RULES AND REGULATIONS OF SRI LANKA MERCANTILE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT 2016
General:1) Teams must represent Institutions/Organizations registered under Sri Lanka Mercantile sector.
2) All players must be employees of the institution and they should have joined to your institution
before 30th June 2016. ( EPF /ETF should pay, from the date of appointment to the EPF /ETF
department)
3) Each team must pay tournament fee of Rs. 3000/=.
4) Cheques should be drawn in favor of “Mercantile Volleyball Association “ and crossed or should
be paid to
undermentioned account and submit the scan copy of the payment bank receipt to
either the email address or to the postal address given below

5) All Teams should be present at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time at the grounds. If any
team fails to turn up even after the grace periods of 10 minutes, the Team present shall be
awarded a Walk-over.
6) All players must have their company ID cards & National ID cards.
7) All players must wear proper playing attire with Numbers.
8) No omissions or additions to the original applications submitted.
9) Tournament will be conducted under the rules of Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and International
Volleyball Federation.
10) Final decision of the tournament is vested with the Executive committee of the Mercantile
Volleyball Association and it has to be honored by every team. Every team is bound to respect the
decisions of the referees.
11) Any protest should be forward to the Tournament Committee with Rs.1000/=, before the match or
within one hour after the match.
12) Preliminary matches (Outdoor) will be held on 20th & 21st of August 2016 and the Grand Finals
(Indoor) will be held on 16th and 17th September at Youth Services Center, Maharagama.
13) Duly filled applications should be sent to the following address to be reached on or before 30th of
July 2016 or Fax/email to the address given above.

The Tournament structure will be as follows;
SUPER LEAGUE MEN: Last year Super League teams & promoted 02 Teams from Championship are qualified.
Promoted from Championship 2015

MAS Active Leisureline




Final two teams of the Championship will be promoted to Super league and the Super league’s last
two teams will be dropped to the Championship.
Players who selected for the Super League are not allowed to pay for the Championship.
In the event of any Super League player of last year has left, the organization should informed to the
Mercantile Volleyball association with the 2016 application. Such player will be not allowed to play
for the Championship for one year period.
New players can be included to the Super League team.

Tournament shall be conducted on knockout basis.
Championship Men / Women.

The same teams who played for last year Championship are entitled to play for championship
category except the teams which were qualified for finals. ( Men and Women 04 teams)

Last year Men/ Women teams which were qualified for finals ( 04 teams) will be promoted to
Super League.

More than one team could represent an Institution/Organization and each team should pay entry
fees separately.

Men’s Teams which was selected for quarterfinals in 2015, (08 Teams) will be promoted to the
Championship2016.

Women’s Teams which was selected for semifinals in 2015 (04 Teams) will be promoted to the
Championship2016.

All the newcomers should play under A Division except teams who are having two or more than
two players played for Sri Lanka / SL Youth / SL Junior teams. Such teams should be registered
under Championship.
