EXTREME Recreation in Lake Elsinore
Over the past several years, the City of Lake Elsinore has been
on a very active journey to meet the recreational needs of the
community. Through the Community Services Department, we
have strived to set new goals to bring more people to enjoy the
various opportunities available just outside your front door.
As a City, Lake Elsinore has 18 parks with amenities from open play areas to full baseball, softball, football
complexes that residents and guests can come down to have a picnic, take your dog into a “Dog Park”, cool off at
a Spray Park or take a leisurely walk around a facility with views that are incredible. And, let’s not forget our 3,000
Acre Foot jewel known as LAKE ELSINORE! This hidden giant that is beginning to get local, regional and national
attention for the various uses that are available will only become more and more known as the City improves. Daily
fishing enthusiast, Derby participants, water Skiers, speed boats and Paddle Boarders experience the calmness
and perfect wind conditions that make it a great location to experience passive and active recreation like Kit
Surfing or Aqua Flyboarding at La Laguna Resort and Boat Launch.
For programming, the Community Services Department has been working hard to keep our existing programs
available for residents but also added some new programming to get more to experience recreation, Lake Elsinore
Style! Traditional classes such as dance, Karate/Martial Arts, etc. are still popular and partnerships for facilities
has been highly utilized and will continue to grow. This year, with the direction of Mayor Brian Tisdale, staff created
the “Healthy LE”, which celebrates a healthier lifestyle with exercise, nutrition and workshops to help Lake Elsinore
be as healthy as we can be.
On the facilities side, our Public Works department has been working extremely hard in renovating parks throughout the community with new playground equipment at Summerhill, Machado nd Yarborough Parks; undertaking a
huge project at Rosetta with new ballfields to assist with economic development in the City; additions like a Spraypad at Yarborough Park and new amenities at City Park; and discussions have begun on bringing La Laguna Resort
campground up to resort standards.
With all this excitement in Community Services, it's great to live, work and play in the "Action Sports Capital of the
World". We invite you to come spend some time with us because we're just getting started!

Be water-wise by following these Lake safety tips:
1.
2.
3.
4.
DANGER! Sudden drop offs, hidden underwater hazards. The
low water clarity of Lake Elsinore may hide hazards.
DANGER! No Diving. Headfirst entries into shallow water
cause about 850 catastrophic neck/head/spinal injuries each
year in the U.S. Most occur from diving into shallow open
water areas.
WARNING! Watch your children! All children should be
accompanied by an adult at all times near the water. Keep
small children within arms reach.
CAUTION! Water & Alcohol Do Not Mix! Alcohol consumption
is often linked to drowning, diving injuries, boating accidents
and lack of supervision over children. Think before you drink!
A specially trained team of officers
from the Riverside County Sheriff’s
Department functions as Lake Patrol
on Lake Elsinore. Duties include the
enforcement of California Boating
Laws, City Ordinances, Sport Fishing Regulations and Health & Safety
concerns. The Sergeant supervises the Lake Patrol, and coordinates
efforts with the Lake Elsinore Marine Search & Rescue (LEMSAR); a
group of dedicated volunteers who assist in maintaining safety on
the Lake.
NEW THIS SEASON!
Infatable towables and PWC courses
are now PERMITTED!
Lake Use Passes
CAUTION - High WIND
speeds can sink a boat.
Afternoon winds on Lake
Elsinore can be hazardous.
The pilot of a boat is

seaworthiness of their boat prior to launching.
All boaters are required to have a Lake Use Pass when on the Lake. Daily
Lake Use passes are $10 and can be
purchased at all boat launch facilities.
A separate fee may be charged for boat

Did you know, next to the lake, streams, wetlands, and channels in the City are natural beneficial low-lying areas
known as floodplains and floodways. The City and other local agencies work to maintain and preserve these
areas; they are used to discharge and contain flood waters and have a one-in-100 chance of becoming flooded in
any year. It is hard to imagine flooding during a drought, but all it takes is a week or more of heavy rain to cause
flooding.
Did you know, the last 100-year flooding events occurred in
- FEMA conducted mapping to help identify the areas in the City prone to flooding; these areas are known as
Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA’s) and are shown on the map.
- The City, United States Army Corps of Engineers and other local agencies teamed together to construct
improvements to the lake designed to conserve water, improve water quality, and reduce flood risk.
- The City adopted Zoning and Regulatory Ordinances that require review of development projects for compliance
with City, State and Federal floodplain regulations prior to issuing a grading or building permit. These regulations
include enforcement of FEMA’s requirements for construction in SFHA’s, City Ordinances to safeguard the flood
storage capacity of the lake area, requiring minimum ground floor elevation of 1267 feet for structures in the area
around the lake and ground floor elevation of 2 feet above the flood elevation for all other properties in FEMA
mapped SFHA's.
Did you know, the City will help in determining if your property is in a FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area, as well as
provide information on Mandatory Flood Insurance Requirements, FEMA’s construction requirements,
information on flood zones/flooding including levee or dam failure inundation zones, has your property flooded
before, Elevation Certificates, and revising a FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map. For assistance, visit the City’s web
site at www.lake-elsinore.org or contact the City Engineering Division at (951) 674-3124 ext. 241.
