHCSD. Many thanks go out to the BBH
families, staff and administration for joining, financially supporting and volunteering for the PSO!
The Calendar/Directory has a wealth of information with everything from:

All school building phone numbers and bell schedules
Transportation Center staff and emails
Events happening throughout the school year
Listing of club and organizations offered throughout the district
Athletic schedules
PSO Unit Board member’s names and emails
PSO Unit Committees/Chairperson names and emails
The PSO believes if we communicate our mission and vision well, parents will be more inclined to want to
help the PSO by volunteering and participating in activities sponsored by the PSO. The PSO and BBHCSD

had monthly meetings or gatherings where you can obtain information, voice concerns, share ideas or just
socialize. These events are held both during the day and evening. The PSO Council is the guiding hand for
the PSO Units. The PSO Council meetings are held the 1st Thursday of every month at 9:30am in the CITE
center. Information is shared between the Superintendent, Administrators, Staff, PSO Presidents and PSO
Council Representatives at these meetings. All are welcome to attend. Again, welcome into our BBHCSD
school district and have a great 2014-2015 school year!

Clubs and Organizations
Band Boosters (BB)
Bee Athletic Boosters (BAB)
Band Boosters are the parents and friends of the high school
band members. We work together to promote positive
understanding and support of the band programs among
students, parents, school and community. Our objectives
are to provide the following services and material assistance
to the bands as needed: acquiring, maintaining and replacing
band uniforms; purchasing and/or repairing instruments;
and assisting in the planning and fund raising for trips and
special appearances. Our major fundraisers are the Fall and
Winter Athletic Program sales and the holiday citrus fruit
sale. Our meetings are usually on the first Tuesday of each
month in the high school band room. Come and join us! For

BAB is an active club including parents, faculty, and coaches
who work to foster school spirit and enhance the sports
experience for student athletes in grades 7-12. Funds are
raised through annual membership, a golf outing held in
August, 50/50 raffles, and a Super Bowl Tailgate held in
February. BAB also coordinates individual sport fund raising
in order to assure consistency and minimize overlap. BAB
meets 7:00PM for one hour the first Monday of each month
in the HS media center. BAB is a 501 (c)(3) and accepts tax

Vocal Music Boosters (VMB)
The Vocal Music Boosters Club is an organization
devoted to the support of all facets of the Vocal Music
Department. Fundraisers are held to purchase choir
apparel, underwrite trips, and provide other necessities.
Our primary fundraiser, Ticket to Broadway, will be held
this year on February 20 and 21. This is an exciting and
entertaining evening featuring the talents of Music in Motion and Commotion and special guest artists. An elegant
hors d’oeuvres/dessert buffet and dancing complete the
evening. Please support our students by attending the
performance and gala, choir concerts, and booster meetings. Booster meetings are generally held on the third
Tuesday of each month in the Music Theory Classroom.

Brecksville-Broadview Hts Schools Foundation
Community leaders formed the Brecksville-Broadview
Heights Schools Foundation in 1993 as a way to provide
programs to enrich the educational experiences of
Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools students.
The Foundation offers scholarships to graduating seniors
and enrichment grants for classrooms and enhances
educational opportunities. Additionally, the Foundation
offers memorial endowment funds to honor or memorialize
loved ones. Your contribution will light the way for students

P.A.C.E.
P.A.C.E. (Parent Association Committed to Excellence) is
an organization open to all parents of high ability students
in kindergarten through 12th grade enrolled in our district
or those interested in gifted education. We hope to provide
an open forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns
related to the parenting and education of high ability
children. We also work closely with the administration to
continually evaluate and enhance the services provided

Orchestra Boosters (OB)
S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions)
Founded in 1997, this organization is committed to the
support of our high school orchestra students. Orchestra
Boosters help provide funds for instruments, music lessons
for students and scholarships for graduating seniors. They also help support the students in attending the
yearly orchestra banquet as well as other social events. Boosters holds an annual Holiday Concert Poinsettia sale
and sells bouquets of flowers to honor your child for his/
her performance. By becoming a yearly Sponsor of the
Orchestra Boosters and/or participating in the meetings,
you will help accomplish these goals. Meetings are held
at 7:00pm Monday evenings as listed on the calendar

is a peer leadership organization for 9th through 12th grade
students dedicated to preventing destructive decisions,
particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired
driving, teen violence and teen depression and suicide. For

Community Awareness and Prevention Association
The RESPECT program is an exciting student leadership club
for current 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. Respect
is a program offered through Akron Children’s Hospital as
an initiative to prevent dating violence and to train high
school students to serve as ambassadors who will then help
connect other students who are facing difficult issues with
guidance counselors and other resources.
C.A.P.A is a non-profit 501c3 organization that was
founded in 1989. It is a unique collaboration between
the cities of Brecksville and Broadview Heights and the
Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District. The coalition
is comprised of parents, school and law enforcement
personnel, business professionals, religious leaders, health
providers and other community activists who are mobilizing
at the local level to make the communities of Brecksville and
Broadview Heights safer, healthier and drug-free.
The C.A.P.A. Coalition is committed to improving overall
health and wellness by sponsoring initiatives that promote
awareness and education of substance abuse and misuse,
and contribute to reducing the incidence of alcohol, tobacco
and drug use among youth and adults.
Mission Statement: To work in collaboration with the
communities and school district of Brecksville and
Broadview Heights to promote awareness and education
about substance abuse. C.A.P.A. will provide guidance,
intervention and resources to those in need.

H.U.D.D.L.E.
The H.U.D.D.L.E. program is a peer-to-peer mentoring program in which high school students educate 6th and 8th
grade students on the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other
drugs, while building social skills. In addition, the program
fosters leadership and responsibility among its members
through participation in community events that promote
healthy decision making.

QUEST
QUEST (Quest for Understanding the Exceptional Student
Together) is an informational and networking group for
parents/guardians of children with special needs (preschool
through 12th grade and beyond) in the BrecksvilleBroadview Heights School System. QUEST was founded to
improve communication between parents and professionals
dealing with the exceptional child on a daily basis and to
become an information source for parents, educators, and

August, September 2014
Lunch menus for August and September will be available on the district website by the end of
June. For families without on-line computer access, we will have limited copies available at the
beginning of the year opening events at each school location. Parents may also opt to sign up for
a printed copy of the monthly menu, sent home with their child. This form will be included with
the free and reduced lunch application packet in August, 2014.
The Food Service Department will continue to make healthy and current changes to the school
menus that promote better nutrition. We are committed to making the school cafeterias a place
for students to learn and choose healthy foods that encourage life-long wellness behavior.
