Binding Options
Hardback
Spiral-bound
Softcase
The hardback cover is stitch
and glue bound to ensure that
it stands up to the wear and
tear of school life.
The spiral-bound cover is light
and has a durable plastic cover
to protect it and keep it in
good condition.
The softcase cover weighs less
than the hardback option but
uses the same stitch and glue
process to ensure durability.
Standard Cover Designs
Our standard cover designs for 2014/2015 feature a personal resilience theme which runs throughout this
year’s diary. You can view the full size images of our cover designs on our website www.4schools.ie
Your School Name & Crest
You can have your school name and crest overprinted
in black on our standard covers.
Please note, you will need to provide us with a good
quality digital image of your school crest (a high
resolution JPEG or vector file).
Custom Cover Designs
For schools who want a personal touch, we
offer the option to completely customise the
journal front and back.
Interestingly, schools who have opted to
include photos of school events, sports
teams and student activities have reported
that the students take better care of their
journals.
Our design team will take your ideas and
turn them into a beautiful cover your school
will be proud of.
Gold Embossed Covers
Some schools want a simple but elegant look
and feel to their journal. We offer the option
of a nicely textured hardback cover with your
school name and crest embossed in gold leaf.
School Custom Content
This section of our homework journal is individual to every school. Here you can communicate your school’s
unique culture, ethos and rules to the entire school community.
• In the Standard Journal you can choose to have either eight or sixteen pages of fully customised
content printed in one colour.
• In the Custom Journal you can opt to have this section printed in full colour. It can also contain as many
pages as you require.
Our customers add a range of content to this section of their journals. Below is a list of ideas that you may
find helpful when considering what you want to communicate through your student journal.

Adolescence
Why is diet so
The brain changes a lot throughout adolescence. As you develop during your
teen years your attention span improves. The speed at which you can process
information increases, you become better at organising your thoughts and your
memory improves.
Bullying is repeated physical, verbal or psychological aggression directed by an

who do not eat enough, or who don’t have a balanced diet, may have stunted
growth which causes problems later in life.
Traditionally, bullying used to take place in person or perhaps via phone calls or
letters. Nowadays though, bullying can take the form of cyber bullying. Cyber

Types of Cyber Bullying
The Power Of Choice
You are probably sick of hearing it, but the choices you make now will impact
the rest of your life. Coping with big decisions at this time in life can be quite
stressful. So, just do your best to make the best decisions for you.
Risky Business
Young people are more likely to take risks because the area of the brain that
deals with consequences is not fully formed until the age of 25. This ability to
take a risk can be great when you use it for something positive like learning a
new and difficult skill. However, the tendency to dismiss negative consequences
of risky activities is not always good.
Crossroads
Statistically, young people are the
most common victims of road traffic
accidents worldwide.
Crime & Time
Even a minor criminal incident will
be held on your criminal record and
can cause problems when you want
to travel.
‘Liver’ Longer Life
Young people absorb alcohol quicker
and have a lower tolerance than
adults. Your liver is not fully equipped
to deal with alcohol at this age. In
the long term, this can cause liver
damage.
Educated Earners
A good Leaving Certificate is the
first step towards a solid education.
People with high levels of education
find it easier to get jobs that pay
higher wages. If you want the buck$,
hit the books!
»
A good diet should supply plenty of iron and calcium. According to the Irish Heart »
Foundation, a large majority of young people are not getting enough iron in their
»
diet. Iron can be found in red meat, dried fruit and fortified cereals. Young people
»
may not eat enough calcium also. Low calcium levels can lead to brittle bones
and osteoporosis. Calcium can be found in milk, cheese, yoghurt and fortified
dairy substitutes.
Commenting on websites and social media such as facebook and twitter.
Sometimes we take friendship for granted or think that our friendships do not
impact on our lives much. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. The
quality of your friendships makes a real difference to your physical and mental
health.

things out.
Having

Happy Out
Friendships increase
happiness for a variety of
reasons. Friends tend to make
us laugh, they obviously enjoy our
company (or they wouldn’t hang
around with us) and we can
generally chat to them about
anything and everything.

the Leader
Your friends have a strong
influence on your habits. One
study showed that if your friends
eat healthily, you are five times more
likely to eat healthily yourself. The
opposite is also true. So if you have a
goal of getting fit or studying more,
you may be more successful if
you get your friend to do it
with you.
Feel

Friends make us
feel like we belong
and have a place
in the world.
Stress Buster
Friendship reduces
stress. We can chat to our
friends, do fun activities
with them, go out with them
and even exercise together.
All of these are great for
reducing stress.
We are happy to email a PDF of this learning content directly to your school email address.
This content is also available as Gaeilge.
Resilience Theme
This year our theme is student resilience. We provide information on the importance for students of
keeping their mind and body primed to deal with situations that require resilience. We explain the
significance of paying attention to their needs and engaging in activities they enjoy and find relaxing.
Finally, we remind them of the benefits of maintaining a healthy and balanced diet and exercising regularly.
Weekly Diary Spreads
Recording information is the primary function of any school diary so space for writing is vital. Our student
journal maximises on space so your pupils, teachers and parents have the room they need to record
information.
Our weekly diary spread is in full colour at no extra charge to you! We have a range of standard diary
spread options to suit the needs of your school. If what you need is not shown on the next page, please get
in touch with us as we also provide customised diary spreads.

Additional Components
At 4Schools.ie we aim to meet your needs in every way that
we can. That is why we offer our customers the option to add
additional components so you can build the journal that is
right for their school.
On-time Delivery
All of our customers will tell you the same thing.
We’ve never been late with a journal.
Schools have come to recognise our reliability and
our commitment to delivering on time.
We understand how frustrating it can be when
someone does not deliver what they promised,
that is why we are different.
