Top 5 tips
to a stress-free
school year
W
e know it’s only August,
but soon the lazy days of
summer will slip away, and it will be
time to put away the patio furniture
and corner lemonade stands and
prepare for that busy time of year
again- back to school. Here are
a few simple tips to make the
transition easier and help you adjust
to the new routine.
1. A couple of weeks before the
start of the school year move your
child’s bedtime back to an earlier
time, as mornings can be the
biggest challenge for children.
2. Talk about the positives of going
back to school and the fun
things your child will learn and
the old friends he/she will see.
3. Avoid taking any big trips right
before the start of school.
4. Establish school-day schedules
for homework, TV, baths and
bedtime.
5. Get your children back into
a routine of having a proper
lunch in the afternoon.

As
parents it should come as
no surprise that children are
notorious for being picky eaters. Often
times, kids fall in love with a few foods;
hamburgers, hotdogs and pizza, and
exclude all other foods: vegetables and
fruits – surprise, surprise! Ultimately this
may lead to nutrient deficiencies. Even
children with the most versatile diet may be
lacking key nutrients, and below are some
examples of the most common culprits.
Calcium
Although everything seems to be fortified
with calcium these days, there are very few
children that get enough calcium in their
daily diets. Calcium is a critical element
for growing children, and is essential for
building strong, healthy bones. The highest
source of calcium is found in dark, leafy
green vegetables that children often turn
up their noses at, so what do you do?
A smoothie in the morning with these
leafy vegetables is the easiest solution.

Smoothie:
Fibre
Fibre is just as essential for children as it
is for adults. Foods that are high in fibre
are more filling, and help children get full,
while containing relatively few calories, not
to mention that fibre keeps the digestive
system working smoothly. Foods packed
with fibre are fresh fruits, fresh vegetables
and whole-grain food products.
Zinc
Zinc is especially important for children
as it promotes wound healing and is an
essential mineral for the development of
proper taste and smell. Children who are
picky eaters may lack zinc in their diets, as
a distaste in common foods is indicative of
low zinc. Some great sources of zinc are
meats, whole-grain breads and almonds.

Opportunities in US Zinc Industry - Market Size, Analysis, Trends, and Forecasts Zinc is the third most widely used non-ferrous metal after aluminium and copper. The single largest use of zinc is for industrial purpose; when combined with steel, it offers excellent corrosion resistance, while its resultant alloys when combined with aluminium produce different components.
