FUNDED BY THE CFLP SOLID WASTE DISTRICT
Who We Are…
Directory
Licking County Recycling
(LCR) is a government agency
responsible for promoting and
encouraging recycling to the
150,000+ Licking County residents,
businesses, and industries.
We are financially supported
by the CFLP Solid Waste District
(Coshocton, Fairfield, Licking, and
Perry counties) and the Licking
County Commissioners. Funding
from CFLP comes from the “tipping
fees” at landfills that is then
distributed to the different solid waste
districts to encourage recycling.

In addition to regular funding provided by these two groups, we
frequently apply for and receive several grants from the Ohio EPA for
specific activities such as waste tire collection and recycling, litter
collection, and educational activities.
LCR is responsible to maintaining and monitoring more than 100
drop-off bins at 28 different locations around the county.

But What About … ?
Common Household Hazardous Waste
Gasoline (old) strain through a paper filter and dilute with fresh gasoline by one half. Check your owners manual to see if it can be used in
your lawnmower.
Latex and oil paint can be disposed of in three ways:
1. Small amounts: spread it on cardboard or newspaper. Discard in
regular trash, with lid off, once dry.
2. Half a can or less: add equal amounts of absorbent material such as
kitty litter or Paint Hardener. Discard in regular trash, with lid off,
once dry.
3. Full/nearly full cans: can usually be donated to local churches,
housing programs, or school art, local theater or drama departments.

What Are Other Ways To Recycle
Composting
Three easy ways to compost:
1. Leave your grass clippings on your yard
after mowing.
2. Recycle your kitchen waste (do not use
meat or dairy products), newspapers,
sawdust and yard waste. Put the material
in a bin with enough soil to cover. You
must keep the waste moist and turn
occasionally. Use the compost on your
garden, around your trees and shrubs for
better plant growth.
Visit these sites to learn more:
ohioline.ag.ohio-state.edu and
www.howtocompost.org
3. You can take your yard waste to local
composting businesses:
Elm Recycling, Hope Timber or The
Compost Farm.
Licking County Recycling containers now accept paper.
Green Products
Abitibi-Bowater has Paper Retriever containers at most local schools
and churches. Check www.paperretriever.com for locations. They DO
NOT take phone books, cardboard, foil wrapping paper, or tissue paper.
Green products are becoming more prominent
in our local stores. They can include clothing,
gift wrapping, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and
much more...
What is a “Green” product?
1. demonstrates an efficient use of material; if the
product is reusable, recyclable, or compostable;
how much of the products is made from postconsumer recycled content or from biobased and
sustainable sourced products.
2. how it was made by focusing on energy and
water conservation or low-impact operations
that avoid hazardous materials and promotion
of low-emitting and sustainable practices.
