Pedersen June 2016 Prayer Letter
The Pedersen Praises Newsletter from Dave and Mari Pedersen “Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.” Proverbs 25:25 June 2016 Reaching the Americas! TWR has been broadcasting to the Americas from Bonaire for more than 50 years. The Bonaire super station has been a very powerful tool to reach people with the gospel for many years. The Power Up project will increase that reach to areas we do not cover and improve reception in areas that do not have clear reception now. The Bonaire station is only part of how TWR reaches the Americas with radio. We have partner offices in 14 countries and broadcasting/production facilities situated in key countries. They produce high-quality, original programs for the Americas Region in 15 languages and dialects and/or serve as the link between listeners and churches in many Latin American countries. They also provide TWR programming material to hundreds of regional and local AM, FM, and shortwave stations all across Latin America. RTM is the organization of TWR’s Latin American partners. For more information on our RTM partners, please visit the TWR Americas web page at https://www.twr.org/ americas. The recent Americas Partners Conference yielded encouraging ministry developments for Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba and Paraguay, to name just a few. RTM Paraguay, one of the RTM partners, has the potential to reach more than half the country’s 7 million inhabitants. According to a recent ministry report, RTM Paraguay’s programs currently reach an estimated audience of at least 1 million people every week. Among the most popular programs, Project Hannah’s Women of Hope in Spanish is regularly aired over 21 radio stations throughout the country. The Guaranilanguage version is aired on 26 radio stations, while the Low German, Nivaclé, and Enhlet versions are broadcast on The Voice of Paraguayan Chaco and Chaqueña FM. The primary reason is for Joshua’s annual spina bifida checkup. We will also be investigating and processing applications for him to be registered for NC state special services to help with his disabilities if he decides to take up residence or attend school in NC. An old stone wall on Bonaire’s east coast. It marks the boundary between two old farms. Mari will also be researching NC state services for Lydia that she will need when she turns 18 and chooses to live in NC. Lydia will be seeing an allergy doctor as she suffers from many food intolerances. We are also very pleased to report that the medical insurance claims for Lydia’s care in 2015 have been resolved with a very favorable outcome for us. Thank you for praying for this need. Rachel is going along to NC for a change of pace and scenery. She is doing well in her schoolwork, tennis, and volleyball. Mari will also be seeing her doctor in the States for her medical needs, tests, and new prescriptions. Mari will need a minivan or SUV for the three weeks they are in NC. We have a rental van reserved, but it will cost almost as much as the plane tickets. Please pray the Lord will provide a loaner vehicle for Mari to use to save that cost. Dave recently installed an air conditioner in our house. A new house has been built behind our home, blocking the prevailing breeze. Coupled with a hotter year on Bonaire, the heat has become quite debilitating for Mari and the kids during homeschool time in the day, exceeding 95° and 75% humidity. The medical travel to and in the USA will be covered from our Pedersen Special Medical Fund. If your would like to help with some of the expected expenses of $6,000, you can contribute via our staff web page at https://donate.twr.org/p-128dave-and-mari-pedersen.aspx and select “Medical Fund”. Dave is traveling to the US sometime this summer as well. The new phasor-room system that divides the transmitter signal to the four towers is being preassembled in Tennessee. Dave and two colleagues will travel to the factory to see how the parts are laid out and learn about the design. It will then be disassembled and shipped to Bonaire, where it will be reassembled . A view of Bonaire: No STOP signs or traffic lights on Bonaire, just yield signs. Californians who like “rolling stops“ would be quite comfortable here as such stops are not only accepted but encouraged. Praises & Prayers Praise Bonaire ministry doing well. Lydia’s medical insurance finally resolved very favorably. The great contributions of the many volunteer teams. Prayer needs Vehicle needed for 3 weeks in NC in July and August. Medical-trip expenses. Safe travels to the USA this summer. Bonaire power upgrade. Monthly support need of $550. Support Update We are $550 below the required $8,200/month support. Please pray for new ministry partners and for the monthly giving to increase quickly. TWR counts only pledged support. Please contact us if you feel led to start or increase financial support of our ministry. Recurring and special one-time gifts can be given at our staff web page below. You can also contact TWR Donor Services by mail or telephone to set up regular or special giving. https://www.twr.org/global-staff/ pedersen
