Soggy Sounds DJ
competition
Soggy Dollar Bar has always been
an advocate for local talent and this year brings the 5th
edition of Soggy Sounds DJ Competition. In previous
years the winners of said competition have gone on to
have a successful DJ career including DJ Chubs, Deej
Maestro, DJ King Kembe and DJ Eagle. The rules are
simple: Each DJ has to play an original mixed set that
follow the rules given by the establishment and will perform
live at Soggy Dollar Bar. A group of established local
judges will be on the panel to decide who will advance to
further rounds. Audience participation is a big part of the
scoring so scream and shout for your favorite DJ. Soggy
Sounds will take place on July 9, 16 and 23. Come out
and support the young local talent of St. Maarten as we

The Annual Heritage Photo
Contest and Exhibition
Over 300 people of all ages
came out to Amuseum Naturalis on Friday June 24th, to
celebrate island heritage and enjoy an evening of music,
food, drinks, and photography at the grand opening for
the 2016 Heritage Photo Exhibition. The annual Heritage
Photo Contest and Exhibition was developed by Les
Fruits de Mer as a way to showcase local heritage
and photographers, and as an opportunity to create a
public dialogue about the
unique heritage of the island.

140 submissions for this
year’s theme, The Spirit of St.
Martin. Guests also voted for
their choice to win the Erika
Cannegieter-Smith People’s

Choice Award was Francisco López, with a vivid image
of children on the pier in Grand Case Bay. For anyone
who missed the opening, the free exhibition will be
on view from 4-8pm on Thursday June 30th, the last
publicly open day planned for the pop-up Caribbean
natural history museum Amuseum Naturalis. Amuseum
Naturalis is located at 96 Boulevard de Grand Case in

They are back, this weekend!!
Every summer (if the absence
of hurricanes allows it) the
magnificent Loterie Farm
in Pic Paradis hosts their
Garden Groove Parties with
DJ’s, live performances and
BBQ picnics on the lawn. This
has become an annual tradition
that all locals and visitors to the
island look forward to - every
Saturday for the months of July
and August, friends and families
gather under the stars to enjoy a
relaxing evening outdoors. This
year DJ Em will be spinning the
disks, and Captain Fredo will be
performing live, the parties run
from 6 pm until midnight, and
this Saturday July 2nd, is the
first of the season so don't

Epic Full Moon Kayak
Fundraiser
EPIC, the Environmental Protection in the Caribbean
Group will host their second annual full moon kayak
fundraiser. Paddle under the stars and full moon for a
good cause. On Friday August 19th, 2016 EPIC in
collaboration with TriSport will be hosting a Full Moon
Kayak Fundraiser. The last full-moon paddle was
a great success, so make sure you do not miss out
on this one! The
event will start
at 7:00pm on
Kimsha beach.
Participants will
receive kayaking
equipment and a
short instruction
on how to kayak. Then the group will take off towards
the Simpson Bay Lagoon while the sun is setting.
After a nice paddle, the group will join together and
raft up in the middle of the lagoon beneath the stars
and full moon. After a short presentation by EPIC’s
environmental educator Laura Bijnsdorp, drinks will
be shared. Then the group will head back at a relaxed
pace to Kimsha Beach. 50% of the proceeds go to
EPIC’s environmental education program, which
provides free environmental awareness presentations,
excursions and activities to community groups. And
the other 50% of the proceeds will go to the Friendly
Island Aquatic Club (FIAC) to help them rebuild their
clubhouse roof. Paddle, drink wine, a beer or juice,
enjoy your environment, give back and have fun at
the EPIC Full Moon Kayak Fundraiser. Price per

Summer Madness VII
Deviage Entertainment is back
with their very popular Da Goodness Summer event and
this year they are teaming up with Hennessy to also be the
official after party of SXM Best Weekend. From July 26 to
Aug 1st, Da Goodness will have a lineup of international
and local artists and DJs at various locations on the
island. On July 26 they start at 3 Amigos in Maho for the
kick off party and on July 27 they will take over Ladies Night
at Tantra in Maho. On July 28 they take the party to Le
Shore in Simpson Bay, July 29 to Soggy Dollar Bar and the
grand finale will take place on July 30 at their headquarters
at Tantra in Maho. But the party doesn't stop there. Da
Goodness August Monday Ferry will also be back and will
be headlined by none other than DJ Prime from Holland.
The DJ that started it all will be part of many of the parties
along side some of the best local DJs. Live performances
will also be spaced out over the days by Red Eye Crew and
other local artists. Follow their facebook page on Deviage
Entertainment to find out the exact line up and entrance fee
for each specific party. The lead up to August Monday is
