is a festive community celebration that kicks
off the holiday season. Chelsea is decked out
in holiday splendor to warm your hearts and
get you in the holiday spirit. Local merchants
are on hand with great gift ideas and special
pricing for everyone on your list. Explore the
annual gingerbread house displays, sip on
hot chocolate, and enjoy the special events
planned.

with its 18th annual presentation of “The
Nutcracker” a timeless holiday classic.

Christmas on the (Waterloo) Farm
Saturday, Dec. 5, 10am – 4pm. Sunday, Dec.
6, noon – 4pm. Waterloo Farm.This annual
recreation of the holiday’s traditions includes
tours of the ten-room farmhouse, the authentic
log house, eight outbuildings, and the oneroom Dewey School. Hand-crafted greens,
homemade baked goods, and gift items will be
available for purchase. Free refreshments and
live music will be among the offerings for this
homespun weekend.

toys for tots and teens to be distributed by
Faith in Action to local children.

his appearance on a fire engine and the Chelsea
Community Fair Queen lights the Holiday tree to
start the festivities. Music from CHS choirs.
Visit with Santa & Santa’s Workshop
6:30 – 8:30pm. The Chelsea Historic Depot, 125
Jackson Street. Bring your camera and take a
photo with Santa and make gifts in his workshop.

Live Nativity Scene

Common Chords Concert

bell choir will perform a holiday concert with

10am – 4pm. The Chelsea Fairgrounds
service building, corner of Old US-12 and Old
Manchester Road. A wonderful artisans’ show
featuring unique local talent – woodcarvings,
bears, tiles, folk paintings, textiles, jewelry,
antiques and collectibles, rug hooking, and
fresh Christmas greens. Free refreshments, free
admission, and free parking.

Holiday Concert (2 shows)

Church. A special holiday performance featuring
“Gloria” from Mass in B Minor by J.s. Bach,
“Magnificat” by Mark Hayes, and “Concerto
Groso” by Bloch and a Christmas Carol sing-along. Presented by Chelsea’s talented Chamber
Players with students from the Chelsea High
School Orchestra (Jed Fritzemeier, Conductor),
Chelsea First United Methodist Church Choir
(Kyle Webber, Conductor) and Chelsea High
School Choirs (Steve Hinz, Conductor). Free
admission.
For ages 4 years to 6th grade, kids can shop for
the holidays from the hundreds of affordable
hand crafted items available, all for $1.00- $5.00
New this year: Parent’s Corner and Bake Sale.
The Pam Radcliffe Gingerbread House
Workshop (2 sessions)
11am – 12pm & 12 – 1pm. First Congregational
Church, 121 E. Middle Steet. Create a family
tradition and decorate a gingerbread house for
the holidays (free). Only 100 houses available,
limit one per family – to reserve a house call the
Chelsea Chamber of Commerce at 475-1145.

Tour Historic Chelsea Homes
1 - 4pm. Starts at Chelsea Area Historical
Museum, 128 Jackson Street. $15 per person,
proceeds go to Chelsea Historical Society. Tour
tickets are available at the museum, Chelsea
Pharmacy or call 734-562-2008.
Visitors are welcome to join a docent led walking
tour of the historic homes. Enjoy their splendid
holiday decor while learning about each homes
unique history.

11th Annual Chelsea Light Parade
6pm. Main Street (street closed to thru traffic
during the parade). 10th annual parade featuring
dozens of lighted floats and vehicles, marching
bands, and the big guy himself, Santa! The Parade
route changes this year, it starts at Chelsea State
Bank’s south-end lot (by Old US-12) and heads
north on Main Street to Jackson Street. The
Parade does not cross the railroad tracks this
year.
SugarPlum Tea
12:30pm. Chelsea High School, 740 N. Freer
Road. The Sugar Plum Tea is a festive event
before the 2 pm Sunday matinee performance
of The Nutcracker. Guests are invited to dress
for the occasion and bring their young guests to
this delightful addition to The Nutcracker. Tickets
are available online and in person at the Ballet
Chelsea Studios.
Homemade Tween & Teen Gifts for the Holidays
1:30 – 3pm. Chelsea District Library
McKune Room (Registration Required,
Ages 10-17). Need a present for a friend or family
member? Who doesn’t like a homemade gift?
Make your holiday presents here in the library!
What we’ll be making is a surprise, but we’ll
make it and wrap it that day! Parents, this is a
great time for you to shop downtown, while
your children make you a present. All supplies
provided.
