2015-2016 UPDATE
COASTAL PLAINS AREA
DISCIPLES OF CHRIST
OCTOBER 2015
BIG THANKS
A big thank you again to all those who helped staff and
prepare our camps this year. We couldn’t have done it
without you.
We want to especially thank our
directors who put in countless
hours to get ready for camp. This
year our directors included: Leslie
Wilcox,
David
Christman,
Scott Miller, and Judy Dalton.
We are so grateful that there are
so many volunteers that help get
camp together each year. It is the
single largest event(s) that the area
does and it truly takes everyone to
help make it happen. We will begin
to look early this year to staff camps
for 2016, so please if you are interested
email youth @cpadisciples.org now to
make sure you are on the mailing list
for staff applications.
Everyone is welcome to be part of the
camp program and staff applications
are listed on the CPA web page as soon
as they are available. Please make sure
that you fill out the paperwork in its
entirety .
We are looking forward to another
successful camping program in 2016!
Prices for our week long camp experienced in June and July will be
staying the same for the 2016 camp year! Yea. Please note that
there are deadline changes. Final deadlines for camps are 1 month
before the start of the event and the early registration cutoff will
be 3 months before the start of the corresponding camp. Please see
the deadlines page in this newsletter!

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer dolor te
Junior/Beginner
(Gradestincidunt.
4 and 5) - Campers will engage faith and Bible stories through interactive learning
diam wisi nibh- euismod
stations and creative, energetic worship experiences. Arts and crafts, games, swimming are also part of the
experience.
CYF Conference - (Grades 9-12) - Conference 2016 will focus on who we are as the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ). What do we believe and why? Reconnect with God and new and old friends during this one of a kind
week that you will never forget.
8’ers Camp - (Grade 8) - 8’ers is designed to teach campers about spirituality and sexuality through a
wonderful Christian curriculum. Parents will receive detailed information about each day’s topic and theme after
they enroll their camper in the session.
one week of
church camp
is equivalent
to more than 6
months of
Sunday School!
Chi Rho - (Grades 6 and 7) - Chi Rho Camp is one of the most unique and memorable experiences of all our summer
camps. The week is filled with silly large groups games, small groups where we practice talking about our faith, worship
experiences and great keynotes
Family Camp - (All ages accompanied by an adult family member) - This camp is for families of all ages as long as one
child attending is under the age of 18 and one adult is over the age of 21. The goal of Family Camp is sabbath! Families
come to rest, play and worship together. What a great way to kick off the summer!
Which ever camp you go to you will have a great time growing in faith,
building new relationships and having fun.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Youth Leadership Team
The YLT is a great way to be involved in area youth ministry and leadership development. This is for you
who are looking to be more involved or who are even discerning a call into ministry. We encourage you to
participate if you can. EVERY congregation can send one representative from their church to be part of this
team. This representative should be active in their home congregation by attending worship, youth events
and other church events regularly. If you would like more information please email [email protected]

Welcome Brittany Heganan!
We are excited to welcome Brittany as our newest Children and youth Ministries Chair for
the CPA! She is no stranger to youth ministry or the CPA! We
have been blessed to have her as staff over the past couple of
years at retreats and CYF camp. She is a youth leader at her
church, Kingwood Christian Church.
So, Welcome! Please when you see her, give her a big hug and
thank you for taking on this fun and exciting task. A little about
her? Well she graduated from LSU (but we won’t hold that
against her). Go Tigers!
She has a wide variety of interests and stays busy. She has a
wonderful caring personality and a deep faith. We are excited
and lucky to have her volunteering and working with our MPT
and youth.
WELCOME!
