Section Guide
Bucheon Choice
BiFan’s official competition-showcases 12 feature films
and 12 shorts, presenting the audience with genre
films full of sharp sensibility, talent and energy. If you
enjoy the experimental and bold nature that defines
these genre film directors, the films at Bucheon Choice
are not to be missed.
It is BiFan's most representative section where the
audience can appreciate the world's latest, handpicked
genre films ranging from horror, science fiction, or to
thriller, action and fantasy. If you feel already excited with
the anticipation of watching diverse genre films from
different countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas, you
should first secure your seat for this section.
Vision Express
BiFan Discoveries
This is a special section for those interested in
watching newer and varied films. These films blur the
boundary between genre film and art film and display
a cinematic imagination and sense of experimentation
that strives to provide new visions for the audience.
This section is a new addition to the 19th BiFan film
festival, introducing works discovered and supported by
BiFan. These films were completed through the It Project,
which supports Asian genre films of rich and unique
imagination, and are being shown for the first time in
Korea at BiFan Discoveries.
The Masters
Forbidden Zone
This is BiFan’s Hall of Fame, where the audience can
find new films of masters in genre film and world
cinema. Join us at The Masters section to witness
the deep passion and craftsmanship of these virtuoso
directors.
Extreme films for the BiFan aficionados who love genre
films; these films challenge the limitations of cinematic
imagination and expression, and will go beyond your
common sense or stereotype, defending freedom of
expression. Do not dare join if you do not have the nerves.
Ani Fanta
This section highlights fun and artistic achievements
in animation. With their everyday fantasy, unbridled
imagination and provocative imagery, this BiFan
selection of animations will be the right choice if you
are seeking those elusive emotive moments not easily
found in live action films.
Short films present thrilling charm that cannot be captured
in feature films. Fantastic Short Films showcases a
selection of short masterpieces that will excite the
audience with their bold imagination, and short yet strong
resonance. Let's discover the treasures of new directors
who will lead the future of genre cinema.
Special Program
BiFan Classic
The goal of this program is to present the unique
characteristics that define each year’s BiFan festival. By
introducing new themes, genre trends, and noteworthy
issues, the Special Program screens important films and
holds in-depth talks with directors and movie experts,
thereby adding depth to the festival.
It reintroduces the classics of genre cinema to the
audience. No one can deny the charm of classic films that
create sensation and infinite inspiration that never fades
away with time. It is a rare opportunity for you to watch
precious, classic films as they are not often screened in
theaters.

※ Mobile tickets displayed on the festival’s mobile website(m.bifan.kr) only can be used. No screenshots or sms accepted.
※ If you have a ticket issued at a ticket booth, your mobile ticket is no longer valid.

* Food cannot be brought into Multiplex theaters except food from snack bar.
* All Food except for the mineral water with the lid is not permitted without water
inside Bucheon City Hall and Korean Manhwa Museum.
• Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited during screenings.
• Please turn off your cell phone.
• Ticket holders will be admitted to screening in accordance with the film rating.
* Preschool child under 7 years old can only attend the screening of G rate.
* Nobody under the given age can attend the screening, even if you are supervised by an adult.

BiFan takes place between 5 main theaters in central Bucheon City and it may take longer time to get to multiplex theaters than you may expect. Here’s
the tips: Don’t get confused with CGV Bucheon and CGV Sopoong. CGV Sopoong is located in Newcore Outlet, 6th floor and CGV Bucheon is on the 5th
floor of UPLEX Mall, which is a building right across from Hyundai Department Store. If you are heading to Lotte Cinema, keep in mind that Lotte Cinema
is not inside the Lotte Department Store, but in a different building along the main road(5-minute walk from the Lotte Deptment Store). Last but not least
give yourself time for travel.

Moonwalkers is his feature debut film.
Director Kim Hui, as a famous screenplay writer of Tidal Wave(2009), Midnight FM(2010) and Sector 7(2011), he made debut with
his film as a director of The Neighbors(2012). He also directed the film Horror Stories 2(2013) which was screened at Bucheon

Two interns are working at the office at night.
Suddenly, one of the interns hears a strange
sound that comes from the upstairs. However,
the other intern at the same office doesn’t hear
anything at all. Realizing he is the only one
hearing the sound, he is even more scared
when the other intern starts recounting a
bizarre story that occurred last night.
Young Anja accompanies the dead of her
hometown to the afterlife-comforting the
panic-stricken newly-deceased with a sweet
smile and some of her favorite music. But
most eagerly Anja is waiting for the day when
her brother passes away and they can finally
meet again.
In a disused chapel, one man is being
tortured in strange circumstances. The victim
is all tied up, he can’t even budge. And then
the torturer starts to beat him with his bare
hands. Why is the victim being tortured
constantly?
One day, a spirit intrudes upon the life
of an average housewife. Despite the
hallucinations, voices, and bad omens,
she refuses to be possessed by the spirit

some guy is watching them secretly, aiming a
shotgun at them. The guy fires the gun, but is

Sho Aikawa plays the main character.
Dawei is planning to romantically propose
to Xiaoqi during their holiday road trip to
Malaysia. In the middle of their trip, they give
a ride to Mi-Yeon, a lone Korean hitchhiker
girl. This sows discord and rift between
them. And there are sudden gruesome
murders that trail behind their journey, with
all suspicions pointing to Mi-Yeon.

In the dense forests of the American West,
where confrontation with a stranger would
normally mean a duel to the death, Silas,
instead of killing Jay, the guileless adolescent,
offers to protect him in exchange for
cash. Silas’ true motivation, however, is as
mysterious as Jay’s is true-hearted.
A 14-year old boy fell from the top of a school
building. The police announce the boy’s
death as suicide. An anonymous note is then
discovered. The note claims that the boy
was killed by three troubled students at the
school. A broadcast reporter gets the note.
The situation then becomes uncontrollable.

In 2001 Tokyo, 54 schoolgirls commit mass
suicide by throwing themselves in front of an
oncoming train. Mass suicide cases spread
all over Tokyo. Police start to investigate the
cases and the detective Kuroda gets a phone
call from a little child telling him when and
where the next mass suicide will occur.
Noriko lives with her family. To escape from
her unhappy relationship with her parents,
Noriko runs away from home. In Tokyo she
meets Kumiko, her BBS friend, who runs a
‘family circle program’, where she takes in
daughters who are unhappy with their lives
and gives them new personalities. But the
circle grows darker after the mass suicide of
54 high school girls.
“This film is a compilation of my soul” said the
director Sono Sion. Love & Peace serves up the
perfect harmony of eccentric characters embedded
in a well-written scenario. Suzuki once dreamed
of being a rocker but is now a regular salary man.
He meets a turtle. He names the turtle and adores
it but throws it in a sewer because his co-workers
laugh at him. The turtle meets an old man who lives
underground and things take an unelected twist.
No Men in sight, only women… and
something unthinkable is that girls kill girls! A
bus full of high school girls are on their way
to a school trip. A sudden gust of wind slices
the bus in half, length-wise killing 40 girls
in the blink of an eye, except Mitsuko our

with life. The wife becomes suspicious about her
husband’s behavior when she gets a mysterious
phone call from a woman. The woman introduces
herself as a Korean-American FBI special agent and
claims her husband is an alien. The Housemaid and

Since his debut, Simon YAM has appeared in over 200 films and TV drama series. He has appeared in many films as a policeman, while also taking
on the role of different villains, including the boss of a Triad gang and a heartless killer. He has worked on many films regardless of genres and
characters, and if you ask people who worked with him on the set, they’d all respond that “he is a nice person and an excellent actor”. At this year’s
BiFan, he personally chose 5 films for his own retrospective and one of his latest films for the audience. This retrospective is not simply to look back

from CID is in charge of investigating Ponytail’s
death. Lo’s suspicious behavior make him a likely
suspect on Cheung’s list.
The film begins with the election of a new
chairman of a Triad gang. Lok and D are two
very different candidates. Big D attempts
to buy the election, but Lok is chosen as
chairman. Dismayed by the result, Big D
attempts revenge until he is promised the
next chairmanship. Big D and Lok eventually
join forces, but Lok eventually gets rid of Big D,
