Our Holiday Caravans, Comfortable and Compact . . .
If you're looking for a wonderful
natural location but still want all the
comforts of home, then our holiday
hire caravan homes are the perfect
solution.
Facilities, including shower, toilet,
fridge, microwave oven, central heating,
double glazing, fridge freezer, large flat
screen TV with DVD player and balcony.
Well behaved pets are welcome in some
caravans (2 dogs maximum) please enquire on booking.
Looking for something new...? Try one of our Camping Pods!
What is it? Well, it’s a small timber hut with a wraparound roof,
all very well insulated with sheeps wool in the walls. There's good
head height and plenty of light from the double-glazed lockable
French doors which, together with a small high rear window,
provide a good through draft. All in all, it's a brilliant substitute for
a tent.
Try something new . . . stay in a Pod ! !
Just think . . . you can have all the best bits of camping - experiencing the closeness to nature and the sense of adventure - but without the
disadvantages. You can engage with the great outdoors without the threat of being savaged by it! Just bring all your camping equipment …
but not your tent!
Please note: Beds are not provided. Lighting, socket and heating are included.
The joy of camping under canvas appeals to all ages. Separate from the tourers, the camping field
has both sloping and level areas with great views from some parts of it. Excellent washing
facilities are available, but no electric hook-up points. Sorry we cannot take advance bookings
for camping and no groups are accepted.
With a bus stop just 5 minutes away and Keswick a 30 minute walk away, there's no need to rely
on a car. Our campers kitchen provides all weather cooking facilities with seating overlooking
the fells.

the local exhibits whilst taking in the amazing view. For the perfect gift we stock a range of products and local crafts

Lake District photos on display. On a clear day it is possible, through binoculars, to watch hill walkers ascending
Catbells, one of Lakelands most famous mountains. Opening hours vary depending on the time of season.
Please enquire or see gate for times.
Castlerigg Gallery
Our franchised on-site restaurant/tea room, complete
with balcony, serves traditional breakfasts, Cumbrian
specialities and some home made products using locally
sourced ingredients plus a choice of wines and beers....
Enjoy them all as you look out over wonderful
panoramic views!
Great food and a wonderful view . . .
We've a wide range of facilities at Castlerigg. There's a reception brimming over with useful local
information.
Our 'Camper's Store/Farm Shop' has a real emphasis on local produce. Try our local jams with
your morning toast or perhaps quench your thirst with one of the many local bottled ales after a
long walk . A good wine selection as well as fresh bread, daily papers, general groceries,
local meats, gifts, and camping accessories all mean you don’t have to travel far!
Camper’s Store
Our washing facilities are all heated for those cooler months,
with free showers and some privacy cubicles also available for
washing.
For those looking for a nice long soak after a day on the fells we
have a bathroom available for hire.
General Park Amenities
The main facility building also houses the Laundrette and Disabled facilities, which is located at the top of the park.
Our Campers Kitchen provides the perfect place to prepare food under cover or sit and enjoy the view. Toasters and kettles are free to use whilst there
is a nominal charge for the microwave ovens and electric hobs. A freezer is also available for Ice Packs which is free to use.
For our four legged guests we provide a free dog wash with temperature controlled water. Free Wi-Fi is available at various points around the park.
The Park is home to quite a few pets. Presently there are Kune Kune pigs, Indian runner
ducks, goats, Shetland ponies, chickens, cats and dogs. These are viewable in early and late
season at home in the barn but are out in the fields during the summer.
Over recent years we have been actively encouraging more wildlife to Castlerigg and we're
pleased to report that its been a success! Thanks to all our red squirrel feeding boxes, bird
boxes and bug boxes, our planting of buddleias, plus our leaving some areas unmown, the
wildlife has flourished. So you might well see wild deer, red squirrels, badgers, owls and a
myriad of butterflies, bees and birds during your visit.
Wildlife . . . (and not so wildlife!)
Conserving the Lake District . . . Every little helps!
The ravages of time, weather and the sheer numbers of visitors all
take their toll on the Lakes. In our bid to help conserve and
protect our environment, we support the David Bellamy
Conservation Scheme (see www.ukparks.com) and also Nurture
Lakeland (www.nurturelakeland.org).
With the help of our visitors we've raised £10,000 for repairs
including Bleaberry Fell footpath, Walla Crag and we pay tribute to
the fantastic efforts of David Bellamy and his son Rufus who helped
us set up our Butterfly Bar.
“Fresh air is Free” is a new initiative encouraging you to leave your
car on site and use the local paths or public transport reducing
your carbon bootprint! (ask at reception for details).
Castlerigg . . . the beginning
John and Betty Jackson first started to develop the land at
Castlerigg Hall into a Caravan and Camping Park in the late 1950s.
The family had farmed here since 1938 but now the old barns and
farm buildings were put to new use as campsite facilities.
From these early beginnings their son David and his wife Jill have
taken over the mantle and continue to develop the site.
Much to explore, much to discover . . .
Right in the heart of magnificent Lakeland countryside, Castlerigg occupies a truly superb position.
Within a 35 minute walk is the enigmatic Castlerigg Stone Circle, thought to date back some four thousand years, or take a stroll down through the
woods into the market town of Keswick 30 minutes away, home to interesting museums, theatre, cinema, shops and numerous restaurants, cafes and
inns.
But of course, if you really want to see the Lake District in all its splendour, you need to don your walking boots and take to the hills, cycle some of
the many cycle routes or alternatively take a ride on the boat service around Derwentwater stopping off at various points around the Lake.
