The City of Seymour has a mayor/
council form of government.
The common council, consisting
of the mayor and six alderpersons
representing the city's six wards
meets the second and fourth Mondays
of every month at 7 p.m. in Council
Chambers at City Hall, 328 N. Main St.
City hall office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30
p.m., Monday-Friday.
Police: Chief leads five fulltime personnel, providing 24-hour
protection.
Fire: Chief heads a volunteer department. Paged out by 911 service
on call 24 hours a day. Three pumper
trucks, two tankers, a snorkel truck
and equipment truck including a Jaws
of Life and carbon monoxide detector.
Rescue: volunteers provide coverage to city and towns of Seymour and
Osborn. Two rescue units equipped
with defibrillators. CPR available to
public. To volunteer for fire or rescue
call 833-2209.
SERVICES PROVIDED
Garbage pickup: weekly pickup
by city; day varies by area of the city.
Must use clear bags.
Yard waste collection: Yard
waste must be bagged or put in a container. Pick up is every Monday. Brush
4 ft. in length must be securely tied
in bundles. Clean landfill, located on
Municipal Drive is open Saturdays 9
a.m.-3 p.m. and Wed. nights from 3-8
p.m. starting in April.
Recycle dates and requirements: Every other Thurs. Follow
requirements of Outagamie County.

• Burger Fest - August, Celebrate Seymour as the Home of the Hamburger with
balloon rally, parade, family games and more, Depot Street
• Seymour Community Museum, Railroad Museum, Gazebo, Veterans
Memorial and Farmers' Market - Depot St., downtown Seymour - An impressive
collection of historical artifacts tells the story of Seymour and the surrounding
area. Stroll through the old See-More Theater, a doctor's office, a war room, and
old time kitchen, to name a few. Seasonal displays. Organized and run by volunteer members of the Seymour Historical Society, Gazebo provides performance
area for community groups. Call 833-2868, for more info. The Railroad Museum
is operated in an old depot by members of the Seymour Model Railroad Club.
Activities include annual display and Christmas open house. Farmers' Market is
held each Tues. from 2-6 p.m. from mid-June through mid-Oct.
PARKS & RECREATION
• Rock Ledge Park: Play equipment, ball diamonds, and Scout House. Picnic
tables and grilling areas available. A park pavillion is also available for events.
• Lake Park: Play equipment, pavilion, ball diamond. Picnic tables and grills available.
• Recknagel/Lions Park: Play equipment, shelter, picnic facilities, ball diamond,
volleyball and basketball courts.
• Nagel Park: Gazebo, Veterans Memorial, gazebo, picnic tables, museums, downtown Seymour
• Behrendt Park: Play equipment, and picnic tables.
• Skating rinks: Two small rinks are flooded every winter at Rock Ledge and
Recknagel/Lions Parks. No posted hours.
• Aquatic and Fitness Center: Swimming lessons-memberships 833-9704. At
Seymour Community High School.
• Newton Blackmour Nature Trail: Recreational trail from Oneida to Black
Creek
• Outagamie County Fairgrounds: The fairgrounds play host to many events,
including the Outagamie County Fair each July and racing at the Seymour
Speedway throughout the summer. A large exposition building is also available for

• Single-stream recycling is in effect for all communities in Outagamie
County.
• You may combine mixed paper and containers (aluminum, tin, plastic and glass) into one recycling bin. You may continue to use the
same bins that you have used in the past.
• Trash may not be mixed in with recyclable materials.
GUIDELINES:
• Please have recyclables at the curb the night before or by 6 a.m. on
your day of pick up.
• Not all plastic is recyclable. Please be sure the symbol on the container is #1 or #2 and the neck is smaller than the base. Engine oil bottles and ice cream pails are not acceptable.
• Please do not place recyclables in plastic bags. Shredded paper
should be placed in brown paper bags and stapled or taped shut.
• Cardboard should be flat and no larger than 3 ft. x 3 ft.
Be sure recycling containers are secured on windy days.
ELECTRONICS:
• Computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, monitors, TV sets, DVD
and VCR players, flash drives and cellphones may no longer just be

NAVARINO
Navarino Nature Center (NNC), a private, non-profit organization, was established
in April of 1986 by a group of residents concerned about ecology and environmental
education. In January of 1987 in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) a site was selected on the 15,000-acre Navarino Wildlife Area. A
parking lot, well, amphitheater and cabin were added in 1990.
The center offers picnicking, hiking, wild life viewing and cross country ski/snowshoe trails, along with educational programs and family events.

The Village of Shiocton has a president/board of trustees form of government.
The Village Board, comprised of the president and six trustees elected at-large
by village residents, meets the second Monday of every month at the Village Hall,
N5605 WIS 76.
Police: Chief and part-time officers provide police protection with coverage varying. Outagamie County provides back-up coverage.
Fire: Chief heads a volunteer department covering Shiocton and Town of Bovina.
Paged out by 911 service, on call 24 hours a day. Three pumper trucks, a 5,000-gallon tanker, two brush trucks and an equipment truck with Jaws of Life, thermal
imaging camera and carbon monoxide detector.
Rescue: A volunteer squad, one ambulance.

The Mission of Mosquito Hill Nature Center is to provide environmental education and recreation that foster understanding, appreciation, and sound stewardship of the natural world for people of all ages.
The Mosquito Hill Nature Center is open year round with both indoor and
outdoor opportunities on 430 acres adjacent to the Wolf River. Inside are natural
history displays, an art gallery, exhibit areas, an auditorium, classrooms, and a
library. Outside is a butterfly house which is open July through August and an
observatory that's used during scheduled events.
Location - Nestled along the banks of the scenic Wolf River, Mosquito Hill
Nature Center is conveniently located just off US Highway 45 and State Highway
54 just east of New London, WI. The Center is 45 minutes from Green Bay, and
25 minutes from the Fox Cities.

Museum: In 2008 the Ron Weyers Family Foundation built the Freedom Historical Society building in
Rickert Park on McHugh Road. This building was then donated to the Town of Freedom. The building has a
small patio and restroom for park visitors to use.
Recreation: Citizen's Park is a mini-park located on the corner of CTH S and CTH E. This park serves as a
gathering point in the heart of the community. The facilities include a gazebo, park benches and landscaping
that enhance the beauty of the downtown area.
Rickert Park on McHugh Road is named for Joseph Rickert, a former Town Clerk and is located on
McHugh Road. This park contains open space with a small backstop for baseball and softball, assorted playground equipment, restroom, and a parking lot.
VFW Memorial Park is located near the intersection of WIS 55 and Columbia Avenue.
This park covers approx. 32 acres. Facilities in the park include four softball diamonds, hardball diamond,
soccer fields, a combination tennis/basketball court, a sand volleyball court, open and covered playground
areas, a pavilion, two combination shelter/concession stands, skate park area, and restrooms. This park is
heavily used for organized athletic activities.
The pavilion, VFW Hall and Town Hall are available for rental by town residents.

RECYCLING
• Single-stream recycling is in effect for all communities in Outagamie County.
• You may combine mixed paper and containers (aluminum, tin, plastic and glass)
into one recycling bin. You may continue to use the same bins that you have used
in the past.
• Trash may not be mixed in with recyclable materials.
• Please have recyclables at the curb before or by 6 a.m. on your day of pick up.
• Not all plastic is recyclable. Please be sure the symbol on the container is #1 or
#2 and the neck is smaller than the base. Engine oil bottles and ice cream pails
are not acceptable.
• Please do not place recyclables in plastic bags including shredded paper.
• Cardboard should be flat and no larger than 3 ft. x 3 ft.
• Be sure recycling containers are secured on windy days.
• The program is for residents only.
• Recyclables will be picked up every other week.
