3 Getting started
3.1 Launching MIXVIBES
To launch MIXVIBES, go to [Start > All Programs > MixVibes3DEX] and click on MixVibes 3DEX or double-click
on the MIXVIBES 3DEX shortcut on your desktop.
3.2 Customizing the interface
If you want to change the layout to better suit your needs, select [View / Moveable windows] . Return to
the interface view and you will be able to move the windows around the players and rack and place them
thanks to the arrows.
You can also drag and drop windows into each other to create tabbed windows as below. This can save you
space and allow you to have larger windows to list your music tracks.

3 Getting started
If you want to use your internal computer soundcard, choose the Multi Channel mode (if not selected
already).
If you want to use an external souncard of your choice with 2 outputs or an extra USB soundcard, choose
the ASIO mode. In ASIO mode, press the setup button to select audio outputs. Press the control panel button
to access to the soundcard driver control panel. You can also set up the monitoring: this is useful if you do not
use an external mixer allowing monitoring. In the example below, the soundcard audio output 1/2 connects to
your sound system’s MASTER input and output 5/6 is used to connect your headphones. You only have to set
up your players on output 1 and click on the monitoring button to monitor a media in the appropriate player.
Depending on your hardware, a latency time that is set too low can affect media playback. If you experience

sound cuts, progressively
increase06/11/2009
latency until
the problem is solved. If you feel an important delay between
your actions within MIXVIBES and their effect on the sound, reduce it.

5 First Mix with MIXVIBES
1 Load tracks into both players and the waveforms will appear.
2 Start playback of the audio in the players.
3 You should now hear the music in your speakers: You can start mixing.
4 To go from one track to another, move the crossfader from left to right, or use the channels faders on
your controller.
5 To pre-listen to tracks (with a 2-outputs ASIO soundcard or an extra soundcard not provided), push the
monitor button of your controller (the monitor output needs to be configured in the audio preferences).
6 The two audio tracks are most likely not at the same tempo. You need to match the tempo of both
tracks, and synchronize one player with the other by:
•
adjusting the pitch via the pitch fader on your decks and adjusting the playback position to
match the downbeat of the other player via the pitchbend buttons (or the jogwheel if the
Scratch mode is disable).
•
using the Automix buttons to automatically perform those two tasks.
