In the SpotLight Ravenwood
In the SpotLight Ravenwood Ravenwood was established in 1983 by Diane Corbo and Val Carrano. Diane, a Registered Nurse working in oncology at Yale New Haven Hospital and Val, a Research Associate at Yale Medical School, moved from Connecticut to Provincetown to follow their dream of living in Provincetown yearround. Diane’s mother, Loretta, found the house first while on a walk during her vacation in the summer of 1982. She convinced Diane and Val, (who had been looking for something to buy for about two years) to go take a look at it. Val immediately fell in love with the house, an 1830 Greek Revival Style, originally a sea captain’s home with a floater cottage which had been attached to the main house sometime after 1830. They bought the house in May 1983. Ravenwood has survived the test of time and over the past 30 years Ravenwood has been the recipient of much recognition from the hospitality industry, most recently for 2012 from Trip Advisor for “impressive business RAVENWOOD standards” called to Trip Advisor’s attention by the many accolades bestowed on Ravenwood by its guests. We are proud to be one of the two founding members of the Women Innkeepers organization which began as a small cocktail party given by Diane and Val for other women innkeepers at Ravenwood in the fall of 1984. From its humble beginnings the Women Innkeepers has become an organization known worldwide and is about to celebrate the 29th year of Women’s week.
