JOURNEYS ON THE MOST BEAUTIFUL
RAILROADS IN SOUTHERN AFRICA
2
DISCOVERING AFRICA’S SOUTH ON BOARD THE AFRICAN EXPLORER
For more than 20 years travellers have been
discovering the most beautiful destinations
in Southern Africa in comfort with this train.
Starting with selected departures in 2015,
the African Explorer will run exclusively for
Lernidee Trains & Cruises on unique rail
routes between Cape Town, Windhoek, Maputo and Victoria Falls. Guests are presented
with ever-changing landscapes – without any
domestic flights, time-consuming transfers
and daily suitcase packing. The train covers
long distances over night, while guests are
slumbering in their private compartments.
During the day there is ample time for excursions to famous and also to lesser known
destinations, for encounters with the chequered history of the countries travelled and
last, but not least, for extensive game drives.
Journeys include overnights in comfortable
sleeping compartments, breakfast and dinner in the on-board restaurant, an English
speaking tour guide team and a comprehensive excursion programme, supplemented
by on-board lectures and speciality meals.
There is also an English-speaking doctor on
board.

the Spitzkoppe, before it finally reaches
Windhoek. The journey’s highlights are a
visit to the Namib desert with the Sossusvlei and to the Etosha National Park, where
guests stay in comfortable lodges.
As with all our journeys by Private Train,
guests also stay in lodges and hotels during
the tour for some nights. Heavy luggage
remains in the guests’ compartments on
board.
