CELEBRATING 25 YEARS...
By Jennifer, Lady Gretton

LOROS NEWS
Last week I enjoyed three special LOROS
moments. On Tuesday I was invited to read from a
list of 25 poems to celebrate 25 years of LOROS
at the Manor Croft Day Centre. I Had a lovely hour
listening for the most part to others reading their
chosen poems. Wonderful! On Saturday I visited
the LOROS shop in Oakham. Imagine my joy on
finding a clean, illustrated copy of Old Possum’s
Book of Practical Cats. On Mothering Sunday I
had the joy of reading from my list of 25 ‘Poems
from the Heart’. In the very early days of LOROS
my daughter, now a Consultant Oncologist in
London, had a valuable week’s Work Experience
at the Hospice; this was a chance to say ‘thank
you’. But nothing had prepared me for the three
joys to come. First a Mother asking that she might
read ‘My Mum’, a Mothering Sunday poem from
the young daughter at her knee. Second, an older
visitor asking if she might read ‘Crossing The Bar’,
a fine Tennyson poem which her late husband
asked her to read at his funeral, before she spread
his ashes above his favourite Bar off the Devon
coast. The poem is now always in her handbag.
And third, a very young visitor who asked to sit
on my knee as she read us ‘The Owl and the
Pussycat’.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOROS!
25 YEARS OF HOSPICE CARE
2010 is a very special year for LOROS as we
celebrate our 25th birthday and 25 years of
care. In September 1985, the first patient was
admitted to LOROS and the dream of those who
had worked so hard became a reality as there was
now a Hospice in Leicestershire.
The facilities in those early days were a lot fewer
and more basic. The inpatient ward had twelve
beds and it wasn’t until February 1986 that the
Hospice was granted a full license to expand
to 25 beds. There was no counselling service,
outpatient clinics, and the chaplaincy and our
original volunteers were organised by the Volunteer
Co-ordinator.
In March 1986 a milestone was reached when
the total target of £1.5 million was raised. In
those days the fundraising target for a year was
£250,000 and it was always achieved. We waited
until the May 30th 1986 for the official opening of
the Hospice which was performed by the Prince
and Princess of Wales.
The last twenty-five years has brought
tremendous expansion in both staff and facilities.

Two extensions have been opened by the Duchess

risen to just over £4 million. The inpatient beds
have increased to 31 and our volunteers now total
over 800. Since the beginning we have ensured
that the medical care, help and support we provide
for our patients and their families has been free for
everyone and is of the highest quality. The patients
are our priority, they were in 1985 and they still are
in 2010.
There are a number of staff and volunteers who
have been with us since the beginning and who
will be receiving our new 25 year badge. We thank
them most sincerely for their dedication to LOROS
over the years and also our grateful thanks go to all
those volunteers and staff who have followed since.

LOROSREPORT
THE COMPLEMENTARY
THERAPY SERVICE AT LOROS
What is complementary therapy?
LEAD CONSULTANT’S MESSAGE
Luke Feathers
“I wanted to give you an update from a
medical perspective on what is happening
at LOROS, and more broadly in end of life
care in Leicestershire and Rutland. There are
five consultants in palliative medicine who all
look after patients staying at the hospice, as
well as having outpatient clinics. Three of the
consultants also see patients at one of the
local hospitals, while two of us see patients
at home.
We train around 12 doctors a year who
work at the Hospice either to become
consultants in palliative medicine, or to
improve how they care for people at the end
of their lives as GPs or hospital specialists. We
value working as part of a team, supporting
other staff and using our combined skills to
help patients and families. As part of this, we
are visiting all 150 local GP practices and
will need to work even more closely with GPs
who will be deciding how money is spent in
the NHS. This is a crucial time for end of life
care, with the new government proposing a
national payment scheme which will affect
how the hospice is funded.
Finally we are involved in developing a local
‘end of life care plan’, to help improve the
care patients receive from diagnosis with
a life threatening condition (be it cancer,
heart failure, chronic bronchitis (COPD) or
something else), through to treatments to
improve their quality of life, enabling people
to have choice over where and how they are
cared for, and then providing consistent help
and support in bereavement.”
The term complementary therapy is used to cover
a range of specific therapies which are offered to
patients and relatives as having potential benefit,
but are not as an alternative method to any of
the conventional treatments. Hence the term is
‘complementary’, not ‘alternative’.
Complementary Therapies at LOROS:
• Aromatherapy - A controlled use of
essential oils which have a therapeutic
effect when massaged into the body
• Reflexology - The reflex areas in the
hands and feet that correspond to the
every part of the body
• Indian Head Massage - A technique
applying gentle pressure in a series of
movements (back, arms, neck, head and
face).
• Relaxation & visualisation - Using
guided imagery to assist in relaxation
• Hypnosis - Helping the patient take
control of a situation
The team provides six treatments to patients
and carers at LOROS and Manorcroft. The
team consists of four part-time therapists, one
volunteer and a co-coordinator.
Team Leader, Angela Baxter, explains their
role: “We assess patients/carers holistically
and are able to offer complementary therapy
on the ward for in-patients. The team also
provides sessions to patients and their carers
in our out-patient department. The aim is to
promote relaxation and reduce emotional stress
by providing time to relax, talk and share any
worries in a safe environment to enhance their
quality of life.”
In the last year our team provided a total of
878 complementary therapy sessions.
THE PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT FACILITATORS TEAM
This new team has been up and running since
April 2010 taking principles and models of best
practice into a variety of care settings within
Leicestershire. The aim is to work alongside
health and social care providers to enhance
their skills and confidence when helping people
faced with life limiting issues. We are a team of
four with wide ranging backgrounds of practical
experiences supporting people at the end of life.
Team Leader, Debbie Broadhurst, explained:
“It has been recognised that not everybody is
able to, or needs to be cared for in a Hospice
environment, yet the majority of people encounter
issues that are incredibly challenging at the end
of life.
“Staff caring for them have not always been
able to access training in order for them to
confidently deal with situations that arise and
therefore perceive they are not providing the best
care for people at such a crucial time in their life.”
The Team are planning a collaborative project
alongside Dr Caroline Cooke (Consultant at
LOROS) and Jill Hardman-Smith (LCP Facilitator
at UHL), to develop a team to enhance skills
when caring for dementia patients at the end
of life. We all agree that working collaboratively
with organisations is a key feature in ensuring
that improvements in working practices are
embedded and sustainable. Part of our role is to
encourage confidence and ensure that all staff
feel that their contribution to care is valued, no
matter what their role is.

WENDY’S
SILVER LININGS
To celebrate the 25th LOROS anniversary,
Inpatients Service Manager, Wendy
Taylor, has compiled an illustrated book
of memories and thoughts. Sometimes
poignant, often amusing and light hearted
the content has been written by former
and present Hospice staff. Entitled ‘Silver
Linings’. You can obtain your copy from
LOROS Shops, priced at £5. All proceeds
will go towards LOROS.
NEW CHAIRMAN FOR LOROS
LOROS is pleased to announce that Professor John
Feehally will take over as Chairman of the Board
of Trustees when Stephen Thomas retires in June
2010.
John is a Doctor specialising in kidney problems.
He has worked as a Consultant at Leicester General
Hospital for more than 20 years and divides his
professional life between clinical work, teaching and
research.
John, who became a Trustee of LOROS in 2003,
said: “LOROS is a wonderful organisation much
loved in Leicestershire & Rutland. For me it is a great
privilege to have been involved with LOROS over
recent years, and I look forward very much to the
opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Trustees.”
Outgoing Chairman, Stephen Thomas, was a
Consultant Otolaryngologist at the Leicester Royal
Infirmary between 1975 and 2008. He joined the
LOROS Board in 1993 and became Chairman
in 2003. Stephen said: “It has been such a great
honour to have been the Chairman of the Board
of Trustees of LOROS and I have enjoyed every
moment working with all the dedicated volunteers
and staff. I am delighted to hand over the reigns to
John Feehally who will be an inspirational leader for
this wonderful charity which is so important to all the
people of Leicestershire and Rutland.”
Chief Executive, Simon Proffitt, added: “Stephen
has shown real dedication and commitment to
LOROS for many years. The charity has been very
fortunate to have had his support and also that of
his wife Sally, who has worked for over twenty years
with fundraising activities. On behalf of everyone
at LOROS I would like to thank Stephen and Sally
very sincerely for all they have done and wish them
well for the future. We are very fortunate to have
someone of John’s calibre to take over as Chairman
and provide leadership for the future.”
LOROS TALKS IN THE COMMUNITY
LOROS is always looking for opportunities to raise
awareness and understanding about the work of
the Hospice. Below are a couple of examples of
recent events.
LOROS were invited to do an information stand in
February 2010 at Madani School, Evington Valley
Road, Leicester. The school had organised a cancer
awareness week for pupils aged 14-16.
The event was well organised and its success
must be attributed to the pupils. All of them
engaged with us, were open and asked interesting
and valid questions. Veronica Mickleburgh, Senior
Sister and Anjana Vaja, Cultural Support Worker
covered the event.
LOROS also attended the Shree Ram Mandir
Hindu Temple on Hildyard Road, Leicester. One of
the Temple Trustees, Kanti Majithia, invited us to
speak about LOROS. Simon Proffitt, Chief Executive
and Anjana Vaja, Cultural Support Worker spoke
to an audience of approximately 600. Throughout
2010, the Shree Ram Mandir has raised over
4
£5,000 for LOROS, with the help of Suresh Popat.
LOROS values making links with the community
and if there are any organsations out there who
would like us to come and speak to your group,
then we would be happy to hear from you. Please
contact Anjana Vaja on 0116 231 8452 (MondayFriday 9am-5pm).

TWILIGHT WALK A GREAT SUCCESS
Hundreds gathered together in Leicester on
Saturday June 19th for the LOROS Twilight Walk.
300 fundraisers joined LOROS at The Walkers
Stadium for an extremely fun night. The 7km Walk
started at 10pm and finished around midnight
with bacon butties for everyone. The fancy dress
costumes were out in full force from Teletubbies
to pyjamas, penguins, horses and fairies.
The Heart FM angels got everyone ready
alongside Leicester City legend, Alan Birchenall
MBE, who energised the group for the warm up.
The entertainment ranged from stunt motorbike
displays to face painters, beat the goalie, market
stalls, bouncy castles and lots more.
Street entertainers created a lively atmosphere
with their fire dancing and stilt walking. To
heighten the mood, African drummers played at
the Highcross as the walkers stomped through.
This even turned the heads of the local public
who were eating in nearby restaurants.
Gill Clear from Thurcaston, who participated in
the Walk, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the event, the
atmosphere was brilliant, everyone was in good
spirits and I saw a very different side to Leicester
city centre by night!”
LOROS are very grateful to the 45 volunteers
who gave up their time on a Saturday night
and without whom the event couldn’t have
taken place.
SAVE THE DATE...
Next year’s event will be held on
Saturday April 2nd 2011 as a
pre-Mother’s Day fundraising walk.
LONDON MARATHON

2010 with £8.2 million of this figure raised
through Virgin Money Giving. Our fantastic
hospice team of runners raised over £39,000 in
aid of LOROS, Thank You to all their supporters
this really is a superb amount. If you have your
own place and would like to support LOROS
through running please call the events team for
a fundraising pack.
STUART JOHNSON’S
GLASTONBUDGET
EXPERIENCE
GlastonBudget
was held from
28th-31st May
2010. LOROS
held a shopping
marquee at
the event selling fancy dress costumes and
were joined by Lox hair dressers, Matt and Ruth
on face painting and a collection of LOROS
volunteers who managed to raise £7,000. One
of the volunteers, Stuart Johnson, described his
experience of the event.
Stuart said: “It was hard work but fun and there
were some good people. I spent everyday at the
LOROS stand with Thomas, my son. I thought
about spending time at LOROS two years ago
with my wife, Pauline and friends. I was proud to
give something back, something my wife Pauline
and I often spoke about.”

LOROS NEWS Autumn/Winter 2010
A SANCTUARY FOR THE FAMILY
By Gemma Peplow
For Asma Rahman and her family, LOROS
provided a sanctuary while her sister was
dying. Mum-of-one Zerina Hingora, who lived in
Hamilton after moving to the UK from Zimbabwe
with her son, spent two-and-a-half weeks at the
Hospice, before she died there in August last year.
She had been battling cancer of the womb,
and went through gruelling chemotherapy and
radiotherapy to try and fight the disease, but was
admitted to LOROS when doctors realised there
was nothing more they could do.
Asma knew nothing of hospices before her
sister was treated at LOROS, but said as soon as
they arrived, Zerina told her: “It feels like home.”
One of six children, there were many family
members who wanted to spend time with Zerina
at her bedside before she died, but fitting in her
friends and relatives was never a problem, as
Asma explained.
“They gave her her own room and some nights
there were ten of us sleeping there; we were
scattered all over the floor, but no-one minded.
We were worried that we might not be able to
ANNIVERSARY PICNIC
LOROS staff, volunteers and family members
enjoyed a picnic on July 4th to celebrate
our 25th anniversary. Around 500 people
attended the event in the lovely grounds
of Ratcliffe College. It was laid on at no
cost due to support from the College and
the generosity of some local suppliers and
performers, including the Leicester Accordion
Orchestra, Studio Performing Arts, the
LOROS Singers, Banjo Dez and a number of
magicians.
President of LOROS, Jennifer, Lady Gretton,

volunteer, Jan McNulty.

help her quickly enough
at home. The most
important thing was
her medication and
treatment, and she had
that at LOROS.
“The staff are
amazing, absolutely
brilliant. In the press of a button. Considering what
she was going through, she was very comfortable
there. She was happy.”
Zerina died in Asma’s arms on August 15,
2009. “She was very peaceful,” says Asma. “Her
eyes had been closed for four days, but she woke
up and opened her eyes. Maybe that was her last
wish, to see us all.”
Asma decided to give something back to
LOROS and took part in a mammoth 12-hour
sponsored bike spin, raising £1,000.
“Three days before my sister’s death, I decided I
was going to do something for them,” says Asma.
“I did it in October, just a few months afterwards.
I wanted to pay them back for everything they did
for us. They were brilliant.”
LOROS BOOTCAMP
CHALLENGE
Leicester Boot Camp was set up to get adults
out in the fresh air, getting fit, having fun and to
raise money for LOROS.
So far £1000 has been raised and Paula
Brennan and Tracey Miles have been working
extremely hard to speak to everyone they know
to make a donation. Joy Szalai has recently
come back to exercise after recovering from
cancer and has done extremely well.
Bootcamp organisers Imogen and Brian
Gordon-Stables are aiming to grow the
boot camps. For more information, please
call Imogen on 07841 437741, or visit
www.leicesterbootcamp.co.uk. Boot
camps run throughout the year on Tuesdays
at 6.30pm and Saturdays at 10am in Victoria
Park, Leicester.
25 CHOIRS FOR 25 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
In celebration of LOROS 25th Anniversary,
Carolyn Necklen, Musical Director of five
Leicestershire choirs, organised a special
fundraising concert in June.
Held at Longslade Community College in
Birstall, with the help of members of Highcliffe
Harmony, Yavana and Cantorum, Carolyn
invited 25 local choirs to perform for 25
minutes each to help raise money in LOROS
25th year. She was inspired to arrange the
concert after reading an article in the LOROS
magazine about the anniversary which invited
fundraising ideas on a theme of 25 or silver.
Caroline said: “I’d like to thank Leicester
Racecourse for donating Family Fun Day
tickets as a raffle prize and Leicester Morris
Men for funding the concert programmes.
“All of the choirs that took part were from
Leicestershire and included two primary
school choirs, several choral societies,
community, church, gospel and male voice
choirs.”
(L-R) Nancy Taylor of LOROS receives a cheque from
event organiser Carolyn Necklen and choir member
Jane Corcoran.

MUSIC IN THE PARK AT WISTOW HALL A FOUNDATION FOR
SUCCESS
The grounds around the beautiful Wistow Hall were
filled with families and friends coming together
for the Rotary Club of Wigston’s annual picnic and
evening of musical entertainment.
Despite thunderstorms throughout the area, the
grounds of Wistow Hall stayed dry until the last ten
minutes of the show. By that time the crowd were
entertained by the 18-piece swing band, Junction
21, and the acclaimed Kettering Citadel Band. The
evening finished with a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ set
and the 1812 Overture backed by a brilliant firework
display.
Carolyn Oldershaw, was once again the Master of
Ceremonies and kept the audience informed and
entertained. Everyone tucked into their picnics and
the LOROS Wigston Support Group provided hot
drinks.
John Clare of the Rotary Club and main organiser,
said: “We are very grateful to the Brooks family for
very kindly allowing us to use the fields surrounding
Wistow Hall and helping us to raise £16,000
towards the valuable work of LOROS.”
Look out for details of next year’s event which
should once again be held in early June 2011.

The Foundation Degree in Palliative Care
is a fantastic opportunity for those working
in health and social care to develop their
knowledge, skills and confidence.
The course is open to all those working,
whether full-time or part-time, paid or
voluntary and is flexible enough to allow
them to study full-time, or follow just one
of our specialist modules at a time. There
are a great range of modules to choose
from, including symptom management,
responding to loss, and ethical and spiritual
care.
Students are given study skills support
and have their own tutor to help them with
the taught sessions and the assessments.
Hospice therapy assistant Yvonne Hamp
is a part-time student, and explained
how she’s already using the skills she
has learned from the communication
skills module: “Communication is such an
important aspect of care and I have learnt
so much that I can use with the patients I
work with.”
If you are keen to increase your skills
or confidence or develop your career in
palliative care, then the foundation degree
might be just what you’re looking for. For
more information please contact the LOROS
education department on 0116 231 8455.

from Rita and Roy Henson, a husband and wife
team who needed the incredible services of LOROS
in 2004/05.”
The trophy for Most Creative Event Idea went to
Lucy and Katie Padgett who arranged a Mad Hatters
Lunch Party at their home on Sun 11th July 2010.

LOROS 25TH ANNIVERSARY BALL
Over 300 guests enjoyed a truly fabulous night
on 17th April at the 25th Anniversary LOROS
Ball held at Welford Road, home of Leicester
Tigers. The ball was generously sponsored
by NEXT and the room was beautifully
transformed by Jigsaw Events.
The evening started with an 80’s hair and
fashion show created by Graeme at LOX
Hair Design, followed by the music of Adam
Thomas and his Dancing Ladies. Matt Poole
compered the whole evening and his banter
with LOROS Patron and Guest, Martin
Johnson, was enjoyed by all.
Guests were treated to a fantastic fireworks
show, created by Crescendo Fireworks and
entertained by the talented Trevor T. Wines
and champagne were donated by Francis Fine
Wines. Over £16,000 was raised.
AND SO THE CHALLENGE BEGINS...
AURUM HOLDINGS
The challenge is aimed at leaders from the top
companies and organisations in Leicestershire
and Rutland to raise funds for two local charities,
LOROS, and PROSTaid.
The challengers have to follow three simple
rules: The challenge must be undertaken by the
challenger and not delegated, the challenge can
be undertaken at any time, anywhere from now
until 30 September and it must be unique to the
challenger.
The launch was held at the City Rooms on July
14th, where Partner, David Radford, explained
the merits of supporting the two charities and
introduced each challenger, sharing details of their
upcoming adventures. These included mountain
climbing, rowing and weight loss.
The winners of the Most Raised and Most
Innovative Idea will be announced at the awards
dinner on November 4th.
Fifteen colleagues from Aurum Holdings began
the ascent up Mount Snowdon in Wales.
After three and a half hours all 15 scrambled
successfully to the peak, raising £1200 for
LOROS.
Spearing Waite
Solicitors hosted
a black tie ball
recently, raising
more than £12,000 for LOROS.
The event attracted over 130 people and
was sponsored by Strategies 4 Tax - a
partnership between Leicester financial
advisers Berkeley Burke and chartered
accountants Sharman Fielding. Debenhams
and Fenwick donated prizes.
VANTIS CHALLENGE
This year I entered
the Vantis challenge.
Vantis gave 50
companies £50
which you have to at
least double. The company which raises the most
money or comes up with the most inspiring idea
wins £5000 for LOROS and Rainbows.
I decided to make hand crafted cards and
jewellery with the help of the patients and
volunteers at Manor Croft, LOROS palliative day
therapy unit.
We managed to raise £882.66 for the
challenge and would like to say a huge thank
you to everyone for their support. The money
collected is going towards a new mini bus for
Manor Croft. Thank you to everyone involved.

GE SENSING PEDAL TOGETHER
GE Sensing have supported LOROS in
many ways for the last ten years, donating
thousands of pounds. Their ‘Pedal Together’
initiative, a cycle purchase scheme operated
by GE, provided employees with a tax free
loan to buy a bike. To transfer the ownership
of the bike, the employee has to pay a final
installment which is given to LOROS.
The Cathy Bown Dress4Less event through
the corporate Vantis Challenge raised £730.62
to be divided between Rainbows and LOROS.
DHL RAISE FUNDS FOR SUMMER HOUSE
DHL Coalville has raised a fabulous £2317 to
support their commitment of building a summer
house for LOROS. To raise these funds DHL
have held several activities, including a race
night, three dining Italian nights and a Call of
Duty competition.
The summer house is typically used by the
counselling team for private sessions with
families and patients to discuss sensitive issues.

DUCHESS OFFICIALLY OPENS
NEW WING AT LOROS
Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Gloucester,
visited LOROS on Wednesday March 17th to
officially open the new Willow Wing extension.
The duchess walked around the whole
facility, speaking to staff and volunteers from
each department and meeting patients, before
unveiling a plaque to mark the opening of the
wing.
Following her previous visit in 2000, the
special guest was delighted with how LOROS
has “evolved” and “developed” since then and
was equally pleased to make an appearance in
our 25th anniversary year.
The Duchess said: “I have very happy
memories of my first visit here. It’s been so
lovely to see everything and to meet so many
members of staff and volunteers.”
Her Royal Highness was joined by LOROS
President, Lady Jennifer Gretton and Matron,
Chris Faulkner, on her tour of the building. She
was later introduced to Chief Executive Simon
Proffitt and various local VIP’s and dignitaries,
including the Lord Mayor at the time, Councillor
Roger Blackmore.
The Duchess also spoke with LOROS Patrons,
including snooker star Mark Selby and Leicester
City legend Alan Birchenall MBE.
‘Birch’, who has been involved with the
charity for decades, is proud to be a patron of
LOROS and was delighted to see the recent
improvements to the facilities.
“It’s an honour to be here and see the
Duchess of Gloucester officially unveil the
new wing. It’s very impressive and this just
seals it, unveiling it today. I first came along
representing the club 25 years ago and saw the
first brick being laid. To see it like this all those
years on is great. To be a patron and also to still
be associated with Leicester City Football Club
is fantastic. I know what a fantastic job they do
here and words can’t describe it.”
LOROS was the official charity for Leicester
City last season, something Alan was extremely
proud of.
“They’ve been our official charity and what a
wonderful place LOROS is. It’s not a place of
doom and gloom. When you come here it just
lifts you. Every time I come here on a visit, it just
energises me and makes you realise how lucky
you are.”
FOUNDERS DRINKS RECEPTION
On September 3rd about 60 people enjoyed a
reunion at the LOROS Founders Drinks Reception
as part of a programme of events to mark the 25th
anniversary.
Those instrumental in founding the charity
or were involved in the first few years after
the Hospice was opened, were invited back to
commemorate and celebrate what has been
achieved. For some this was the first time they had
returned for many years and they enjoyed a guided
tour and a review of how LOROS’ care services
have developed.
Dr Andrew Cull, who was a GP in Leicester in the
10
1970s, but now practices in London, gave a short
speech outlining how he and a group of other local
people, including Mr Mick Marvell, were inspired to
create a local Hospice.
They worked ceaselessly with extraordinary
energy and determination to define the aims,
register the charity officially in 1977 and stimulate
fundraising. This led to an increasing ground swell
of support from the community of Leicestershire
and Rutland. By 1984, sufficient funds had been
raised to progress the construction of the first
building on the old Groby Road Hospital site.
The Hospice Matron from 1985 to 2001,
Mrs Bronwen Biswas, described some of the
challenges in the early years and how the care
services were broadened over time.
Lady Clarissa Palmer and Mrs Barbara Keene,
the President and Chairman respectively at the time
the hospice opened, cut a 25th anniversary cake,
kindly provided by hospice volunteer Jan McNulty.
Local artist, Olwen Hughes, generously created
and donated a pen and ink drawing of the hospice,
which was unveiled by Bronwen and Wendy Taylor,
one of the first nurses and now the In-patient
Services Manager. Prints of the picture are being
sold by Charles Lawrence, a Science Teacher at
Oakham School.
Current President of LOROS, Jennifer, Lady
Gretton, closed the event by thanking the
guests for their marvellous contribution to the
development of the charity over so many years.
Everyone then toasted “LOROS - Past, Present and
Future.”
LOROSREPORT
BUCKINGHAM PALACE
GARDEN PARTY
Chris Jones, Ward Clerk and ex-Volunteer,
recently completed 25 years service with LOROS.
As part of the celebration, Chris was invited to
a Buckingham Palace Garden Party on July
20th. Chris was accompanied by a colleague,
another Ward Clerk, Mo Payne, who has worked
for LOROS for nearly 11 years. Both Chris and
Mo agreed it was a truly lovely day to remember
forever.
MEMORIES…
Marion Rice
Eltham, Australia
LOROS volunteer, Anne Langton, also attended a
Buckingham Palace Garden party with her friend
and fellow volunteer, Barbara.
Anne said: “We will never forget this fantastic
occasion and the privilege of being invited.”
SNACK BAR GRAND OPENING
done to both of them. Lenorah and Doreen are
both looking forward to their next shift in the
refurbished Snack Bar along with our regular
70 strong team of volunteers. The Snack Bar is
open 365 days a year, serving patients, carers,
staff, volunteers and visitors with hot drinks and
freshly made sandwiches and cakes. Thanks to
everyone for their patience whilst the alterations
took place but it has been well worth it.
On Friday August 13th the newly refurbished
LOROS Snack Bar opened. Lenorah Bennison
and Doreen Stirk cut the ribbon to celebrate
the opening after volunteering at the Snack Bar
for 25 years. Doreen works once a month on
Tuesday evenings and always arrives for her
shift with a coconut cake. Since 1985 Doreen
has baked approximately 300 of them! Lenorah
also volunteers once a month at the weekend.
Each of these ladies have given over 900 hours
of their time to the Snack Bar and LOROS. Well
Past volunteer, Marion Rice, who now lives
in Australia, was pleased to write a few
words about her memories from her time at
LOROS…
I worked on Reception on Fridays and
Sundays, two very different days. On
Fridays there was much more activity in
the Hospice; office staff, drivers, more
volunteers and, of course, Beryl if we had a
problem. Sundays were quiet but lovely too
as we had many visitors who couldn’t get to
LOROS during the week.
I also covered Beryl’s office when she was
on holiday. I know you all appreciate Beryl but
believe me until you have spent time in her
office you do not realise just how much she
does for LOROS.
I miss LOROS and all my friends very much
but I keep up to date with everything that is
happening as Beryl sends me the volunteer
newspaper every month. We also have lots
of telephone calls and sometimes I am asked
if I could work on a certain day as she needs
someone to cover a duty, if only!
I must also mention my late, dear husband,
Cliff, who was also a volunteer driver. Cliff also
helped out at the Annual Fayre and if ever
someone needed to dress up for a special
LOROS function then Cliff was the one they
called on. I have many memories of him as a
lion, chicken and a fairy. I do hope some of you
still remember him.
I think I must bore people over here telling
them about the wonderful Hospice in Leicester.
There is nothing like it here. I wish everyone
there all the very best as LOROS celebrates 25
glorious years.

ONE BIG
LEBED HEALTHY STEPS CLASSES
BIKE RIDE
The One Big Bike Ride saw 250 participants
sign up to ride on the 7, 18 and 25 mile
circuits around the stunning Rutland Water. The
incredible weather meant we also had sign ups
on the day as families, friends and colleagues
all joined together to raise money for LOROS.
Fyffes banana man and the Falconettes
cheerleading group start the event. Cyclemagic
also had their Penny Farthings on display.
If you are interested in joining us in 2011,
the third One Big Bike Ride, will again start
at Whitwell Carpark on Sunday May 15th
2011. Registration is £5 for adults, £2.50
for children, £10 for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2
children). We ask that all participants raise as
much sponsorship money as possible to help
LOROS. Call us today to book your place.
Lebed Healthy Steps classes are for people
who have or are at risk of developing
lymphoedema. The classes consist of gentle
exercises and movements carried out to
music. Lebed Healthy Steps can help people
to increase their range of movement and
flexibility, improve lymphatic drainage and
enhance people’s sense of wellbeing.
Movements are carried out either standing or
sitting in a chair so are suitable for everyone.
All movements are carried out slowly and
smoothly and participants are encouraged to
rest or reduce the number of movements if
they become tired. Classes last for one hour
with a break in the middle and props such as
bubbles for breathing exercises and feather
boas are used to make it more enjoyable.
The classes are held at LOROS and are led
by Amanda Honnor, who is a Lymphoedema
Nurse Specialist trained in the Lebed
method. Patients of LOROS and Glenfield
Lymphoedema Clinics are eligible to attend.
Please discuss referral to the classes with
your Nurse Specialist.

A LEGACY FOR LOROS SPONSORED HORSE RIDE SPONSORED RIDE POEM
“I want to leave a lasting LEGACY by
remembering LOROS in my Will”
Leaving a gift in your will
to LOROS can help your
estate avoid an amount of
Inheritance Tax and also help
LOROS secure its future.
If and when the time is right for you, and after
providing for your family and friends, please
consider leaving a small percentage of your estate
to LOROS in your will. This is called a bequest and
will make a tremendous difference to LOROS.
Please contact your solicitor for advice regarding
making or changing a will. You may wish to
consider adding a clause which effectively
enables the executors, at their discretion, to
distribute a percentage of the estate to any
person or charity.
Diane Morris, Fundraising Manager, is happy
to discuss confidential matters relating to
a gift in your will and can be contacted on
0116 2318431.
A brilliant turnout of riders attended the Annual
Sponsored Horse Ride on May 30th. The
120 participants all received a yellow rosette
inscribed with the LOROS Logo.
The countryside around Launde Abbey was
an unknown territory for many and the ride took
about two hours to complete. The senior cup
went to Lesley Collings who raised over £1000.
The junior cup went to 8-year-old Louise
Mawby who raised an amazing £150. Another
cup was awarded to 9-year-old Louise Arnold
who raised £70. The total raised from the ride
for the hospice was £5000.
The LOROS Animal Quiz 2010
or one of two £25
runner up prizes
The Sponsored Ride on a windy May day,
With riders galore it is here to stay,
They start at Oxey, home of the Wrights,
With jodhpurs so fitted they looked liked tights.
Some horses were calm and some quite wild,
Ditto the jockeys but mostly quite mild.
Through fields and woods and the
odd rough track,
They disappeared for hours...
will they ever come back?
The ‘girls’ in the lorry collect the money,
From 10 ‘til 12 thank heavens it’s sunny.
Signing in to start and when they return,
Some still get lost…will they never learn
- to read a map or follow the sun?
Or listen to instructions…excuse the pun.
TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE
WIN £50!
By Ginny Heathcote Ball
Only £1 a Sheet!
Entries to be returned by 19th January 2011. All proceeds to LOROS.
‘Cause every year we hope and pray,
The riders will improve before we turn grey.
The rosettes were yellow and
really quite plush,
Pinned onto bridles which made
some riders blush.
The day was successful and should
raise a few grand,
So thank you to the farmers for
access to their land.

LOROS EVENTS
LADIES LUNCHEON 2011
FEATURING ANN WIDDECOMBE
We are delighted to announce that our 2011
special speaker will be Ann Widdecombe.
As an MP Ann rose through the ranks to
become a Minister of State at the Home Office
and then Shadow Health Secretary in 1998 and
Shadow Home Secretary in 1999. In July 2001,
she announced her decision to retire from the
Shadow Cabinet to speak on issues which she
felt strongly about without the constraints of being
a front bencher. She also wanted to spend more
time with her elderly mother and to devote more
time to her writing career.
Ann is also known for her journalism and
broadcasting. She has written four novels: The
Clematis Tree, An Act of Treachery, Father Figure,
and An Act of Peace, and is currently working on
her fifth, An Act of Brotherhood.
Ann will be doing a book signing at the event and
will donate a percentage of sales from her books
to LOROS. The 2011 Ladies Luncheon will be held
on Wednesday May 18th at the Walkers Stadium.
COAST TO COAST WALK
Aptly named, Adrian Walker, the LOROS Senior
Fundraiser, is calling on walkers from across the
county to take part in the Coast to Coast Walk in
aid of LOROS.
The Albert Wainwright route was created
to cross the country from St Bees in the
Lake District through to Robin Hood’s Bay in
Yorkshire. The 192 mile route completed over
14 days is challenging, and takes you through
some of the best countryside in Britain.
Well over £100,000 has been raised from the
LOROS expeditions and the 2010 team, who
were on the walk at the time of the printing of
the newsletter, will be adding significantly to the
amount. The 2011 walk will be in September
and a new team of ten people is being sought.
LOROS Senior Fundraiser, Adrian Walker,
14
who organises the training walks said: “The
Coast to Coast Walk is a great challenge and
not beyond most people. It gives participants
the opportunity to get fit, learn about map and
compass skills, learn survival tips and raise
funds for a great local charity.”
Whilst all walkers take part at their own risk,
LOROS will help get a team together, provide
maps and advice on the route and a minibus as
back-up.
The accommodation will be a combination
of Youth Hostels and Bed and Breakfasts. The
total costing, including food, accommodation,
and transport will be approximately £650 per
person.
There is no set amount that walkers are asked
to pledge for participating. It is hoped, however,
that £1,000 is raised for LOROS. In the past
walks the average has been well over £1,500
per person.
On average walkers are travelling 15 miles a
day (the shortest day is 9 miles and the longest
21 miles), with no rest days for 14 days. It is
important that everyone taking part is medically
fit and they train to complete the walk.
Anyone interested in taking part in the
2011 walk, should contact Fundraising on
0116 2318431.
If you wish to book a table, please call Fundraising.
This year’s 25th Anniversary Ladies Luncheon
saw 540 guests sit down to lunch with Camilla
Dallerup from Strictly Come Dancing. The ladies
had a lovely three-course meal at the Walkers
Stadium in Leicester on May 12th 2010.
Camilla spoke about her life as a dancer,
growing up in Aalborg in Denmark and her
experiences with fellow dancers and judges.
She also took questions from the floor. The event
raised over £7,000.

WINTER WALK
The five mile
Winter Walk is
one of the longest
running LOROS
fundraising
events. Now in
its 31st year the
route goes across fields from Houghton on
the Hill Village Hall to Keyham Village Hall. This
year’s walk will be on Bank Holiday Monday,
December 27th.
Close to £190,000 has been raised for
LOROS since the walk first started and event
organiser, Trudy Noble, aims to raise over
£15,000 from this year’s walk.
The walk could not take place without the
support and hard work of the local community.
The success of the event also relies on a
number of sponsors and we would particularly
like to thank the Dog and Gun Pub, Keyham
Kennels, Houghton Post Office, Kater4 Cash
and Carry and Bosprint Ltd for their invaluable
contribution.
Sponsorship forms for this year’s event will be
available from the Fundraising Office and other
outlets. Anyone who would like to participate
can contact Fundraising on 0116 2318431.

thoughts.
“The six-day trek along the mighty Great Wall
was the toughest, most challenging feat of my
life, but also the most amazing experience, one
that has left me with a great sense of pride.
“I’ve visited LOROS several times in the six
months since we launched our Mercury Appeal
and I know what a vital service it provides. So
far, thanks to the generosity of friends, family
and Mercury readers, we have collected almost
£7,000 in sponsorship for our LOROS appeal.”

LOROS SPORT
LEICESTER CITY AT LOROS
The Leicester City first team squad, former
manager Nigel Pearson and backroom staff
visited LOROS on Friday March 19th to meet
staff, volunteers and patients, and take a tour
around the hospice.
As the official charity for Leicester City last
season, the LOROS logo appeared on The Foxes
away strip and the LOROS fixture against Queens
Park Rangers, a game that City won 4-0, was
held at the Walkers Stadium on Easter Monday.
Nigel Pearson showed his support by joining
Club Ambassador, Alan Birchenall MBE, as a
LOROS patron.
Pearson and his backroom staff took part in a
bike ride for LOROS in November 2009 as they
cycled from Newcastle to Carlisle, raising over
£3,000. Nigel was delighted that the players
were able to witness first-hand the great work
that the staff and volunteers do.
Nigel said: “I think it’s important for the
players to have some sort of an idea of what
LOROS is all about. I think it’s been a good day
for the people that work here and a good day
for the players to see how things are run. It is a
fabulous facility and the people who work here
are great.”
City goalkeeper Chris Weale agreed that it
was important for the players to take the time
out to visit LOROS.
“We knew at the start of the season that
LOROS would be on our away shirt, but coming
here really opens up everyone’s eyes to what
they do. It’s a fantastic cause and to be part of
that is great for Leicester City. It can only help
the players because if we know a bit more
about the community it helps you become a
better person as well.”
Peru international winger Nobby Solano, who
has since left the club, echoed those sentiments.
“We’re glad to be here and also it’s very
special for the club to be involved in these kinds
of things. It’s sad to see people come here, but
we’re very happy to be here this afternoon and
spend a few minutes of our time with the staff
and the patients.”
KEVIN’S CHARITY FOOTBALL CUP
On Saturday August 7th the
Issitt family held a 5-a-side
knock out competition on
Holmfield Park in Leicester
Forest East. The event has
been held every year in
memory of Kevin Wilson
who died in 2004 aged
22 in a car accident whilst
on holiday in Spain. Over
£5000 has been raised over the years which has been divided between several
charities, but mainly donated to The Laura Centre and LOROS.
The success of the event is a reflection of how much Kevin is loved and
missed by his family and friends, who have decided that this year’s cup will be
the last as they want to go out on a high. This year’s trophy went to Bobby’s
Boys, a local team who also won in 2007.
Kevin’s family would like to thank everyone who has been involved over the
years and say that the support they have been given has helped them to cope
with their loss. They know that Kevin will never be forgotten. Special thanks go
to Phil Ward and Samantha Parn.

LOROS NEWS Autumn/Winter 2010
SNOOKER ACE SELBY STOPS BY
When the Duchess of Gloucester visited LOROS
in March to officially unveil the new Willow Wing
Extension, Leicester snooker star and LOROS
Patron, Mark Selby was also in attendance.
Mark brought his Masters trophy along and took
time out to meet with staff and patients, sign
autographs and have his photo taken.
Mark’s father David was cared for at LOROS
before he died in 1999 and the ‘Jester from
Leicester’ explained how much attending these
events means to him.
“Just to be a patron is obviously very important
to me. My dad passed away when I was 16 and
for the last few weeks of his life he was in LOROS.
Obviously, it’s close to my heart and when I was
asked to be a patron I more or less snapped their
hands off. If I wasn’t a
patron then I probably
wouldn’t get the chance
to come to days like this
and it’s very special to
me to be invited.”
Mark also paid tribute
to the LOROS staff and
how much he values
their work.
“They do some great
work here and there are differences between
coming here to the Royal Infirmary. It’s a lot
more modern and there seems to be more
people looking after one individual person.
“I’ve got a lot of good memories and obviously
25TH ANNIVERSARY AMERICAN FOOTBALL BOWL
LEICESTER FALCONS 22 - BIRMINGHAM BULLS 15
On Saturday June 5th the Leicester Falcons
American Football team helped LOROS to celebrate
their 25th Anniversary and raised £3,450.
The main event of the day was the Falcons’
Division One league fixture against rivals
Birmingham Bulls. Former Leicester City
footballer, Steve Walsh, also did the coin toss
before kick-off.
Saving for LOROS

The Society will donate 1% of the average account balance to LOROS every year. It doesn’t even cost the saver a
penny, the donation will be made by the Society so your balance and the interest you receive won’t be reduced.
Since the LOROS account was launched in June 2008
the number of accounts opened has doubled and the
balances in those accounts has more than doubled!

a lot of bad memories of LOROS because my
father was so poorly. They kept him alive a lot
longer than he probably was meant to be so
I obviously respect and appreciate everything
they’ve done for me.”
GOLF DAY
A young team of golfers, aged 15 to 18 won
the 4th Annual LOROS Golf Tournament held
at Rothley Park Golf Club on 30th April. The
team were named ‘FORE DAWN’ in memory of
the aunt of one of the players.
They raised £1,000 through sponsorship
and team member, Luke Atkins, won the
Men’s Longest Drive. The event was a great
success as 22 teams took part and raised
almost £8,000 for LOROS.
Diane Morris, Fundraising Manager for
LOROS, said: “I would like to thank all the
players for their generosity and the sponsors
of the event which included Spire Leicester
Hospital, SJ Events, Sturgess, Next, Mosdorfer
CCL, KPMG, Sygnet and RBS. Thanks also go
to Rothley Park Golf Club for their support.”
Next year’s event has already been
booked for Friday May 6th, 2011. For

you to Debbie and all the girls at Penneys for
making and donating the beautiful bouquets
that bring such joy to our grateful winners.
IRENE AND PAUL
DO IT AGAIN!
When Irene and Paul Capewell lost their close friend,
Margaret Abbott, who had been a patient at LOROS,
they decided they wanted to do something to raise
money for the hospice in her memory.
Irene contacted Lottery Manager, Liz Singleton,
to ask about organising a lottery syndicate for her
dance group. Liz went along one evening and talked
to the group about LOROS and how easily they
could help.
After the syndicate had been running for a couple
of years, Liz rang Irene and Paul to ask whether they
knew of anyone who would be willing to collect a
lottery round near to where they lived. They offered
to collect the round themselves and have done so
ever since!
After continued involvement in LOROS fundraising,
August saw Irene and Paul take over Lockwoods
Tearoom on Allandale Road for a morning to serve
tea, coffee and homemade cakes. With the help of
family and friends, in particular Richard Lockwood,
the owner of Lockwoods, they worked really hard
serving customers and selling tombola tickets and
by the end of the morning a fantastic £520 had
been raised. Well done to Irene, Paul, Linda, Marian
and their team of willing helpers and, of course, to
Richard at Lockwoods Tearoom.

LOROS LOTTERY
£10,000 FOR
CHRISTMAS
This year as LOROS celebrates 25 years of
providing hospice care for those most in need,
we hope that you will wish to take part in our
2010 Bumper Prize Draw.
The draw offers an important way of raising
money for the hospice, last year bringing in a
fantastic £78,000 for patient care. By taking
part you will be helping us to provide unique and
special care at a time when it is needed most.
The prize pot again offers a whopping £10,000
first prize and the draw will take place on Friday
24th December, just in time for Christmas!
Lottery members will receive tickets in the post
but anyone wishing to take part can pick up
tickets from any LOROS shop, the lottery office
in Glenfield or via our ticket request hotline on
0845 601 6936.
Thank you for your support past, present and
future and good luck in our 2010 Christmas
Bumper Prize Draw.
MISSED CHANCE
On July 16th one unlucky member of the
LOROS Lottery missed out on a chance of a
£900 windfall!
Only a lottery number in credit can win a prize
so, when an inactive lottery number was drawn
as the rollover winner, the member unfortunately
missed out on their prize.
Don’t miss out on your chance! You never know
when it could be your turn. It doesn’t matter how
you normally pay your subscriptions, you can ring
the lottery office and set up a direct debit or pay
by card over the telephone.
SYNDICATE NEWS
When one of Rachel Holder’s LOROS Lottery
numbers scooped the first prize of £2,000 she
was so delighted she asked Lottery Manager
Liz Singleton about setting up a syndicate at her
workplace.
Liz gave Rachel some leaflets so that she could
talk to her colleagues about the LOROS Lottery
and within six weeks an application form arrived
in the lottery office for six new numbers.
Could you set up a lottery syndicate? Do you
belong to a club or group, would your work
colleagues or family be interested? Whether you
would like a representative to call and talk to you
and your friends, or whether you would just like
more information call the lottery office on 0116
2318430 and you could be running a winning
syndicate very soon!

Thank
Early on in the new millennium LOROS was
invited to Grays Court in Barrow upon Soar
to talk to the residents about the Hospice.
As a result of what they heard, the residents
immediately decided to join the LOROS
Lottery.
Since then nearly £8,000 has been raised
from lottery subscriptions at Grays Court and
over 120 winners’ cheques paid out to lucky
residents.
This year Scheme Manager, Sharon,
offered Lottery Manager, Liz Singleton,
the opportunity to revisit Grays Court. Liz
was able to update everyone on the latest
TAKE THE EASY OPTION
April 2010 saw the LOROS Lottery introduce
payment by direct debit, an option now open
to everyone, no matter whether you currently
pay your lottery subscription by standing order,
cheque, card or cash collection.
You can choose to pay on the 1st or 15th of
the month so you know exactly when your bank
account will be debited. Your number(s) will
be included in each draw to ensure maximum
support for LOROS whilst giving you every
opportunity to win one of the weekly prizes or
the new rollover prize of up to £7,500!
Lottery Manager, Liz Singleton said: “Using
LOROS Hospice Care for Leicestershire and Rutland

developments at the Hospice and thank
residents for their ongoing support.
From day one, Gail Barker, who works at the
Court, has done an excellent job of collecting
the lottery money on behalf of the residents.
Liz said: “I would like to thank Gail and the
residents for their kindness in supporting
LOROS and for inviting me to visit them again.”
this method is so much simpler for our
members. Once the mandate has been set
up they can sit back and relax, safe in the
knowledge that their lottery numbers will be
entered into every draw. For the last fourteen
years members have had the option to pay by
standing order but we have decided it’s time
to update our service to make it as easy as
possible.”
For more information ring Michelle or Ruth in
the lottery office on 0116 2318430 between
9am and 5pm.

WEDDING
expect that their gift would turn into a £2,000
windfall!
Hannah gave her reaction: “£2,000 is a lot
of money so we have decided to save some
but will treat ourselves to a new television. We
will continue to support the Lottery once the
subscription runs out.”
Tailored for any occasion and costing from £10,
LOROS Lottery gift subscriptions are the perfect
present for anyone over the age of 16 when you
just don’t know what to buy.
To purchase a lottery gift subscription either
complete and return the application form above
or ring the lottery office on 0116 2318430.
PRESENT JOY
Hannah and Stuart knew exactly what they
wanted for their wedding – an informal day
and a relaxed atmosphere with their family and
friends around them. They already had their own
home and everything they needed so they asked
everyone guests not to spend money on gifts.
However, Hannah’s Mum, Gloria and Stepfather,
Graham couldn’t let the day pass without buying
something for the happy couple. Having been
supporters of the Hospice and LOROS Lottery
members, they decided a gift subscription would
make an ideal present, giving Hannah and
Stuart the chance of winning a prize but with
the subscription money going to a cause close
to their hearts. Never in a million years did they

LOROS LOTTERY
ROLLOVER DELIGHT
Chris Allen was having a really bad week
not least because her son Kenny had been
diagnosed with asthma. With a house full of
colleagues and friends visiting the patient and a
weekend away looming, Chris had her hands full.
When Chris answered the door to Lottery
Manager Liz Singleton to hear that she was the
very first winner of the LOROS Lottery rollover, it
seemed too much to take in and brought tears to
her eyes.
The rollover had not been won since it was
introduced on April 2nd, 2010 and so after ten
weeks the prize was a cheque for £1,500.
Chris is from a family of LOROS supporters. Her
late father-in-law held five numbers and was the
1st prize winner in the celebratory 100th LOROS
Lottery draw. Her Mum, who holds two lottery
numbers, has won smaller amounts on several
occasions.
Chris later told Liz, “I couldn’t believe it, you
hear about this sort of thing but it never happens
to you. Although I have never visited LOROS a
late colleague was a patient so I will continue
to play the lottery. I like to know who I am
supporting and where my money is going. The
win will pay for some family treats, especially for
Kenny.”
Liz added, “The LOROS Lottery raises the
equivalent to the cost of 20 full time nurses on
the ward at the Hospice. Members pay in the
knowledge that they not only have the chance
of winning up to £7,500 but that their lottery
subscriptions play a vital role in the provision of
care. On behalf of everyone at LOROS, I would
like to thank Chris and all our members for their
continuing support.”
For more information on how you can play call
the lottery team on 0116 2318430 today.
VENUES REQUIRED
Do you work at a company that allows
organisations to promote their wares in the
staff restaurant?
This year we are looking for opportunities
to offer everyone the chance to speak to a
LOROS representative about the Hospice and
to support the LOROS Lottery. If you know of
a venue that would be suitable please contact
Liz Singleton on 0116 2318430.
VOLUNTEER
VACANCIES!
The LOROS Lottery is looking for more
volunteers interested in helping the
team to achieve even greater success
over the coming months. If you have a
friendly, outgoing personality, you may
be just who we are looking for.
Volunteers are required for stands
at various locations to sell LOROS
scratch cards and encourage
members of the public to sign up to
the lottery. This could be on a weekly,
monthly or ad hoc basis to suit you.
There are no specific requirements,
but good communication and
interpersonal skills would be ideal.
In return you would be working
as part of a team and benefit from
knowing that you are helping make a
difference to a local charity.
The lottery office is open Monday to
Friday between 9.00am and 5.00pm
so why not give us a call on 0116 231
8430 and have an informal chat with
Liz Singleton, Lottery Manager, to find
out how you can help.
