A Scottish Welcome Welcome to Scotland! And an especially warm welcome to those of you who have ventured north of the border for a second time, having attended our 10th Anniversary bash in 2006. At our 10th Anniversary event there was a lot of excitement about the possible imminent announcement by Honda of the third generation of Pan European. Here we are, 6 years later, and there is a lot of excitement about an imminent announcement by Honda of a third generation of Pan European. Some things never change, but luckily that includes the glorious Scottish countryside (and weather), and the Scots ability to find an excuse for a party in everything. The Scots are also renowned for being ‘canny’ with their money. This does not mean that they are ‘tight’ but careful, and spend it wisely. The Scots are also incredibly generous to others in a less fortunate position than themselves. To this end this year’s celebrations are supporting the National Association for Bikers with a Disability (N.A.B.D.). This charity was formed by bikers who refused to accept that someone with a disability could not get the same level of enjoyment as we do from riding a bike. NABD help with the design and adaptation of motorcycles to meet an individual’s needs. There will be a lot more information about the charity around the event. There will also be a raffle, and every single prize you see (and there are lots of them) have been donated, for which we thank every one of the donors. Every penny raised from the raffle will go to NADB. All of us in the Scottish Area of the Pan‐Clan thank you for coming to our little Birthday Bash. In 5 years time we’ll be 21. I’ll leave that thought with you! Dress Code This is a celebration weekend and we want to avoid formality where possible. All we ask is that smart and casual clothes are worn on the Saturday night for the Dinner and dancing (to a live band). The Sunday night’s entertainment will include a Ceilidh band (Scottish Country Dancing) which will involve a lot of dancing, so comfortable clothing is advisable. For those that have it, can I please ask them to wear Tartan to give the evening a bit of Scottish Tradition? Kilts are encouraged! Strathearn Tyres ‐ Crieff (see back page) Committee If you need to talk to one of the organisers, check if there is anyone in the registration office; otherwise find someone wearing a maroon coloured Polo shirt with the event emblem. All committee members have their name badges on neck straps to help you further to identify them. There will always be someone on duty to answer any queries you may have. The run Leaders and car park marshals will have a light blue hi‐viz bib. If none of these work, then phone number contact details are on the back page of this programme. Supply and repair of tyres (cars and bikes). Bike Parking Please park your bike in the reserved area to the front of the Hotel. There is 24‐hr security for this event, and the bikes will be watched all the time. Meal Timings. Meal timings are as per the programme on page 2. Please pay particular attention to Sunday evening’s time for Dinner as we have planned this carefully to fit in with the Demonstration/Dinner/Dance/Draw programme. Hotel Bill Payment Guests are requested to please clear all bills with their hotel before their departure.

Run Details There are 3 runs arranged which are completely optional. If you wish to participate in any of the 3 runs which are to be led by one of our members using the tail‐end‐Charlie system, you MUST register for that run beforehand. We shall be limiting each run to 20 bikes, so it will be first‐come‐first‐served. Alternatively, instructions for all 3 runs are available so that you can do your own thing. The same runs will be arranged for both Saturday and Sunday. All runs are subject to change due to traffic or road closure. Please make sure you know how long you have at each stop, as timings may change depending on traffic conditions, and we would like you back in time to get changed before your evening meal! Run A – The Trossachs ‐ 205 miles West along the north shore of the Forth, over the Kincardine Bridge to a first stop at Stirling. The route then skirts the southern edge of the Queen Elizabeth Forest to Balloch at the southern tip of Loch Lomond for a second coffee stop. Continuing west, the route visits a view point overlooking the Gare Loch and Faslane – home of the nuclear submarines. Then it’s a turn northwards back to Loch Lomond and on to Tyndrum and the famed Green Welly for lunch. The Cullen Skink is highly recommended. Stirling Castle Historic Scotland Tel: 01786 450000 Open Mon. – Sun. 09:30am – 6pm Admission £13/£10 Wallace Monument Tel: 01786 472140 Open Mon – Sun. 10am – 5pm Admission £8.25/£6.75 After lunch, the route heads east and south, continuing to skirt the Trossachs before heading for the hotel. Run B – Loch, Loch and more Lochs ‐ 175 miles Heading northwest, this route passes Knockhill race circuit, Crieff (coffee stop), Loch Earn, Loch Tay and Loch Tummel (to visit the spectacular Queen’s View) and Loch Faskally (it’s there behind the trees – honest) before arriving at Pitlochry for lunch. After lunch the route heads southeast past Scone Palace (pronounced scoon, not like the cake) where the Kings and Queens of Scotland were crowned, and the famous stone taken to London), over the Friaton Bridge (hope you have a head for heights) returning via the northern shore of Loch Leven. Run C – Know your Fife ‐ 120 miles Run around Fife, stopping in St. Andrews, home of golf, for lunch. Fuelling arrangements Please ensure that your bike is fully fuelled before mustering for your run, as stops have not been planned within the routes. All the routes will, however, return by the Sainsbury’s filling station (about 3 miles from the hotel). 12

Safe Riding on Runs Each individual rider is responsible for his own safety and bike on any run. Organisers, Leaders and Tail‐End Charlies cannot be held responsible for safety. Ride within your own limits ‐ it does not matter if other riders pass you, the Tail‐End Charlie is there to make sure that everyone can ride at their own speed. Tail‐End Charlie System All of the led runs will operate under the Tail‐end Charlie system. If you are unsure about this, please pick up a copy of the ‘Guide for Pan Runs’ leaflet. If still in doubt, please ask. Points to watch in a group run. Do not bunch up. Allow other traffic to proceed without having to wait for 20 bikes. You will not get lost (we hope!). If you are a Marker, do NOT give up on the Tail‐End Charlie. It may take a while for the Tail‐
End Charlie to reach you, depending on traffic, weather, length of time between junctions, etc. Many of the Scottish riders have CBs, and hopefully will be able to communicate any problems. When riding on a motorway (we hope there will not be too much of this), if riding behind another bike in the same lane, stagger your line of riding to give yourself more braking time if needed. General Points Although we have many super biking roads in Scotland, remember that speed limits still apply, and there are speed cameras (static and mobile) and unmarked police bikes and cars. Drink‐Driving is not allowed, so remember if you are drinking the night before a run, it takes approximately one hour for each unit of alcohol to disappear from your system. For our foreign visitors, remember that we drive on the left‐hand side of the road. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL – ENJOY YOURSELF! Run C - Know your Fife
