Louie 2017 DearFriends, The Bible is often called the “Greatest Story Ever Told” because it describes for us the love of God as it unfolds throughout human history. Stories are about love. Since there has been no greater love there can be no greater story. Today, as we proclaim the great story of Jesus’ suffering and death, we cannot help but feel stunned and maybe even overwhelmed when we understand that he underwent these torments for you and for me. Jesus was not just a victim of circumstances. He was not in the wrong place at the wrong time. Rather he accepted the torturous death on the cross out of love for us, to take on himself the punishment we all deserved for our sins. I urge you this week ahead to commit to enter into the life and suffering of our Lord like you’ve never done before. Make plans now to honor the Eucharist with the Holy Thursday evening service. Come to the most solemn funeral ever witnessed on Good Friday afternoon. Approach the empty tomb with excitement and hope on Holy Saturday evening as we bring the Paschal Light of Christ into our Church and community. Fr.Louie WordfortheDay As long as the candle burns, there is still time to make repairs. Rabbi Salanter Next year during Lent 2017, I will be leading a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land and to Jordan. Please contact me at the Church if interested. Fr. Sr. Carm traveled with a group to Kenya in 2014. After several days of teaching at the Soweto Academy in Kibera, Africa’s largest slum, it became clear to the group that the high school girls in Kibera need a safe place to be educated, a protected environment to become the next generation of change, and the space to better their community. Since 2014 the group who traveled to Kenya have been working on plans to build a dorm.
