This change will be effective June 1. We are excited for the opportunity for Steve and his wife, Maggie, and wish them both much success. As for the impact on the Grapevine Chamber, your Board of Directors voted at their Board Meeting, May 3, to accept the Nominating Committee’s recommendation for the following appointments to the Executive Board: CHAIRMAN Joe Szymaszek, Grapevine Mills (Previously Chair-Elect) CHAIR-ELECT Theresa Mason, MIG Real Estate (Previously Treasurer) TREASURER Nathaniel Neal, NJ Graphic Design, Inc. Human capital is a business’ largest expense, and companies that take care of their employees have significantly higher employee productivity and retention. You hired and trained them, and it’s cost effective to keep good people rather than try and hire new ones, which is where we can help. Rovia’s corporate vacation benefit adds fun, freedom and fulfillment to your employees’ lives by allowing them to focus on their jobs and families, while we make all the plans for their annual or biannual vacation. They choose where they want to go, with the peace of mind that it will be first class and the arrangements will be taken care of, at a cost guaranteed to be the lowest, or it’s free. An excellent referral for Linda is a business owner who cares about the well-being, happiness and retention of his or her employees. Want to be a hero to your employees? Contact Linda at (469) 525-0681 or [email protected]. Must Be Present to Win! Those present at the May Membership Luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to Win” Drawing continue its climb. The prize is now up to $450 for June. Each month at the Chamber’s Membership Luncheon, the drawing grows as long as the person whose name is called is not in attendance. To win, all you have to do is show up and hear your name be called! How easy is that? All Chamber members are eligible to win, thanks to the sponsorship from First Financial Bank, NA. Effective Leadership Communication Grit, June 24! with Brian Williams, June 16 Do you know the 4 C’s of effective communication? When you speak, does your audience consider you believable? Does your team regularly buy into your ideas? After you speak, does the audience remember what you said? To learn how to communicate more effectively, join us at the June Grapevine Chamber Luncheon, featuring special guest speaker, Brian Williams. The luncheon, sponsored by Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center and catered by Brio Tuscan Grille, will be Thursday, June 16, at 11:30 a.m., at the Grapevine Convention Center. With over 20 years of global corporate leadership experience ranging from Silicon Valley to Fortune 100 companies in 12 different countries, Brian Williams brings a new perspective to the business of Sales & Communications Training. He discovered that ineffective communication skills, and the problems with traditional presentations, cut across country borders and nationalities, so he wanted to give all speakers a new perspective when he started Perspectivity. He uses his years of corporate and global experience to bring depth and professional insight to the communication skills he enthusiastically teaches today. He has worked with organizations such as Cisco, AT&T, Gatorade, the NFL, and a private company that only serves those on Forbes 400 richest people in the world. Brian lives in Dallas with his wife and 4 children, and is an avid runner, an amateur photographer, and enjoys international travel. Make plans to attend the luncheon at the Grapevine Convention Center, located at 1209 S. Main St. (at the corner of Vine St. & Municipal Way). The cost is $25 with a reservation by 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, or $40 after that date. There is a $5 fee for invoicing, and all reservations not canceled by 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, will be billed. Reservations can be made by contacting the Grapevine Chamber at (817) 481-1522, emailing info@grapevinechamber. org or visiting the Chamber website’s Events Page. The Grapevine Chamber’s Business Insight Series continues Friday, June 24, at The Courtyard/TownePlace Suites by Marriot in Grapevine, with Ross Paterson, Founder of XM Performance, speaking on the topic, Leadership Grit – The Key to Accelerated Results. One of Ross’ mentors in General Electric frequently stated that Leadership is a ‘four-letter’ word, W-OR-K. Many times people strive to get the promotion, start their own business, and become a manager, only to find themselves stressed out, burned out and frustrated with mediocre results. Gritty people are overcomers, champions, and consistently deliver Xtra Mile results. Ross has good news; GRIT can be developed in you, in your team and in your business. 1. 2. 3. 4. Gritty Leaders take on tough assignments Gritty Leaders understand their ‘WHY’ Gritty Leaders create focus Gritty Leaders deliver results Would you like to dramatically accelerate your results for the 2nd half of 2016, and what if you could simultaneously reduce stress, and increase the enjoyment of your leadership role? Join us and learn how to strengthen your GRIT muscles. The Business Insight Series is designed for individual employees, managers or business owners who are interested in improving or developing their business skills. Check-in and registration is from 7:30 – 8 a.m. and the program is from 8 – 9:30 a.m. Cost is $25 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members. Register online at www.
