the young and the restless - Michael Fairman On-Air On
THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS
ctorS Joshua Morrow
and Sharon Case
believe it's destiny
and the notion of
'love conquers all' that keeps
fans barracking for their
characters Nick and Sharon
to reunite. Well it looks like
they're going to get their
wish, but it won't be smooth
sailing - a healthy dose of
soap chaos will only make
the fairytale sweeter after all. ..

and Sharon once
JOSHUA "It was awesome!
I never had the experience of
shooting on location. It was
a great experience being out
side and in a city as rich in
culture as Paris. It was cool
the way they brought the char
acters there, and having them
kiss on the bridge was a great
idea in the telling of the story."
HA
"I thought it was
really nice to put Nick and
Sharon back together that
way. Also, it's so far away
and the city is so lovely, so
it's like a dream. In that
instance, Nick and Sharon
could be together and they
did not have to deal with the
reality of life intervening. Now,
they have to face reality,
so the question is: can the
fantasy be a reality?"
Ho did you eel when
you learnt your characters'
romanc would b r vlved
in the city ot love?
SH
0 "It was not
a surprise because I always
thought one day Nick and
Sharon would get back
together. I never knew if that
would happen for sure, but it
seemed likely. I was glad that
we were keeping the whole
storyline going and the
triangle going, because the
fans seem to really like it."
JOSHUA ':A.nybody who
watches soaps knew at some
point these characters would
get back together. They chose
a beautiful backdrop to do it.
They were not gelling back
together yet; it's a small step
to something bigger."
Was MIchelle Stafford

JOSHUA "I think as actors,
we welcome anything that
adds dimension and colour to

our job, so this was great for
the show to do something
like this, and Michelle was
certainly excited about the
prospects of this causing
more drama and chaos.
Anybody who doesn't
want some of that is in
the wrong business."
Sharo , Id you hay a
hard time with Sharon
sticking wIth Jack (Peter
Bergman) after he lied to
her s many times?
HARO "No. They are
married and marriage
means a lot to Sharon. You
don't just give up if someone
makes mistakes. Marriages
can go through long periods
when things are bad, but
it's for 'better or worse:
Despite that point of view,
she still finally gave up,
because she felt no
and Nick's marriage. Sharon
and Nick were young and
silly, and they had to over
come so many obstacles.
Jack and Sharon did not
have to overcome so many
obstacles of that nature.
The problems that they
had were real problems
that couples have."
was this beautifully told love
story. I think the core of our
audience wants romance,
and that is what we accom
plished. I think Nick and
Sharon are like this old
comfortable sweater; it
makes you feel good."
HARO "I think what
Nick and Sharon stand for
in a lot of people's hearts
is that love will conquer all.
be ready. It's great to have
someone like that to play
against as an adversary.
The last time I had someone
like that to play against was
when I had Grace, played
by Jennifer Gareis."

screen, but before you celebrate,
there's arocky road ahead
matter what she did, things
will never change."
To what do you credi the
opularity of Sharon and
Nick as a coupl ?
JO HUA "It was good lim
ing years ago, to introduce
this star-crossed love affair.
They were these young kids
who fell madly in love, and
went through every problem
imaginable to be together; it

HARO "Oh, I love it!
Michelle always comes
with her game. I don't have
to think about what she is
going to do; she is going to
professionalism. Young
people can watch and learn
about acting from Peter. He
is one of my heroes, honest
ly. He is made of better stuff
than most people I know."
A
"It has really
been a great storyline to
work with Peter, and he is
easy to work with. I have no
complaints there. I liked how
Sharon and Jack's marriage
was very different to Sharon

emo ions or situatIons that
you (ina chall nging?
JOSHUA "I'm relatively
new to acting (compared)
to most of our cast. I don't
think I have ever figured out
how to do my job. I am not
a good enough actor to
generate heartbreaking
emotion; it has to be some
thing that affects me. A lot
of people in our cast (can
be) joking around and they
yell, Action!: and they
can just switch into these
powerful emotions. I am
amazed how people can
do that. Sharon, Melody
Thomas Scott (Nikki) and
Michelle are such profes
sionals. I think to myself, 'I
don't want to suck in this:"

"One thing that's
really hard is when my char
acter is not doing anything.
It's not just that it's boring,
but if you don't have
anything to say, and
nothing is being written for
your character, you have to
put it in there yourself.
That is challenging."
Can you reveal anything
about wh t's coming up
for Nick n
h ron'
romance 10 00 ~
OSHUA "You can start
to see the old Phyllis
coming back in. She will
be devious and not the
Suzie homemaker any
more, and it will create
problems for everybody.
This is the way the marriage
may start to unraveL"

Nick and haron have
more and more connect
