For over 45 years, we’ve been providing lasting memories in an environment that’s both educational and fun. GSWRC Summer Day Camps can be an extension of the activities done within the context of the Girl Scout year or provide campers with their initial taste of the countless benefits of Girl Scouting as they wind their way through the summer. In 2007, the council will offer camps in two locations -- old favorite Elizabeth and newcomer Scotch Plains. Campers will take part in a plethora of experiences whether they come for a week or spend the full four weeks. Among the exciting aspects campers for nearly five decades have come to expect at GSWRC Summer Day Camps are: Creative arts and crafts Outdoor sports activities Guest speakers that will share their expertise Field trips to open the door to new experiences Science and environmental programs Time to bond with fellow campers And much more Girl Scout Summer Day Camp helps girls learn and develop cooperation, team work and selfconfidence while having fun. The cost of camp includes daily snacks, program supplies, program consultants and day trips. Breakfast and lunch are provided at the Elizabeth location. More information will be provided at the time of registration. Introducing Our New Site This summer, GSWRC is pleased to offer four weeks of Day Camp at the Jerseyland Community Center in Scotch Plains. Conveniently located and easily accessible from Route 22, the Community Center has a number of amenities and features that are sure to provide an optimal Day Camp experience. The Community Center is situated on Jerusalem Road adjacent to Scotch Hills Country Club. It is equipped with a large outdoor covered program shelter as well as state-ofthe-art playground equipment and a modern building perfect for a brief escape from the sun or when rain falls from the sky. In addition, the Community Center is a site rich in history and tradition and is committed to partnering with GSWRC to provide yet another exciting and viable option for Day Camp. Girl Scout Summer Day Camp Details Safe and Secure Girl Scouts of Washington Rock Council (GSWRC) is committed to ensuring the health, safety, security and overall well being of its campers. All GSWRC Summer Day Camps meet the highest standards of quality and safety demanded by Girl Scouts of the United States of America and comply with New Jersey Camp Safety Standards. Proper girl/adult ratios are maintained and a first aider is on duty at all times in each camp. For over 45 years we have been providing camp programs that girls come back for year after year. Camp Fee: The camp fee is $125 per sessions. This fee does not fully support the Day Camp cost. Funding from the United Way, other agencies and GSWRC’s operation fund enables the camp fees to remain low. Financial Assistance: The Girl Scouts of Washington Rock Council provides Financial Assistance to families needing financial help to send their daughters to Day Camp. Individuals requesting Financial Aid must request and complete a Financial Aid Application. Further information on this is located on the Day Camp Registration Form. There will be no refunds or deductions of fees for campers not attending the full camp session.
