Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians are a federally recognized tribe established in 1876, named after the village of Toro and the Martinez Indian Agency. The reservation is located in the Coachella Valley in Riverside and Imperial Counties. The Tribe obtained the Tribal TANF grant in 2001 to provide tribal members with temporary financial assistance and supportive services. Soon after, they extended the Tribal TANF Program to Los Angeles County, open to any enrolled member of any federally recognized tribe, some state recognized tribes, or the descendants of such tribes. The TM Tribal TANF mission is to help tribal families achieve self-sufficiency and independence. v*- Questions?
