Schedules can be found on Maxpreps.com David Luiz Moreira Marinho (born 22 April 1987), known as David Luiz, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for French club Paris SaintGermain and serves as vice-captain for the Brazil national team. Primarily a central defender, he can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder. After starting out at Vitória, he moved to Benfica at the age of 19, remaining with the club five seasons (three complete). He joined Chelsea in January 2011, winning the Champions League and the FA Cup in the following season. In June 2014 he transferred from Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of £50 million (€62 million), a world record transfer for a defender. However, it was on the 2009–10 season, when new manager Jorge Jesus arrived to Benfica, that David Luiz be- came a club symbol and vice-captain. He was everpresent, appearing in 49 official matches (three goals, 4,206 minutes), as Benfica won the league after a five-year wait. On 30 September 2009, Benfica sold 25% of David Luiz's economic rights on any future transfer to a third-party owner, Benfica Stars Fund, along with other teammates. He was tagged at €18 million, with the fund paying €4.5 million; his contract was also renewed in October, with a release clause of €50 million. Chelsea On 30 January 2011, David Luiz completed a move to Chelsea for a fee of €25 million, a five-and-a-half-year contract, with Nemanja Matić joining Benfica at the end of the season after his transfer spell away at Vitesse in the Netherlands. He made his official Premier League debut on 6 February, replacing José Bosingwa in a 1–0 home loss against Liverpool. Eight days later, he made his first start for Chelsea, in a 0–0 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Indian Springs High School (ISHS) With the end of the competitive winter season coming to a close ISHS is proud of all of their athletes for competing at a high level all season. Their wrestling team finished second in league as well as crowned ISHS Wrestling Team. Along with the three champions they had five runner ups in their weight classes, they all are competing at CIF Championship Finals on February 20-21 at Grand Terrace High School and have the opportunity to compete for a chance to go to the CIF Masters Event at Citizens Business Bank Arena. The construction of their new athletic complex has begun and the scheduled completion date for their stadium is August 15, whereas their pool complex will have a tentative completion date of November 17, 2015. ISHS students and staff are very excited to have the new additions to the campus. Over the Holiday Break they had their logos and alma mater added to the interior of the gym to give it a spirited ISHS logo added to the gym touch. The addition of the logos and alma mater have given their athletes, coaches, students, and staff added pride! This Spring they are competing in Track and Field, Boys Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, and Boys Tennis. Their Softball Team and Boys Volleyball Teams are looking to have successful years and get back into the playoffs for consecutive years. Their track, baseball, and tennis teams look to be formidable as well. Go Coyotes! Pacific High School (PHS) PHS Wrestling Team With the Winter sports’ season winding down, the Pirates have much to celebrate! Our wrestling team, coached by Bob Vargas, did outstanding this year and currently they have 8 wrestlers competing at CIF! Seniors Andre Bishop, Jeremy Brooks, Erick Jimenez, Edgar Salazar and Tristan Todd all won league championships and freshmen Raziel Jordan and Arturo Leon were named Varsity coach Teresa Gonzalez, draws up a play with her girls during a game with Bloomington. Heavyweight Jeremy Brooks was voted by the league coaches as the Mountain Valley League MVP! In soccer, both the boys’ and the girls’ improved during the season and on the girl’s team, coached by Jenny Paige, goalkeeper Karla Ramirez was voted league MVP! The boys, coached by Hugo Quintanilla, picked up two first team allleague players in senior Javin Singer and freshman Edwin Leon. Basketball also fared well in the Mountain Valley all-league voting with senior Anthony Ford and sophomore Tyrese Collins winning first team honors for the boy’s team. The boys are coached by Ray Gonzalez, while on the girls’ side, seniors Jalesha Love and sophomore Imani Vallier both walked away with first team patches. The girl’s basketball team is coached by Teresa Gonzalez. San Bernardino High School (SBHS) They went undefeated in league play. Andrea Contreras a junior on the team SBHS Boys Wrestling The wrestling team won the Mountain Valley League Championship. It was the first league title for the wrestling team in over 30 years. SBHS Boys Basketball qualified for the girls state championships February 27 and 28. The boys team currently has the longest active league winning streak at 36 straight league wins in the Inland Empire. Spartans’ Boys Soccer team put together 7 straight league games without a loss (4-0-3) to vault to the SAL #2 seed for the CIF Playoffs after being in fifth place with two weeks left in the season. A dramatic 2-0 victory over Rialto on the final day of the season knocked the CIF #3 SGHS girls soccer team after clinchranked Knights out of first place and ing the SAL title guaranteed a CIF Playoff berth for San Andreas League titles. The league consists of ten schools from neighboring cities such as Moreno Valley, soccer season starts the first week of April and there is a lot of interest in this particular sport. Announcements along with fliers that are placed around campus are made for students; reminding them of the requirements to participate in sports at Sierra High. The requirements are good attendance, no current SHS Girls Softball Practice Sierra High School has won many championship trophies, which are proudly displayed in their office and Physical Education room. They are currently in volleyball season and their girls’ team has 5 wins and 1 loss while their boys’ SHS Boys Softball SHS Girls Softball “You're never a loser until you quit trying.” Mike Ditka Former American football player, coach, and television commentator. During this 20142015 school year their boys’ softball team made it to the championship game while their girl’s team qualified for the playoffs. In previous years SHS Girls Softball team has 2 wins and 3 losses. Their end of the year volleyball tournament is scheduled for December 12 and the basketball season starts in January.
