FACULTY OF SCIENCES Faculty ofCOMPUTER Social Sciences Welcome to the Faculty of Social Sciences Al-Khair University Bhimber, Azad Jammu and Kashmir started Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) from Fall Semester (November) 2011 with 3 Departments' namely Department of Urdu & Pakistani languages, Department of Pakistan Studies & History, Department of Islamic Studies. Under the above three Departments Al-Khair University has launched MA., MPhil and PhD programs for both male and female students. All the programs of faculty are offered on dual mode of instructions comprising distance learning and face to face component. The students will have to complete the requirements prescribed by HEC at par with other Universities in the country. The Credit hours completed in this University are recognized and transferable in the universities associated with Commonwealth Association of Universities UK. The University is now planning for its expansion to start Departments of English, International Relation, Economics, Sociology, Gender and Women Studies and Political Science in the near future. Our ideals are to impart high level research and teaching to train the students in research and to promote cooperation in inter-disciplinary and intra-disciplinary relationship of teaching and research. We have a target to arrange conferences, seminars, lecturers by distinguished scholars and writers for development of teaching and research. Having these ideals in mind and heart join us in exploration of untouched research topics, for example the Subaltern Studies. We are also promoting research in regional histories of Pakistan generally with a special reference to the area study of Kashmir. Principal objective to start the Department is enlightening the students on ideological, political, historical, social, cultural and global significance of Pakistan. MA. Pakistan Studies program is aimed at focusing on deeper study of geography, history, politics, economics, culture, society and religions of Pakistan to understand its historical traits. The program will help in understanding Pakistan in its national, regional and international scenario in the background of world politics. The program will train a generation of qualified social scientists capable of understanding Pakistan in its true perspective. MA Pakistan Studies is a 4 Semester program spread over 2 years. The objective of the program is to undertake in-depth study of various facets of Pakistan, geography, history, politics, religion, society, foreign policy, economy etc in the light of primary sources. The degree also involves a research paper in each semester. After completion of 2 Semesters' course work, the student will be required to work on a thesis of 12 credit hours as part of statutory requirement for this degree.
