Government & government services
The City of Seymour has a mayor/council form of government.
The common council, consisting of the mayor
and six alderpersons representing the city's six wards
meets the second and fourth Mondays of every month
at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 328 N.
Main St. City hall office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.,
Monday-Friday.
Police: Chief leads six full-time personnel, providing 24-hour protection.
Fire: Chief heads a volunteer department. Paged
out by 911 service on call 24 hours a day. Three pumper trucks, two tankers, a snorkel truck and equipment
truck including a Jaws of Life and carbon monoxide
detector.
Rescue: volunteers provide coverage to city and
towns of Seymour and Osborn. Two rescue units
equipped with defibrillators. CPR available to public.
To volunteer for fire or rescue call 833-2209.
Services provided
Garbage pickup: weekly pickup by city; day varies
by area of the city. Must use clear bags.
Yard waste collection: Yard waste must be bagged
or put in a container. Pick up is every Monday. Brush
4 ft. in length must be securely tied in bundles. Clean
landfill, located on Municipal Drive is open Saturdays
9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Wednesday nights from 3-8 p.m.

An impressive collection of historical artifacts
tells the story of Seymour and the surrounding area.
Stroll through the old See-More Theater, a doctor's
office, a war room, and old time kitchen, to name a
few. Seasonal displays. Organized and run by volunteer members of the Seymour Historical Society,
Gazebo provides performance area for community
groups. Call 833-2868, for more information.
The Railroad Museum is operated in an old
depot by members of the Seymour Model Railroad
Club. Activities include annual display and open
house at Christmas.
A Farmers' Market is held each Tuesday from 2-6
p.m. from mid-June through mid-October.
