Helping students to reach their full potential!
Cremona’s Novice Violin Collection minimizes the single biggest
deterrent for many aspiring musicians: the cost of getting started.
While many suppliers cut the price of their entry-level instruments
by using laminated or pressed woods, all of Cremona’s Novice
Collection instruments feature handcarved solid maple and spruce
construction. Maximum tone production and a pleasing tone quality
are achieved with properly hand-graduated inner and outer contours of the top and back, hand-fitted bass bars and sound posts,
and clean interior workmanship. Each instrument is carefully crafted

The body of the Cremona SB-1 bass is made of fine instrumentgrade maple and spruce built to withstand the rigors of life on the
road. The single-plate Tyrolean-style tuning machines feature a
24:1 ratio gear for precise, easy tuning. You will be amazed to see

Our Cremona SB-3 bass features a select spruce top, beautiful,
flamed maple back, sides and neck, ebony fingerboard and boxwood endpin. A lovely, transparent warm amber matte finish

Cremona Maestro “Special Edition” Violins
The first choice of extremely serious musicians; fine-performing collectibles!
Fine instruments in every respect, all Special Edition Maestro violins feature the very best and rarest woods, and are superbly
handcrafted. They are produced by extraordinarily skilled,
immensely dedicated luthiers whose goal is to produce a “perfect” instrument every time.
Limited availability: The supply of these extremely rare, very old
woods and inlay materials is extremely limited and irreplaceable.
At the top of Cremona’s Maestro Series is a re-creation of the
legendary “Hellier” Strad. The “Hellier” is the most famous of
Antonio Stradivari’s inlaid violins. Originally purchased by Sir
Samuel Hellier in the early 18th century directly from the Master,
the instrument eventually passed to Mr. H.E. Morriss, a
Shanghai newspaper publisher. Fortunately, Mr. Morriss took
the Hellier with him to England before World War II; after World
War II, Morriss saw all of his Shanghai possessions confiscated
by the revolutionary functionaries of Mao Zedong and put on
display as “plunder”. The original “Hellier” is presently in the
Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.

Designed to be affordable without sacrificing quality, each bow
is handcrafted to meet or exceed the requirements of the most
demanding teachers. With the exception of the LB-10, which is
equipped with a rosewood frog, all other bows use the highest
grade ebony for the frog material. In addition, all models are
made with round Brazilwood sticks, with the exception of the
LB-19; which is made with an octagonal stick. Regardless of
your choice of bow, each has features that are generally considered only to be found on bows costing hundreds of dollars
more, easily priced will out of reach of the average player.

50’s inspired soft shoulder Dreadnaughts!
The new Blueridge BG series from Saga features the famous soft
shoulder dreadnaught design made famous in the 1940’s and 1950’s
and is still a favorite of many a player and vintage instrument collector, world-wide. Each model has all the features that make these
guitars so recognizable, while at the same time, includes modern
and original refinements that make an already great guitar design
even better. The Blueridge BG-160 features a vintage sunburst top
made from choice, solid spruce, delicately X-braced for optimum
tone and volume, solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides, a lowprofile mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and intricate
pearl position marks, a vintage-style rosewood bridge with bone
saddle, and a uniquely original peghead shape design with intricate

Regal Duolian Guitars
Own a piece of history – historic Regal Duolian guitars!
The Duolian Resonator Guitar was a favorite with blues legends
such as Son House, Bukka White and Tampa Red when it first
appeared in 1931. In the days before electric amplification blues
musicians were looking for an instrument that could produce the
volume they needed while still maintaining the tone they
required and the Duolian was the answer. Throughout the Delta
at roadside dives, house parties, and on street corners blues
musicians were putting down their wooden guitars and turning to
the metal body Duolian. The sharp attack and rapid decay so
characteristic of the Duolian sound instantly cut through the
ambient clatter of the local honky tonk! These were the amplified
guitars of the 1930’s. When the blues migrated from the
Mississippi Delta to Chicago so did the Duolian which became a
staple in the south side Chicago blues scene in the forties, fifties
and beyond. The Regal RC-1 metal-body resonator guitar recalls
the classic instruments of the 1930s with its pearloid peghead
veneer and rolled-in F-holes. Regal has added an adjustable
truss rod to the slimmer neck required by the contemporary
musician. The original was a bargain in the '30s, and the new

Regal Studio Dobros are the perfect example of how a true Dobro
should be made. Only quality materials are used, traditional
designs followed, all costs set at a level that makes it possible for

Kentucky Artist A-Model Mandolins
America’s favorite mandolins just got better!
The great Lloyd A. Loar designed the Classic mandolins of the
1920’s—mandolins that set the standard for everything else that
has followed. Saga designed it’s KM-300 series of mandolins to
incorporate many of the important constructional features of Loar
design found in the most expensive custom instruments—but
heretofore unavailable at the moderate price point of our celebrated Kentucky KM-300 series. Every mandolin in this series
features the traditional “snake-head” design from Loar-era instruments and an adjustable truss rod in the neck. The extended 29fret bound rosewood fingerboard is just like the vintage original
as is the adjustable, compensated rosewood bridge which
ensures perfect intonation. The solid maple neck joins the body
at the 15th fret giving full access to the upper registers.
The KM-340S features a solid, carved spruce top and flamed
maple back and sides, with a vintage sunburst finish. The KM350S has the same fine features but a solid, carved maple back.
The KM-380S is the same in all respects but the solid, carved

The Saga Style III features a rim design inspired by the instruments of William Lange in the early 1900s and the banjos produced by the Ode Banjo Company in the 1960s. Saga introduced
this unique flathead design in the late 1970s, incorporating a cast
hard-alloy rim with an integral, buttressed tone ring. The result is
an amazing clarity of tone in all registers as well as the quick
attack and rapid decay that pickers expect in a professional quality flathead banjo. The P-11 heavy-duty, grooved, tension hoop is
machined from solid brass, polished, and triple nickel-plated.
This design has stood the test of time, having been first used on
the Mastertone Banjos of the Gibson Mandolin Guitar Company
of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Saga Style III Banjo was designed
for the advanced student or professional.
The Saga Old Time Banjos are reminiscent of the classic banjos
produced by S.S. Stewart in Philadelphia over one hundred years
ago. Saga has incorporated a slightly heavier maple rim with a
rolled brass tone ring to produce an instrument retaining the traditional look and feel of banjos produced in that Golden Age. In
the last century, banjos were parlor instruments strung with gut.
The heavier rim design along with planetary pegs and a geared

Put the finishing touches on a beautiful violin-in-the-white!
Traditional, handcarved, all-solid maple and spruce violins with
inlaid purfling, pre-cut f-holes and pegholes and installed fingerboard, nut and saddle. Assembled with hot hide glue for easy
removal of the top when re-graduating.
The VW-5, our finest, is a marvel of clean, precise craftsmanship.
The maple of the back, sides, neck and scroll is superbly flamed.
The purfling is clean and accurate, the edge channeling exquisitely carved. The lower f-hole wings are slightly scooped in the
manner of fine Italian violins. The scroll is artistically carved. All
measurements are correct, and the overall work rivals the finest
production of any modern maker.

BANJO HEADS:

Remo and Golden Gate® standard 11” diameter heads with 5/8”
high crown, fit most modern banjos. Prior to about 1930, banjo
head sizes (diameter and crown height) varied widely from maker
to maker and even within some makers’ product lines. When all
heads were custom-fit from flat calf-skin, this was no problem. Our
flat 16"-diameter calf-skins will fit any of these older banjos. Save
the old head’s hoop for reuse: These are not easily replaced!

Violin Family Accessories

ROSIN:
The importance of good rosin cannot be over-emphasized.
Rosin, a sticky processed tree sap, increases the friction
between the bow hair and the string. Good rosin increases the
player’s control over tone, articulation and response. In general,
clear or light rosins tend to be harder and less sticky than
darker rosins. They usually work best in warm, humid climates.
Darker, softer rosins are often preferred in cooler, drier climates.
Some rosins are weather-coded. Student-grade rosins are typically packaged in a “C-channel” for ease of use. Better rosins,
which are usually cloth-wrapped and may or may not come in a
box, tend to have a finer particle size. Smaller particles “dust”
more, reducing clogging of the hair and increasing its useful life.
While price is usually a good clue to quality, player preference
is the ultimate arbiter.
