Greetings:
If you’re reading this, then you can
see that your American Legion Memorial Post #614 in Hilliard, Ohio is alive
and well.
The past couple of years have presented
us with many challenges and yet we are
still active and still a vital part of the
Hilliard community.
As a Post, we are still having our
monthly dinners at the Senior Center
the 3rd Friday of each month from 5pm7pm, we are still meeting at the Public
Safety building on Northwest Parkway
the 1st Thursday of each month starting
at 7pm, and we are still very active in
community events.
Our Post membership has actually
grown over previous year as new mem-
bers begin to see the American Legion
change direction and begin to focus on
all veterans, including the OIF/OEF veterans, and also focusing on our female
veterans.
What we need now, more than ever,
is your participation. There is a relatively small percentage of Post members who attend meetings, attend events,
and participate with Post functions. We
want your input and we need your help.
This is your American Legion Post.
We are here to continue serving the veterans of our community and to continue
serve our great local community.
There are many events coming up and
we look forward to seeing you at some
of those evens.
May the good Lord bless you all.
FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

us with this program and other programs
and have truly been a blessing to our
organization.
We have been going to Chillicothe
VA Hospital the 1st Sunday of every
month and take snacks down to them.
We also take snacks to Chalmers P.
Wiley VA clinic for the spinal injury
ward. At Christmas, we went to Harmon Avenue homeless shelter for their
party. We took 58 bags full of soap,
toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo,
shirts, underwear, undershirts, and socks
for the homeless veterans there. We also
provided scarves (which one of our
members made) at Christmas for the
ward we help. We have participated in a
lot of the city functions like; Old Hilliard Days, 911 Ceremony, 4th of July
Parade, and much more. As you can see
we are striving to keep our Unit moving
forward and thriving for our future, but
we still need your help so if you
would like to help and volunteer please
let us know as we would love to have
you.
We meet at the Safety Building at the
fairgrounds the 2nd Thursday of every
month at 6:30pm and would love to see
more of our members attend, so we can
all keep each other informed on the progress of our Unit and Post.
In closing please keep the faith that
we are still active and trying hard to
keep our Post, Auxiliary, and SAL a vital part of our community, and for our
Veterans to get the assistance they so
desperately need. Thank you again for
all of your hard work and help to keep
us moving forward. God Bless.
Dear Auxiliary Members,
Can you believe we are already half
way through our Auxiliary year. It has
been a very busy one with our ladies
taking good care of our Veterans and
working hard for our programs. I would
like to extend my sincere thanks to all of
you for all your support and contributions to make this happen. We have
proven that we don't need a home post
building to keep working our programs
and showing our community we are still
active.
We are still having our community
dinners at the Senior Center, so if you
are able to attend, help serve, or even
help to supply desserts for the dinners,
please let us know. We appreciate any
and all help as it has been a small group
helping out. It would be great to have
new members in the mix and to get back
to the family comradeship we had in
past years.
Poppy mailings will be coming out
soon, so keep an eye out for those envelopes for donations. One hundred percent of the donations is used for our
Veterans in the VA hospitals, homeless
Veterans, and active military that
need assistance. Any and all contributions are truly appreciated. The poppies
we purchase are made by Veterans at
Ohio Veterans Home (OVH) in
Sandusky, OH. We want to keep supporting this program with the purchase
of as may poppies as we are able to purchase. We will be handing poppies out
again at Texas Roadhouse on Hilliard
Rome Road in May for Memorial Day.

From Squadron Commander Hello all, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New
Years. 2015 was an interesting year for the SAL at Post #614. We
met our quota for memberships, which is great! However, we need
more active participation from our whole post. We need this participation to make the SAL strong for the post. We did have a successful car show back in July. We made improvements and had an
active participation from the American Legion Auxiliary and it was
extremely appreciated. The changes made to this car show helped
make the show smooth and successful. Lets make 2016 an even
stronger year, and we can only make it successful with support
from more members! Thanks all, for all you do.
