Området er et resultat av en lukket entreprenør- og
arkitektkonkurranse utlyst av Oslo kommune. Etter
at konkurransen var avgjort overtok OBOS som
byggherre. Området ligger i en sydvendt skråning
ned mot Lysakerelven og består av tre borettslag
med til sammen 617 boliger fordelt på 373 i lave
terrassehus og 244 i rekkehus. Bebyggelsen er
gruppert i grender langs to gjennomgående
gangveier. Det er full trafikkseparering, og parkering
skjer under terrassehusene. Et siktemål med
prosjektet var å minimalisere skillet mellom rekkehus
og blokk. Skoler, barnehager og annen service er
integrert i området.

The area is the result of an exclusive building and
architectural competition arranged by Oslo
municipality. When the result of the competition had
been decided, OBOS (Oslo Housing Co-operative) took
over as owner/developer. The area is located on a southoriented slope stretching downwards towards the Lysaker river, and consists of three housing co-operatives
with a total of 617 dwellings, 373 of them in low
terraced blocks and 244 in row houses. The buildings
are grouped in clusters along two pedestrian pathways
passing through the area. Motor traffic is kept
completely away from the residential area. Parking
facilities are provide under the terraced blocks. One of
the aims of the project was to minimise the distinction
between row houses and blocks of flats. Schools,
kindergartens and other services are incorporated into
the area.
