Björkö (page 8)
On Björkö, which has been called “Sweden’s most beautiful
island”, cottages are available for rent and the island also offers
hunting and fishing. The island is also the homeport to one of the
boat taxi companies in the archipelago. Guest berths are available
on a jetty.
Flatholmen (page 17)
On the small island of Flatholmen, cottages are available for rent
and the island offers a conference facility and guided walks.
Gärdsholmen (page 8)
The small island of Gärdsholmen is situated in the inlet called
Syrsan, and is a centre for traditional fishing and smoked fish.
Customised fishing packages are available including boat, guide
and equipment, as well as overnight cottages for rent.
Hasselö & Sladö (page 10–11)
Hasselö is a vibrant island with a sandy beach, and the Sladå
Nature Reserve. Facilities include a restaurant, grocery store, café,
bike rentals, sea-kayaks, boats, a bath-tub, guest harbour and a
youth hostel open all year-round. Activities include biking and sea
kayaking (bicycles and kayaks can be rented), marked hiking trails,
guided tours and sightseeing rides with tractor and trailer.
Idö (page 12–13)
The island of Idö is situated at the outer edge of the archipelago
and the former pilot station, now a restaurant, is beautifully situated on the hill. On the island there is a café, guest harbour and
kayak rental. Rentals of bosun’s cottages. Eagle and seal safari.
Rågö (page 9)
Rågö is a nature reserve, an idyllic island in the inner archipelago
with a typical archipelago culture; a wooden boat collection,
hiking trails, sunbath cliffs and a sandy beach. On the island there
is also a café, youth hostel and a guest harbour.
Smågö (page 9)
Smågö is the homeport of the archipelago’s barge. On the island,
accommodation can be booked in a fine archipelago style house
with a fantastic view. The island also offers hunting and fishing,
and can be the venue for corporate events and conferences.
Stora Grindö (page 8)
The picturesque old fishing village of Stora Grindö is associated
with traditional fishing and modern salmon breeding. On the
island there is a fish shop, a café and guest berths on a jetty for
day visitors.
Örö (page 17)
In the south of the archipelago lies the island of Örö. Accommo­
dations are available on the island, as well as meals which needs to
be booked in advance, and a sauna.

Loftahammar
The small island community of Loftahammar is a real summer paradise, attra­­
cting thousands of visitors from near and far. During wintertime barely 800
people live in the area but during summertime the population is multiplying
and the area is full of life and movement. Take a day trip - by car or boat, or
why not stay overnight and see more of the area? Loftahammar has several
campsites, marinas, hostels and cottages to choose from.
Experience Loftahammar
Loftahammar has lots to offer visitors, whether
you are doing a day trip or stay overnight in the
area. Stroll around in the marina, eat well at
any of the restaurants, have a coffee break at
the resort at its own bakery or at the ice cream
parlor­. Do not miss the small art gallery located in Källvik and its exhibitions throughout
the summer. A visit to Loftahammar’s Home­
stead is also a nice outing. Do not forget swim­
wear – in Loftahammar there are several really
nice beaches and nice cliffs by the ocean, to
take a dip from!
Shopping
In Loftahammar there is an ICA store with a
good assortment, just a few hundred meters
from the harbour. Outside you can buy fresh
and smoked fish. There is also a cosy gift shop
and the marina have shops selling boating
equipment.
Activities
Loftahammar can boast one of the area's finest golf courses and the town has bicycles, boats
and kayaks. Water sports can be arranged and throughout the summer the local sailing company
arranges sailing courses for both children and adults.

Loftahammar’s highly-rated 9-hole course
is located "in the middle of Village" within
walking distance to shops, marina
and restaurants. It is challenging with its length –
throughout 6380 m from

Loftahammar’s Turistinfo
Loftahammar is located practically in the middle of the archipelago. If you stand with your feet
on the beach, you can see the islands. In Loftahammar you can rent boats and kayaks, but if you
are not sure of the navigation, it is possible to book tours or get transported by any of the archipelago taxis:

Loftahammar offers a large exhibition which takes place the last weekend in August every year.
Several different types of exhibitors will showcase and sell everything from handicrafts to delicacies and jewelry. On Saturday an organized motorcade will go through the community and offer

MarinCenter
MarinCenter is one of the East Coast’s most
complete marinas with 400 berths (of which 50
seats) equipped with electricity, water and lighting.

Stora Grindö
Stora Grindö lies along the sea lane, on the outskirts of the archipelago east of Loftahammar,
with its little fishing village huddled between the hillsides. Traditional fishing with stake nets
and modern aquaculture with rainbow trout co-exist here.
Smokehouse, shop and refreshments
Laxboa has freshly smoked and cured salmon for your dinner, or you can partake of refreshments ranging from a tasty archipelago buffet to an espresso. There are good berthing options
for visiting boats. We can help dinner guests without a boat with sea transport. Please note!
You must make reservations for all meal arrangements.
conferences and events
We organize conferences and island tours for smaller groups during May–June and from August
to October. Accommodations, boating, nature, culture and fishing experiences with good food
in a genuine environment are some of the ingredients on the menu.

Rågö and Smågö
Rågö Nature Reserve is a popular destination with its old farm buildings and beautiful archipe­
lago scenery. Facilities include Hultberg’s cafe, a youth hostel, and a fine jetty where visitors are
welcome to moor overnight. Rågö has a small museum with an exhibition about archipelago life,
and there is also a boat workshop where the Tjust Allmogebåtar association repairs and preserves old commercial boats.
Rågbyn’s Cafe
At the cosy cafe, all the food is cooked from scratch. Rågöbyn’s cafe offers coffee, cakes and
buns, sandwiches, salads and light meals. We have our special Rågö Menu for parties booked
in advance. Between the 18 June and 23 August, we are open everyday 10:00–18:00. Evenings
and other times can be reserved by groups.
Rågö Hostel and Smågö housing
On Rågö, visitors can stay in one of the three charmingly-renovated houses with a total of 20
beds in double rooms and kitchen. Smågö offers accommodation in more exclusive houses with
eight beds, beautifully situated on a hill only a hundred meters from the water.
Smågö
The Hultberg family welcome guests year round with accommodations, hunting and fishing,
corporate events and smaller conferences. Smågö Service is able to provide transportation by
boat taxi or by barge for heavier loads (see more on page 22).
Boat transportation
Rågö is close to Loftahammar. The island have a free-of-charge marina with 50 berths. If you
do not have your own boat, you can book a boat transportation with the hosts.

events, birthday parties and weddings can also

The boat trip to Hasselö
Travel to Hasselö daily from Västervik during
summertime and on Saturdays in May and
September. Boat trips from Gränsö channel
and taxi boats are available all year.

Hasselö Hostel: open all year. Hasselö Sand:
15/6–25/8. Group bookings at other times of
the year. Restaurant Sjökanten: 17/6–18/8
(daily at 12:00–15:00, and evenings Tue–Sat
during high season). Group bookings rest of
the year. Spring and autumn: Saturdays, 5/18,
5/25, 1/6 and 8/6 and 31/8, 7/9 and 14/9.

Eagle and seal safari
Join the Idö activity-guide
on a boat trip to the
islands, each of which
is an undisturbed
wilderness. We guarantee a thrill when
we meet grey seals
or when we see the
majestic sea eagle!
The excursion takes
about 2 hours from Horns
udde and 3 hours from Västervik. The activity
can be booked for 2–8 people. Saturdays and
Sundays departure at 10:00 (6/4–27/10),
other times by agreement. Price: from Cape
Horn 400 SEK/person, from Archipelago
terminal in Västervik 500 SEK/person.
Visit Lotsutkiken
Visit the island's white landmark, go up the
pilot look-out tower along the narrow stair to
the roof, enjoy a fabulous view over land and
sea! The pilot's look-out was shut down in
1986 but is one of the few along the coast that
is still intact.
Sea-kayaking
Enjoy a waterfront nature experience.
Rent a kayak: half day 195 SEK, full day
295 SEK and 24 hr period 350 SEK.
Idö
Idö, on the outskirts of the archipelago outside Västervik, is the
right place for anyone looking for exotic experiences in an unspoilt
wilderness, combined with culinary sensations and a comfortable bed.
Idö Skärgårdskrog
Enjoy a well composed archipelago in-­
fluenced menu at Idö Skärgårdskrog, with
a magnificent view of the open sea, fascinating in all weathers and at all seasons.
During the summer, travel to Idö from
Västervik with the regular sea-traffic. The
boat trip takes about 45 minutes, and 5
minutes from Horns udde, the last stop
before Idö. Open daily 15/6–18/8.
Café and shop
Relax on the patio next to the shore and
enjoy views of the harbor and Norra
Bockholmen. The Cafe serves coffee,
homemade baked goods, ice cream and
sandwiches. You will also find a small
range of food items and fine gifts and
furnishings in marine style.

archipelago environment. Adjacent to Idö

Boat trips year round
You can travel regularly to the central
archipelago (ex. Hasselö Smågö, Rågö and
Björkö) year round. Boat trips depart to
and from Gränsö channel, with varying
times, every day except Saturdays. Always
book place in advance: tel 0490-910 19.

Smågö Service
The Hultberg family offers both water
taxi for up to 12 people, as well as heavier transport. The barge with timber
crane can load up to 40 tonnes and used
for heavy transport of construction
materials, gravel, animals and machines,
dredging and construction of bridges..

Book your private boat trip to the archipelago!
Anna-Pia welcome you aboard the nice taxi
boat Vilda, which is stationed at Björkö. If you
would like a tour or a quick transport to your
destination, we are here for you. We carry up
to 12 passengers. During the school year, you
can also book a place on the school rut, which
runs from Hasselö and Solido to Gränsö
channel in the morning and return to the
archipelago in the afternoon (price 50 SEK /
person). You can also go in reverse direction
(price depending on destination).

Västerviks skärgårdstrafik
Västervik archipelago traffic Travel with the regular coastal
boat traffic from Västervik to Hasselö and Idö. From Skär­
gårds­terminalen in downtown departs frequent tours via
Gränsö castle and Lysingsbadet, all summer. Jump onboard
and enjoy a lovely boat trip before stepping off into
Sweden's most beautiful archipelago!
M/S Freden
M/S Freden departs for Hasselö. The vessel is newly
renovated and has capacity for 150 passengers,
including 60 seated in the auditorium, and 60 on
the sun deck above. Onboard there is café and it
is fully licensed.
M/S Sladö to Idö
M / S Sladö depart for Idö and has room for
120 passengers. There is the option to sit inside
or outside.
Chartered tours
During spring and autumn, you can book M / S Freden and M / S Sladö
for an archipelago tour with the your company, club or private party.
Take a tour of the archipelago or even a whole day excursion by boat
cruise, meals and activities on any of the islands.
