This$whole$summer$we$are$going$to$learn$that$[Bottom&Line]$God%made%everything.$You$will$be$
introducing$a$day$of$Creation$using$a$train$theme.$$

the$light$so$we$could$do$special$things$during$the$day,$and$He$made$dark$for$the$things$we$do$at$night.$
On$Day$One,$God$made$light$and$dark.$Let’s$put$our$train$car$up$on$the$wall$to$help$us$remember$that$
God$made$light$and$dark$on$Day$One$(tape$train$#1$to$the$wallS$making$sure$there$will$be$room$for$the$
remainder$of$the$train$cars$throughout$the$summer).$

Prepare$to$offer$one$or$more$of$the$following$activities$as$your$2SyearSolds$arrive.$Let$one$or$two$
teachers$lead$small$groups$of$children$in$activities$throughout$the$room$while$another$teacher$greets$

“Jump!on!the!Train”!is!an!activity!that!uses!gross!motor!movements!and!listening!skills!to!introduce!this!
month’s!theme.!

During!the!activity:!Line$children$up$and$chug$around$the$room$like$a$train.$Make$your$train$bigger$by$
adding$children$to$the$line$as$you$go$around$the$room.$Encourage$children$to$make$train$noises.$$

“Tent!Time”!is!an!activity!that!allows!children!to!experience!the!difference!between!light!and!dark.!

What%You%Need:%A$flashlight;$a$large,$dark$blanket;$and$a$table$(Options:!Instead!of!making!a!tent!with!
the!blanket!and!table,!you!can!use!a!small!tent).!(The materials for this activity are in your room)

During!the!activity:!Make$a$tent$by$spreading$a$large$blanket$over$a$table$so$it$drapes$down$over$the$
edges.$Crawl$under$the$table$with$the$children.$Turn$on$the$flashlight$and$guide$children$to$clap$and$say$
the$word$“light.”$(Note:!Dim!the!lights!in!the!room,!if!possible.)$

Give$each$child$a$yellow$square$and$let$them$come$up$and$glue$the$yellow$square$onto$the$left$side$of$
the$train$car.$Then$remind$them$that$God$made$the$dark$too.$Give$each$child$a$black$square$and$allow$
them$to$glue$their$black$squares$on$to$the$right$side.$$

Over the next two months, we will be learning
about how God made EVERYTHING! We will
be learning about each day of creation and will
have a train car to represent each day. This will
be our CREATION STATION! With this note you
will find a train engine. We encourage you to cut
it out and find a special place in your home with
your child to hang it. Each week, when your child
brings home a new train car from our CREATION
STATION, you can add it to your train at home.
This is a wonderful way to review with your little
one how God made EVERYTHING! Thank you so
much for sharing your sweet child with us!
