As we begin to celebrate this holiday season, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thanks to FWCSC board for all the hard work and dedication that has made this a great year. Thanks to you, our membership, for all your support and thanks to all our wonderful friends and neighbors that make Ft Leonard Wood a wonderful place to live. Finally, let's not forget those Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines that so selflessly protect us everyday!! God Bless you all and have a wonderful holiday season. Vanedra Smith, Honorary President President’s Pen Greetings, Happy December! This is truly one of my favorite times of the year. An atmosphere of joy seems to fill the air, and people tend to be kinder to each other and more giving to those in need. During this time, we often choose not to dwell on the past, as we instead look forward with anticipation to the upcoming holidays and the new year. Personally, I am very excited about all of the wonderful things which will happen over this holiday season and in 2015. As the year starts to come to a close, I want thank each of you for your continuous friendship and support for the FWCSC. Just a few weeks ago, we hosted our Holiday Craft and Antique Fair, and it was a huge success! A big thank you goes out to Ron Jones, Janet Johnson, and all of the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this event successful. Also, I want to thank everyone who attended. Your support is always greatly appreciated. December is a busy month and we have numerous fun and interesting activities planned for our members. If you haven’t already attended any of our sub-clubs, you are really missing out. I hope you will check out the activities schedule and plan on attending some of these fun filled events. I am sure you will have a great time! Also, don’t forget to make your reservations and join us for our Festival of Trees Luncheon on December 11, at the USO. I wish each of you and your families a happy holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you soon! Best wishes, Patricia Notes from our Vice Presidents Greetings Members, Greetings FWCSC, Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Kodos to Ron Jones, his committee, and the great support from everyone on a successful Craft Fair! Christmas is right around the corner and I hope you’re getting into the spirit of the season. Looking forward to seeing some new faces at our December Luncheon, Festival of Trees. Please reach out to new arrivals to the area and tell them about this event. Remember, all Spouses are invited to join our club and anyone is welcome to attend one luncheon before becoming a member. If you know of someone that is on the fence of joining, pass on that starting in January 2015, our membership fee will be reduced to $10.00. I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday engaging in old traditions and spending time with loved ones. Many of us are hundreds of miles away from “home” this holiday season, but I want to remind everyone that “home” is where the heart is! Get out and meet new people, invite someone in to share in your traditions…you might just be surprised at how much joy there can be in creating new ones! This is an exciting time of year…some are making their lists and checking them twice. Others are teetering between naughty and nice…which one are you? Nevertheless, may all your dreams and wishes come through. Also, please do not forget that our Festival of Trees luncheon will be Thursday December 11th at the Fort Leonard Wood USO. Doors open at 11. This will be an opportunity to fellowship with other spouses and members of the Fort Leonard Wood Community and get a fully decorated tree for your home or to give away as the PERFECT gift. All are welcome, invite friends, you don’t want to miss this! Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday! Have a Blessed Christmas & Prosperous New Year! Get to Know your Board Members Carmen Osburn—Postscripts Editor Q: Why did you decide to become the editor of Postscripts? A: I was very creative as a young adult and in recent years, life seemed to get in the way of that. I thought that being a part of Postscripts would be a chance for me to uncover that part of myself. Q: How has the FWCSC helped you as a military spouse? A: I’m one of those outgoing introverts. I like being social, but my initial shyness often holds me back. Making commitments to FWCSC activities is slowly but surely helping me to overcome that while allowing me to make the most of my time here at FLW. Q:What is something most people don't know about you? A: Hula hooping is somewhat of hobby of mine. I once hula hooped for over 30 minutes without dropping the hoop. 2015 Fort Wood Community Spouses’ Club Spouse / Dependent Education Scholarship Applications are now available!
