LETTER FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Friends,
Words cannot convey the emotions I felt being with you last week for the Feast of Pentecost. Seeing you and
being with you was overwhelming to say the least. I was overjoyed that God graced me with the strength to celebrate all
the Masses. I only regret that I had to return to Minnesota Sunday afternoon and was not able to celebrate the evening
Mass at 5:30. The joy I felt being at St. Stanislaus Kostka last weekend continued even in my return to Minnesota.
Half way into the trip Oscar Delgado, the three Sisters, and I stopped to eat at a little Mexican restaurant in
Wisconsin Dells. By God’s providence the name of the restaurant was San Antonio and our table was decorated with
Happy Birthday balloons secured in a vase of seven red tulips. Being the Feast of Pentecost and therefore the birthday
of the Church we all felt our good God and our friend St. Anthony were smiling on us. Of course the seven tulips
represented the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. Their color red is the liturgical color for the Feast of Pentecost.
The personnel of the restaurant were people of sincere religious faith and were happy to see us. Though they
didn’t know us they were very much inspired seeing religious sisters dressed as nuns and a priest wearing the Roman
collar. They surprised us after the meal by refusing to take our payment for the meal, but they did ask for two favors.
One was good. The other a little challenge for me. First, they asked that I bless them and that I bless their rosaries.
Secondly, they asked that we pose with them for a photo. Many of you know how I despise having my picture taken.
I’m rather vain. I’m always disappointed by photos taken of me. I expect to look better than I do in photos, so at all cost
I try to avoid having my picture taken. You’ll appreciate the dilemma I was in. Having had our meal paid for I felt
trapped. Even so, I humbled myself and posed for the picture. But I didn’t smile.
I’m happy some of you were able to see and meet the Sisters. They were present at a few of the Masses. They
have been very good to me and have cared for me as a mother cares for a child. God knew that only someone like
myself would need three mothers during this time of recovery from major surgery and now during the chemotherapy. My
mother thought I was a “hand full”. Now I know what she meant. That Oscar is here in Rochester is a curious thing too.
For those of you who may not know Oscar, he worked with us in the parish during the first decade of the Third
Millennium as the call of the Blessed Virgin Mary was unfolding. He also oversaw the building of the radio studio,
“Winds of Change.” During this time, Oscar was with me in a spiritual retreat on the Greek island of Patmos where St.
John the Apostle was imprisoned and wrote the Book of Revelation – the last book of the Bible. It was there that I
suffered an accident that resulted in my forehead split wide open, the loss of so much blood that my body went into
shock, and a three hour emergency boat ride to a hospital for medical care. Oscar carried me through that apocalyptic
ordeal and by the providence of God, these days he lives 15 minutes from the Mayo Clinic here in Rochester, and has
carried me through this one.
Oscar was at the hospital on Good Friday when I underwent surgery. Since then he has been alongside me in
spite of me. At some point soon after leaving the hospital I really scolded him for being overly protective. I apologized
for my outburst, but believe me, he really was fastidious in his need to protect me. Thank God he took well to the
reprimand otherwise I would have been completely abandoned save for the Sisters.
Seriously though, as I mentioned at last week’s Masses I am humbled and overwhelmed by the support I have
received here in Rochester and the support you’ve been to me there in Chicago. Last week I really didn’t think I’d have
the strength to celebrate all the Masses, but the Spirit of God saw it otherwise. It was indeed the Spirit of God in all of
you that animated my energy. For this I thank God and I thank you for being receptive to the inner working of God’s
Spirit in your lives.
I left St. Stanislaus Kostka last Sunday with joy, knowing that I will return to you very soon. The next six months
will be a challenge as I continue with the chemotherapy, but as I said last week, the best medicine is to be home and
with the people you love. I’m blessed knowing we will share this journey together. God seems to have ordained it so,
and trust me, I can’t wait to be home.

CARTA DEL PÁRROCO
Estimados Amigos,
No tengo palabras para expresarles la emoción que sentí al estar con ustedes la semana pasada en la
Solemnidad de Pentecostés. Me quedo corto al decir que el haberlos visto y haber estado con ustedes fue muy
emotivo. Estaba lleno de júbilo porque Dios me dio la gracia y la fuerza para poder celebrar todas las Misas. Me dio
pesar el tener que volver a Minnesota el domingo por la tarde y no poder celebrar la Misa de las 5:30 de la tarde. El
júbilo que sentí al estar en San Estanislao Kostka la semana pasada continuó aún hasta mi regreso a Minnesota.
A la mitad de nuestro viaje Oscar Delgado, las tres Hermanas y yo paramos a comer en un pequeño
restaurante Mexicano en Wisconsin Dells. Por la providencia de Dios el nombre del restaurante era San Antonio y
nuestra mesa estaba decorada con globos de cumpleaños amarrados a un florero con siete tulipanes rojos. Por haber
sido la Solemnidad de Pentecostés y por lo tanto el cumpleaños de la Iglesia todos sentimos que nuestro buen Dios y
nuestro amigo San Antonio nos estaban sonriendo. Por supuesto que los siete tulipanes representaban los siete dones
del Espíritu Santo. El color rojo es el color litúrgico de la Solemnidad de Pentecostés.
El personal del restaurante era gente de una sincera fe religiosa y estaban contentos de vernos. Aunque no
nos conocían fueron inspirados al ver las hermanas vestidas como religiosas y un sacerdote usando el cuello Romano.
Después de la cena nos dieron la sorpresa al no permitirnos pagar por la cena, pero pidieron dos favores. Uno fue
bueno. El otro fue desafiante para mí. Primero, pidieron que los bendijera y que les bendijera sus rosarios. Segundo,
nos pidieron que nos tomáramos una foto con ellos. Muchos de ustedes saben cuanto desprecio que me tomen fotos.
Soy muy vanidoso. Siempre me decepciono de las fotos que me toman. Espero verme mejor de lo que salgo en las
fotos, y por lo tanto trato de evadir a toda costa que me tomen fotos. Apreciarán el dilema en el que me encontraba.
Después de que nuestra cuenta fue pagada me sentía atrapado. Aún así me sometí y posé para la foto. Pero no
sonreí.
Me dio gusto que algunos de ustedes pudieron conocer a las Hermanas. Estuvieron presentes en algunas de
las Misas. Ellas han sido muy buenas conmigo y me han cuidado como una madre cuida de su creatura. Sólo Dios
sabe que alguien como yo necesitaría a tres madres durante este tiempo de recuperación de una cirugía fuerte y ahora
durante la quimioterapia. Mi madre siempre pensó que yo era demasiado trabajo para ella. Ahora sé a lo que se
refería. El que Oscar esté aquí en Rochester es también algo curioso.
Para aquellos de ustedes que no conocen a Oscar, él trabajó con nosotros en la parroquia durante la primera
década del Tercer Milenio mientras se desarrollaba el llamado de la Santísima Virgen María. Él también estuvo a cargo
de la construcción del estudio de radio, “Vientos de Cambio.” Durante este tiempo, Oscar estuvo conmigo en un retiro
espiritual en la Isla de Patmos en Grecia donde el Apóstol San Juan fue encarcelado y allí es donde escribió el Libro de
Revelación – el último libro de la Biblia. Fue allí que sufrí un accidente que resultó en la ruptura grande de mi frente, en
la pérdida de mucha sangre por lo cual mi cuerpo entró en un estado de shock, y luego un viaje de emergencia de tres
horas en un barco hacia un hospital para recibir atención médica. Oscar me encaminó por la prueba apocalíptica y por
la providencia de Dios, en estos días él vive a 15 minutos de la Clínica Mayo aquí en Rochester, y por lo tanto me ha
encaminado por esta prueba.
Oscar estuvo en el hospital en Viernes Santo cuando fui operado. Desde entonces él ha estado a mi lado a
pesar de mí. Después de que dejé el hospital lo regañé por sobreprotegerme. Le pedí disculpas por mi impulso, pero
créanme, él realmente era necio en su necesidad de sobreprotegerme. Gracias a Dios que tomó mi regaño por el lado
amable, por lo contrario hubiera estado completamente abandonado sin contar a las Hermanas.
Ahora en serio, como mencioné en las Misas de la semana pasada estoy conmovido y sorprendido por todo el
apoyo que he recibido aquí en Rochester y el apoyo que ustedes han sido para mí allá en Chicago. Realmente no
pensé que la semana pasada iba a tener la fuerza para poder celebrar todas las Misas, pero el Espíritu de Dios lo hizo
posible. Verdaderamente fue el Espíritu de Dios en todos ustedes que me dio la energía. Por ello le doy gracias a Dios
y les doy las gracias a ustedes por permitirle al Espíritu de Dios a que obre en sus vidas.
El domingo pasado dejé a San Estanislao Kostka con júbilo, sabiendo que muy pronto estaré de regreso con
ustedes. Los próximos seis meses serán un desafío mientras que continúo con la quimioterapia, pero como dije la
semana pasada, la mejor medicina es estar en casa con la gente que uno quiere. Estoy bendecido sabiendo que juntos
compartiremos esta jornada. Dios lo quiere así, y créanme, no puedo esperar para estar de nuevo en casa.

The 5th annual Taste of St. Stan’s Carnival, to be held on June 9-12, is quickly
approaching. It is the largest fundraiser for the school and the net profits go to
support our scholarship fund. Did you know that each year we give out over $250,000
in scholarships to our school families? You can see how vital this fundraiser is in
supporting our efforts to accept families of various financial backgrounds.

CONTEMPLATIVES IN ACTION at
ST. STANISLAUS KOSTKA PARISH
THE SANCTUARY OF DIVINE MERCY
First Friday Evenings before Mass from 6 pm to 7 pm
God speaks to us every day. You can hear Him if you listen.
Contemplatives in Action is a group of men and women who are
seeking to find “God in all things”. Through the Examen Prayer of St.
Ignatius Loyola we see how the Lord is working in our lives in the
moments of each day.
We contemplate the word of God. "Contemplation" is the word St.
Ignatius used to describe the type of prayer he recommends in that
part of the Spiritual Exercises where he shows us how to grow in
intimacy with our Lord. After listening to the Gospel, we have a
conversation about how the Lord is speaking to us and inviting us to
respond through our actions.

meant to engage in fellowship which concern spirituality,
prayer and men’s topics concerning individual and or
worldly topics. And remember our meetings are held

El libro de intenciones para el 2016 está abierto. La
donación para una Misa entre semana es de $10 y
en domingo es $20.
Nuevos Feligreses son Bienvenidos
Si le gustaría ser feligrés de la Parroquia de San
Estanislao Kostka puede tomar un sobre que se
encuentra sobre la mesa en la parte de atrás de la
iglesia. Favor de llenarlo y colocarlo en la canasta
de la colecta dominical junto con su ofrenda.

24-godzinna adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu
odbywa się w kościele (poza czasem gdy są
odprawiane Msze Św.). Zwracamy się o pomoc i
kontynuować 24-godzinną adorację. Zachęcamy do
podjęcia zobowiązania, wybrania jednej godziny
albo też takiej ilości czasu jaką możecie i zapisania
się na adorację. Formularze znajdują się z tyłu
kościoła.
