 Ryan’s Day VOLUNTEER INFORMATION What’s different about Ryan’s Day Volunteers? WE KNOW ALL ABOUT DMD AND THE CURRENT STATUS CONCERNING FINDING A CURE. We know Wheelz’ story and are able to repeat it. Our higher purpose is to spread awareness about DMD. ON RYAN’S DAY volunteers will wear bright red shirts (cardinal red if possible) to symbolize the emergency that finding a cure truly is. Ryan’s Day Board Leslie Schmidt, Laura Bruhn, Larry Schmidt, Grace Sharington Executive Producer Ryan “Wheelz” Schmidt 1 VOLUNTEER AND RYAN’S DAY COMMITTEE ROLES Executive Producer: Final decisions impacting Ryan’s Day are made by the Executive Producer. Ryan’s Day Board Members: Assists the Executive Producer of Ryan’s Day and may be appointed by him to make certain decisions which impact Ryan’s Day. Volunteer Coordinator: Responsible for assigning roles to individuals interested in volunteering for Ryan’s Day and overseeing all volunteers “day of.” Present for the duration. Set –up: Responsible for event staging and preparation. Event Manager/Director: Present for the duration. This individual’s ONLY role is to make sure the entire event runs as planned and on schedule; troubleshooting & quick decisions will be necessary. Works directly with Executive Producer. Stage Manager: Works alongside the Event Manager to make sure all performers and scheduled stage appearances happen when they are SUPPOSED to. Fills in when the stage manager is on break. Key Holder: Trusted individual whom the money is kept and if necessary, is taken to other locations throughout the day in order to keep the amount “on hand” low. Works with runner and/or security to make sure finances are accounted for. Video Media Director: In charge of video/photography placement throughout the event. Responsible for making sure Ryan’s Day has optimum media coverage “day of.” Coordinates & consults with Press/Media Director. Runner: Mobile individual(s) familiar with immediate area capable of running assigned errands whether within venue (close proximity) or within vicinity (Georgetown area.) General Information Manager: Present for the duration. Individual with a “Run of Show” knowledge, able to answer general questions from the public regarding time frames, activities, and Duchenne Muscual Dystrophy. General Information: Greeters with a “Run of Show” knowledge (provided by Ryan’s Day Core Committee,) able to answer general questions from the public regarding time frames, activities, and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. General Information individuals may be asked to fill in for various Managers for breaks and assist in in a variety of areas. General Information (Greeters) will circulate the public areas and hand out swag bags, etc. Kid Activities Manager: Responsible for guiding families around the kid-­‐friendly activities and gently educating the children about DMD. Karaoke Manager: Liaison between karaoke team and attendees. Encouraging karaoke performances, singing themselves if necessary, and educating the audience about DMD if the opportunity presents itself. Backstage Manager: Present for the duration. Responsible for band/talent timeliness and comfort. Educate performers about DMD if the opportunity presents itself. Encourage performers to talk about why they are “here today.” Backstage Assistance: Assist the Backstage Manager in providing a comfortable environment for performers and speakers. Prepared to discuss DMD. Silent Auction Manager: Present for the duration. Oversees the entire silent auction function and has knowledge about each item. Assists the emcees by bringing prizes to the stage if asked, and answering questions. Silent Auction Assistance: Assists the Silent Auction Manager. Encourages guests to bid! Raffle Manager: Present for the duration. Oversees the entire raffle and has knowledge about each item. Assists the emcees by bringing prizes to the stage if asked, and answering questions. Raffle Assistance: Assists the Raffle Manager. Encourages guests to buy! 2 Press Media Director: Present for the duration. Individual that possess THE MOST knowledge about Ryan’s Day, DMD, and can serve as our “mouthpiece” when it comes to interviews and media. Security: Responsible for protecting the wellbeing of The 3rd Annual Ryan’s Day. The need to troubleshoot or escort runners may be necessary.
