LifeTime Karate
Lifetime Karate has practiced the Korean Martial Art, Tae
Kwon Do on the west side of Cleveland for over the past
27 years. We have honed and designed our program as a
non-violent art system that may be practiced for the rest of
your life; a lifetime. It is physical, mental and philosophical in
discipline. Physically students will develop coordination and
a strong body. Mentally students will build self-confidence,
self-control and perseverance. Philosophically students will
learn respect, humility, integrity and courtesy. All aspects of
the five tents of Tae Kwon Do.
This program is offered for all ages beginning at 7 to adult.
Classes are offered on Wednesday evenings or Saturday
afternoons in 6 week sessions.

Taekwondo (K-6)
The Westlake City Schools and Master Park’s Martial Arts
are sponsoring the after school beginner Project Link
Taekwondo Club. Students will learn balance, coordination,
strength, agility and conditioning. As well as being taught
self-control, concentration, self-respect, manners, honor,
fortitude, etiquette, and basic Korean culture. Classes will
be taught by Grand Master Jong-Ho Park, Westlake Parent
and proprietor of Master Park’s Taekwondo Academy. Master Park is a 7th degree black belt with a Master’s Degree in
Martial Arts Education and former member of the Korean
National Martial Arts team.

Project Link Before & After-School Program (K-6)
Project Link is the before and after school program provided by
the Westlake Board of Education to families residing in Westlake.
Project Link is located at Bassett Elementary, Dover Elementary,
Hilliard Elementary, Holly Lane Elementary and Dover Intermediate – and is in session each instructional day from 6:30 A.M. until
the start of the school day and again from the conclusion of the
school day until 6:00 P.M. Our mission is to provide students
with an enriching, creative, and safe before and after school experience – directly aligned with academic content standards. Students are empowered to achieve personal growth and satisfaction in an environment, which is both exciting and nurturing. The
Westlake Board of Education charges $5.00/hour for the first child
and $4.50/hour for each additional child enrolled from the same
family – for Project Link care. There is also a $25.00/child
registration fee. Project Link hours are purchased in blocks of
twenty and students are only charged for time physically spent
within the Project Link program, and once enrolled, students are
able to attend as often or as little as desired. Project Link enrollment information is available at www.wlake.org/link, the Westlake
City Schools Administration Building or any school office.

This class will be a dynamic and fun way for kids to
explore the innumerable benefits of yoga. Through
games, activities, and meditation, kids will develop body
awareness, strength, flexibility, endurance, and confidence,

camp available to children entering grades K-8 at the start of
the 2016-2017 school year. Camp Link provides students with
a safe, active, and enriching
summer experience. Camp
Link is held at Parkside and
will be in session daily June
13-August 17 from 7:00 A.M.6:00 P.M. and is available to
students entering grades K-8
at the start of the 2016-2017
school year. Activities include
weekly field and swim trips as
well as many, many hands on,
active and enriching learning
experiences. Camp Link offers
two distinct student experiences – one for students entering
grades K-3 and one for students entering grades 4-8.

Great Lakes Science Center – Great Science Camps:
The Great Lakes Science Center makes science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM) come alive! We encourage curiosity and foster the innovation and ingenuity that
will make our community a better place. Our professional
teaching staff is instituting a Problem Based Learning model
in each of our classrooms this summer. Campers will experiment with methods of problem solving to overcome challenges that promote self-efficacy and critical thinking. Since
it is summer camp, we can’t forget the fun! Each camp week
is designed to be the perfect combination of excitement,
STEM challenge and memory-making. When your child leaves
camp, we hope they take with them a renewed sense of awe
for the world around them! The Science Center received a full
re-accreditation in 2015 as a multi-site camp by the American
Camp Association. This means a safe, quality experience for
every camper, every time. We’re so excited to serve you and
your family as we solve problems together in 2016!

Summer Chess Camp
Project Link and Progress
with Chess are proud to offer
this annual week long chess
camp for students in grades
K-8, 24 attended last year!
All levels welcome, from
beginner to expert! Students
will thrive in our supportive
environment, receiving plenty of individual attention in small
groups, divided by age and skill level. Chess sets and equipment provided. Full day campers bring lunch, all may bring
snacks if desired. The camp will be conducted by “Progress
with Chess”, a local non-profit organization which provides
chess instruction in over 50 Greater Cleveland locations,
employing an experienced staff of professional instructors.
Beginning students will master the rules and moves of the
pieces, basic strategy and checkmates. More experienced
players will explore openings, endgames, and tactics and
checkmate patterns. Activities include a healthy mixture of
interactive lessons and supervised open play. A short recess is
scheduled in the morning and afternoon with opportunities
for physical exercise. Lunch and free time will be from noon
to 1 P.M. daily. Pizza Party for all campers and family members

Dreamin’ Demons Cheer Camp
Participants will be introduced to Westlake cheerleading,
learning basic Westlake chants and cheers while be
instructed on proper form and technique – jumps,
motion placement, dance moves, transitions, formations
and beginning tumbling. The session culminates with
a performance at a WHS home football game. Class
will be taught by WHS Cheerleading Coaches Nancy English &
