Lay out 5 white print #2 E rectangles and 4 gray print F squares, as shown in Quilt Top Assembly Diagram. Join to complete row 13. Quilting Diagram ©2013 Fons & Porter 1. Lay out vertical rows as shown in Finishing 1. Divide backing into 2 (17⁄8-yard) lengths. Join panels lengthwise. Seam will run horizontally. 2. Layer backing, batting, and quilt top; baste. Quilt as desired. Each vertical row was quilted differently with a variety of designs (Quilting Diagram on page 4). 3. Layer appliqué rectangles and batting as shown in row 4. Referring to photo on page 5, position appliqué and batting rectangles atop row 4. Stitch ½" inside edges of rectangles using matching thread. Add additional quilting as desired. 4. Baste flower appliqués and batting together. Trim batting even with fabric. 5. Referring to photo on page 6, position flower appliqués atop white rectangles in row 13. Baste in place. Quilt as desired. 6. Join 2¼"-wide white print #2 strips into 1 continuous piece for straight-grain French-fold binding. Add binding to quilt.
