efore any homeowner rents or sells his/her home in Glenwood, the homeowner must come to the
office, state the intention to rent or sell, and obtain an application for the potential buyer or renter
to complete and return to the office.
If you have a major problem regarding the Glenwood comunity. DO NOT CALL THE BOARD MEMBERS. Put your problem or request in writing and deliver it to the office. It will be considered at the next Board
Meeting and you will receive a written reply regarding your letter.
Residents need permission from the BOD first and a Pinellas County permit second to remove a tree with
a trunk diameter of four inches or more. Refusal to follow the law could result in a significant fine.
*If any resident of Glenwood Estates DOES NOT wish to have their Birthday OR Anniversary
published, please submit your request in writing to the office. However, if your Birthday or Anniversary
has been inadvertently left out, please contact the office and I will update our records.

____________________________________________________________________
As of March 31, 2013 access control (guard house) hours will be 7:00 P.M. to 5:00

From The Treasurer
Martha Barry
_______________________________
T
he Board recommends that
residents avail themselves of the
convenience of direct pay for
monthly Association fees. The fees are
due on the first day of each month with
a grace period of 10 days. They
must be delivered to the office
by 2:00 P.M. on the tenth of
the month. If it is late for any
reason a charge of $25.00 is
assessed to the unit.
Anyone wishing to
use direct pay may pick up
a form at the office and return it signed with a void check attached. This must be done by
the 25th of the month prior to the first payment being withdrawn from a bank account.
Direct pay is secure. Cornerstone Bank handles the transactions through secure
electronic channels. Payments are deducted on the 5th of the month. We have been using
this method for five years and it has proved to be an safe and efficient process.

____________________________________________________________________
A
s our winter residents prepare
to leave for the summer,
please, stop by the office and
make sure your information is up to
date. Many residents do not return
before election information needs
to be mailed out in November and
this helps us get it to the right place.
Also, the 2013-14 Dial Directory is here. You may pick that up
at the office next time you're at the clubhouse.
Yoga
________________________________________
Y
oga is offered every Monday at 11:00 AM in the
clubhouse and is quickly becoming very popular.
Please, join us for an hour of light stretching and
meditation with a licensed yoga instructor. A $5.00 donation
will be accepted.
"Chair" yoga is also being offered at 11:00 A.M. on Thursdays.
It's an alternative to floor yoga for those of us out here with achy
bones. You reap the benefits of the discipline without having to get
up off that floor! Again, a $5.00 donation will be accepted.

A
big thank you to Judy Lee and her crew for all their hard to make the Annual Card
Party a great time. The Hall looked fabulous and lunch was
beautifully served. It couldn't have happened without all of
our wonderful volunteers. St. Patrick's Day Party
Randy Bellerose
________________________________________________
I
would like to thank my crew for all their hard work preparing for the St. Patrick's Day Party. We had a peeling party
and Jan Troke got stuck with the onions! Barb Mucci did
her usual awesome job decorating the Hall, and Beth Pickett
put together a beautiful gift basket for the raffle to benefit
the Social Committee. My thanks to everyone who worked
so hard and I apologize if I've left anyone out.

A Recipe To Share
Ginger Henderson
____________________________________________________________________
CALYPSO CUPS
1 cup butter, softened.
2 packages (3 oz) cream cheese, softened.
2 cups all-purpose flour.
3 tsp. sugar
Filling:
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup sugar
3 tsp. cornstarch
2 cans (8 oz.) crushed pineapple, un-drained.
2 eggs
Frosting:
2 cups confectioner's sugar
1/2 cup shortening, (I use butter shortening)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 tbsp. milk C
ream butter, cream cheese. Gradually add flour. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour until
easy to handle.
Roll into 1 in. balls. Press onto the bottom and sides of greased miniature muffin
cups. (If you use the teflon type, you do not have to grease the muffin cups.
Combine filling ingredients, spoon into cups. (I like to really fill them up. You may
have a little juice left over)
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until edges are lightly brown. Cool in
pans on wire racks.
For Frosting combine the sugar, shortening, and vanilla: add enough milk to achieve
spreading consistency. Remove cooled cups and frost. I usually put them into miniature
paper cups.
Makes 4 dozen cups, you may freeze them. This recipe is amended from last month where 1/2 cup shortening, for the frosting, was listed twice.

Travel Updates
Carol Smerker
______________________________
I
have booked two new shows at the
Largo Cultural
Center. One
show "Forbidden
Broadway" is on
Sunday, May 19,
2013 at 2:00 P.M.
The price is $26.50
all checks payable
to the City of Largo.
I have reserved 10
seats that must be
paid for by April
4, 2013 for them to hold the tickets. They will work with me on that , but the seats will
have to be released soon thereafter. The other show "Lost at Sea: The Swashbuckling
Adventures of Alex Jones", written by a local man, is Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 2:00 P.M.
The price and particulars are the same as Forbidden Broadway. I can probably get them
to hold these seats a little longer as well. Seats for both plays are in Section B which is
center section. Questions can be referred to Joyce Herbort or me.
We can do the Blueberry Festival in Plant City on Saturday, April 27, 2013. The
bus leaves at 9:00 A.M. and returns at 4:00 P.M. The price is $26.00 all checks payable
to payable to Advantage Cruises and Tours. They have a Casino Hopping trip April 1-2,
2013, a Tradewinds Casino trip, and many other day trips, overnight trips, and cruises on
many different cruise lines.
I have a call in to Marie to determine the cost of a bus trip to Tarpon Springs for
"Hat Day" in April.
As always check the bulletin board for changes and details.

Recover Your Inner Child’s Imagination
_______________________________________________
C
hildren are naturally creative, but you don’t have
to lose the spark of imagination as you age. Try
these tricks to keep your mind young and fresh
throughout your life:
• Look at the clouds. Play the childhood game of
gazing up at clouds and finding shapes in them.
You’ll relax your mind and get into the habit of
looking for new connections.
• Re-read a favorite book. Pick a book from
your childhood and read it again. Has it
changed—or has your perspective on it shifted? What lessons does it still have
to teach?
• Visit your best places. Go back to some location you loved as a child. Look for
what you enjoyed about it, and what’s different. Reconnect with your memories
and use them to reignite your ambitions.

fter the Meet n Greet on April 5th the Glenwood
Players are presenting "All the Comforts of
Home".
This play is a look into the lives of three ladies who
live together and are looking for another room mate to share
their home.
I think you will enjoy this. It is funny and touching at the same time. Please,
plan on coming and encouraging our players who have worked hard to get this just right.

Of 21St-Century Reading
____________________________________________________________________
P
rint books may or may not be in danger,
but reading in general isn’t going out of
style. Data from the Pew Research Center indicate that about 78 percent of Americans
16 or older say they’ve read at least one book
in the last 12 months.
Pew looked at variations among reading
habits in different communities. For example, 80 percent of urban and suburban residents
alike say they’ve read at least one book in the past year, along with 78 percent of those
in rural areas. We read for many reasons: 82 percent of suburban book lovers say they
read for pleasure, as well as 79 percent of city dwellers and 76 percent of rural residents.
At the same time, 79 percent of urbanites read to keep pace with current events; so do 79
percent of readers in the suburbs, and 73 percent of rural readers.
It’s not all e-books, either: 58 percent of Americans 16 and older say they have a
library card, and 69 percent say that libraries are very important to them and their families.

New Words For A New Era?
____________________________________________________________________
T
he English language is always growing and
changing. These new words may not appear
in any dictionary, but they’re sure to add
some sparkle to your everyday conversations:
• Beardspiration. A beard so awesome
that it inspires other people to grow their
own beards. “Abraham Lincoln is truly
a beardspiration to me.”
• Corporatistical. Adjective relating to
oversize executive egos. “Telling me to
remove all the semicolons from that report was really corporatistical of him.”
• Deskorations. Knicknacks for the workplace cubicle, intended to make the resident look cool. “That miniature fountain would make a great deskoration for the
office.”
• Inboxapocalpyse. An overstuffed email inbox. “I’ve got 1,256 emails! It’s an
inboxapocalpyse!”
• Stresscalation. When one person passes his or her stress on to a co-worker.
“Pam’s meetings always produce a significant stresscalation to her assistant.”
If you let fear of consequence prevent you from following your deepest instinct, then
your life will be safe, expedient, and thin.
—Katharine Butler Hathaway
Financial Literacy Month. Many Americans are insufficiently educated about their
personal finances. According to www.financialliteracymonth.com, the sponsor website,
Americans carry more than $2 trillion in consumer debt, and 30 percent report not having
enough extra cash to escape the stress of living paycheck to paycheck. Go to the website
for ideas about managing your money successfully.

Don’t Let Burnout Get You Down
_________________________________________________
B
urnout can affect your home life and personal relationships as well as your job. If you answer yes to at least
three of the following questions, then you might be
close to burnout:
• Do you have difficulty getting up in the morning?
• Do you feel always tired?
• Do you frequently forget things?
• Do you have unexplained aches and pains?
• Are you irritable at work and at home?
• Do you feel overwhelmed most of the time?
• Do you often feel bored on the job?
• Have you begun to wonder why you’re doing what you’re doing?
How do you eliminate burnout? Here are several suggestions:
• Be more social. Find things to do with co-workers, friends, and family members.
If you feel connected to others, you’ll probably end up reducing the work-related
stress.
• Add fun to your daily work life. Bring in baby pictures and post them on the
bulletin board in the break room and have other employees join in; plan a visit
to the zoo or the gym; or take a walk outside during your lunch break.
• Create a safe haven. Ask your manager if you can create a stress-free zone for
other burned-out employees. It doesn’t have to be big; it could be a hallway
outside a conference room. Put up an inflatable palm tree and a picture of the
ocean—anything that brings calm thoughts to mind for you and others.
Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer
to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.

No Bones About It: Keep
Your Skeleton Strong As You Age
_______________________________________________
B
one health becomes more and more important as you age, especially because people reach their peak bone mass in
their 30s and then gradually lose mass as time goes on.
To keep your bones strong and avoid injury on the job (and at
home), follow these tips:
• Take your vitamins. Calcium is essential to strong bones,
and it’s found in yogurt, cheese, milk, spinach, and other
food, as well as in nutritional supplements. It works
best when combined with vitamin D, which you can
get from shrimp, fortified orange juice and cereal,
egg yolks, and tuna, as well as in supplement form.
Vitamin K, in addition, assists your body in producing the proteins necessary
for healthy bones.
• Exercise. Physical fitness is a major component of good health in general, and
weight-bearing exercises in particular (walking, running, climbing stairs, and
lifting weights) can do a good job of keeping your bones healthier and stronger
as you age, as well as reducing the risk of osteoporosis.
• Limit cigarettes, coffee, and alcohol. All three have negative effects on bone mass.
Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant,
and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will be
delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life become a beautiful success, in spite of
poverty. —Louisa May Alcott
Environmental Education Week, April 14-20. The goal of Environmental Education
Week is to assist educators in incorporating more high-quality environmental education
in the curriculum, reaching millions of students with environmentally themed lessons and
activities.

world of work and careers.

_____________________________________________________________________
A
s we proceed through the year circulation needs will change with the current population
in your park. We will need your help to keep us abreast of these changes and to avoid
your running short or printing extra books which aren’t needed. It helps us to know your
needs before you send in your copy (by 10th of each month) since we must print a part of your
publication in advance of your copy deadlines.
If you will require more or less copies for next month’s issue, please call Monthly Media
by the 10th of this month at 585-7388. Do not email or send note with your copy. Thank you.
