We’ve mashed together two of our favorite
shows from the past to bring you today’s
show: Comedy Tonight and Extrabbaganza.
Dancing Queen features brand-new comedy
from Leslie Jordan’s extraordinary life and
new arrangements of some of our favorite
music by ABBA. My guess is that most gay
men, including Leslie Jordan, could find an
accompaniment for their life’s journey in this
music. Just look at those titles: “Does Your
Mother Know?,” “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
(A Man After Midnight),” and “Lay All Your
Love on Me.” At last we’re able to sing “I Do! I
Do! I Do! I Do! I Do!” legally in the great state
of Washington, although I hope it “takes” after just one “I do.”
You’re going to experience a wonderful couple of hours of music today, and
learn just a little more (perhaps too much) about our favorite tiny gay funny man
Leslie Jordan. Tonight, you are the winner, and you will take it all home with you.
Don’t forget to join Seattle Men’s Chorus (SMC) and the 5th Avenue Theatre
in a concert production of the musical Hairspray this June. We’ve lined up a stellar
cast and have your 200 favorite chorus boys adding to the talent on stage. If you
were one of the lucky ones who saw Hairspray in its Seattle showcase before going
on to Broadway, you know Seattle loves this show! It went on to Broadway and
won Best Musical and another seven Tony Awards. Don’t miss it.
I’m really looking forward to the 2013-2014 seasons for SMC and Seattle
Women’s Chorus (SWC). Details will be coming out shortly, but I do want to
mention that SMC travels to Germany in June 2014 to present Falling in Love
Again, the stunning choral drama about gay men in the Holocaust. Prior to the
tour, we’ll have a single performance at the Paramount in Seattle. Look for an
announcement about our full 2013-2014 season soon!
Please consider helping to support SMC to go on this historic tour. We’re
raffling off two complete tour packages to Germany so you can travel with SMC
to cities such as Leipzig, Cologne and Berlin (where you’ll participate in the 2014
Berlin Gay Pride Festival). Buy a $25 ticket tonight from a chorus member!

From the Board President
Throughout the year, the Choruses reach out to
the community to entertain, enlighten, unify and
heal our audience and members through the
power of words and music to recognize the value
of all people and their relationships. Tonight,
with the music of ABBA and the narrative
exploits of comedian Leslie Jordan, Seattle Men’s
Chorus will undoubtedly entertain! What a
thrill to be able to offer the blend of these
extraordinary talents to you in one show!
Our outreach goes beyond mainstage
productions and continues year round. The
organization works tirelessly to make a
difference through issues like marriage equality,
coordinating food drives for organizations such as Lifelong AIDS Alliance and
Hopelink, and working to bring music to local schools that no longer have funding
for arts programs. We constantly work to build partnerships that will allow us
to reach more communities around the state and country. This year, in addition
to offering tickets to LGBT youth and their families, we are now providing
complimentary charter bus transportation as part of our Youth Ticket Program,
so folks from Mt. Vernon, Everett, Olympia, and Tacoma can more easily attend
our concerts. Dancing Queen will be performed in Bremerton and Olympia as we
continue to reach out to entertain, enlighten, unify, and heal. Seattle Men’s Chorus
and Seattle Women’s Chorus come together with Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE
and Book-It Repertory Theatre to present our annual FREE Children’s Concert
on April 6, which is an afternoon of musical and theatrical entertainment in the
world-class McCaw Hall!
I hope your calendar includes our annual Black Tie and Sequins Auction,
“Springtime in Paris,” on May 11 at Fremont Studios, as this event raises critical
funds that support our productions and outreach programs.
As always, I hope you will think of Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s
Chorus throughout the year as the choruses continue to change hearts and minds
through the power of music.

Leslie Jordan
In 1982,
stepped off a Greyhound bus from the hills
of Tennessee, said “hello” to Hollywood,
and has never looked back. With hundreds
of television shows, films, and commercials
to his credit, he has become a familiar face
on the entertainment scene.
Winner of the 2006 Emmy Award for Outstanding
Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his delicious portrayal
of “Beverley Leslie” on Will & Grace, Mr. Jordan’s many
other recurring roles and guest-starring appearances on
television include Raising Hope, Neighbors, The Secret
Life of the American Teenager, Desperate Housewives,
Boston Legal, Ugly Betty, and Reba.
In the DreamWorks feature film
The Help, based on the best selling
novel by Kathryn Stockett,
Mr. Jordan plays the pivotal role
of the newspaper editor who hires
Emma Stone’s “Skeeter” to write
the household hints column. Feature
film audiences will also recognize
Mr. Jordan from his performance
as “Brother Boy” in Del Shores’
adaptation of his play Sordid
Lives with Olivia NewtonJohn, Delta Burke, Beth
Grant, and Beau Bridges.
He continued the role in
Sordid Lives… the Series
for the cable network
Logo, which starred Rue
McClanahan, Caroline
Rhea and Bonnie
Bedelia, among others.
On stage, Mr. Jordan
won the Ovation Award,
The Garland Award and
The Los Angeles Drama
Critics Circle Award for
his portrayal of “Preston Leroy,”
*Leslie Jordan will perform in Seattle only
the aging, sodden barfly in Del Shores hit play Southern
Baptist Sissies. The play was recently filmed and a feature
release is anticipated.
In addition to acting, Mr. Jordan is also an author and
playwright. His book My Trip Down the Pink Carpet
for Simon & Schuster formed the basis of a 90-minute
one-man show, which had a 45 city book-signing/
performance tour, a successful twelve-week off-Broadway
run at the Midtown Theater in New York City, and a
six-week run at the Apollo Theater in London’s West End.
A video of the Atlanta performance, directed by Amanda
Bearse, is available on Netflix.
Mr. Jordan’s other autobiographical one-man shows,
Like a Dog on Linoleum, Full of Gin and Regret, From
Whence I Came, Deck Them Halls Y’All, and Stories I Can’t
Tell Mama have been performed to audiences across the
country; the autobiographical not-quite-a-one-man-show
Hysterical Blindness and Other Southern Tragedies That
Have Plagued My Life Thus Far ran to sold-out houses
in Los Angeles, and had a successful run off-Broadway
at the Playhouse on Van Dam in New York
City. His latest autobiographical play
Fruit Fly is making its way to cities
across the U.S. after a sold-out run
at Celebration Theatre in Los
Angeles, performing at the All
for One Theater Festival in
New York City, and at the
Leister Square Theater in
London, England.
Mr. Jordan’s
screenplay Lost in
the Pershing Point
Hotel won the Los
Angeles Independent
Film Festival’s
Production Grant
Award, winning the
competition from
over 600 other scripts.
Subsequently, it was made
into an independent feature
film distributed by Northern

Who’s Who
Dennis Coleman
Artistic Director, Flying House Productions
Dennis was appointed
conductor of Seattle
Men’s Chorus in May,
1981, less than two
years after the organization’s founding.
Under Dennis’s leadership, the Chorus grew
quickly in membership size and audience
attendance and soon became well-known
throughout the region for their entertaining
and musically varied concerts. Now, after
three decades as Artistic Director, Dennis is
recognized nationally as a founder of the
GLBT choral movement and has led Flying
House Productions to a position as one of
the most successful and largest community
chorus organizations in the country. Dennis
also serves as the founding Artistic Director
of the Seattle Women’s Chorus (SWC) which
has matured musically and established their
own audience base. Together, SMC and SWC
sing with a combined membership larger
than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, a distinction in which Dennis delights.
Dennis served on the national Board of
Directors for Chorus America and was a
founding Board member for the Gay and
Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA).
He has received numerous awards including
the 2010 Mayor’s Arts Award and the establishment of a scholarship fund for GLBT
music students that is managed by the Pride
Foundation.
As a UCC church musician, Dennis has
conducted the choir of First Congregational
Church of Bellevue since 1981. The 45-voice
choir has toured Europe three times, New
Zealand in 2005, South Africa in 2008 and
Peru in 2011.

Advisor up until February of 2012. Prior
to his tenure at Village Theatre, he had
been the Marketing and Public Relations
Director at Kirkland Performance Center,
and before that he was the Marketing
Director for ArtsWest. Frank has been a
singing member of Seattle Men’s Chorus
since January 1999.
Eric Lane Barnes
Assistant Artistic Director, Flying House Productions
Eric is a nationally
known writer, composer, playwright
and director. His

pieces have been published through
Shawnee Press, including “Lambscapes,”
“It’s Our Christmas Cheer” and “Glee.”
Recently Eric wrote songs and underscoring
for the films In-laws and Outlaws, Waxie
Moon, and the upcoming Fallen Jewel.
Evan Stults
Principal Accompanist, Seattle Men’s Chorus
Evan is an accomplished vocal accompanist whose experience spans opera,
recital, musical theatre, choral music,
and cabaret. He has
played for Seattle
Opera and The 5th Avenue Theatre, and
played for dozens of musicals in professional and community theatres, as well as
off-Broadway. Evan’s accompanying career
includes international tours and performances in Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall,
