Edelman Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Edwards Allison Erni cornerstone client On June 8, 2012, we lost our son, Joseph Paul Erni to an unexplained stillbirth at 35 weeks gestation. This began my journey to finding happiness again and my relationship with Cornerstone of Hope. I found Cornerstone of Hope in 2010 when my Uncle unexpectedly passed away and left behind 2 young children. When Joey passed away, I knew that Cornerstone was the perfect place for me because it felt like home. For six months I met with a counselor who helped me come to terms with my feelings and find my new normal. My husband and I attended the candlelight service on October 15th, the National Day of Remembrance for Pregnancy and Infant Loss. We felt it was a beautiful way to honor our son. In January, I joined the Neonatal/ Infant Loss Support Group. I felt very comfortable with the other loss parents as we talked about our emotional challenges and our daily struggles of our loss. Kopf 10 I am the Bereavement Coordinator for the Catholic Cemeteries Association. “Cornerstone of Hope”…..what a powerful name; what a powerful organization. This bereavement center lives up to its name. For so many people throughout this community who have lost a loved one it is a beacon of hope. As my involvement with Cornerstone of Hope increases, I appreciate more and more the many facets of this center. It was humbling for me to see the community support that Cornerstone received at the Gala in February. I am forever thankful for the professional support that is given to social workers and grief counselors at the weekly workshops that are held. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend the Group Facilitator Workshop; it thoroughly prepared me to facilitate one the twenty grief support groups that Cornerstone offers quarterly. I have enjoyed immensely serving on the Camp Committee and planning for the three Cleveland summer camps that are held yearly. Each of the staff members that I have met and worked with are truly committed to Cornerstone’s mission. Their efforts are tireless and their compassion is endless. I look forward and feel privileged to coordinate services with such a blessed and spirit-filled organization. The Buchy Family, cornerstone client Within six months I lost my husband, best friend, and motherin-law. Our family has been coming to Cornerstone since May 2012, and we have participated in their counseling program, camp and group experiences. Right from the beginning, I found the best way to deal with my grief was to share it. For me, sharing my grief gives me permission to own and control my grieving process. I know that the losses will never truly be forgotten, but by sharing it I no longer carry the burden alone and I allow the wonderful memories I have to become more of the story. I am thankful to Cornerstone for helping me and my children reach this point. 17 Decade of Hope Campaign To celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we have decided to embark on a one-time appeal in honor of this special year. Having completed ten successful years of serving grieving children, teens and adults in Northeast Ohio, we hope to ensure that Cornerstone can continue to offer premier grief care to those most in need. To continue offering quality programming and to expand current programs “The Decade of Hope Campaign” has been established. The Decade of Hope Campaign has a goal of raising $1,000,000 and has three priorities of Programming, Capital and Endowment, which will allow Cornerstone to continue to provide high quality programs and counseling services.
