Dear Friends,
In 2014, we did great things together. Last year, Lutheran Services Carolinas served just over 5,000 people. Among those 5,000 were
people of markedly different ages, ethnicities, and circumstances. From infants to elders, from the prosperous to the poor – all looked
to LSC for help.
And 5,000 is just the beginning of the story. That figure does not include the hundreds of families, caregivers, neighbors, and friends
who rested more easily knowing that loved ones were safer, healthier, or happier because of LSC care or services.
Providing that care and those services were about 1,670 employees whose good work was made even better because of the prayers,
talents, and support of donors, volunteers, advocates, and others – all working together for good.
Last year, 1,326 volunteers contributed 37,702 hours of volunteer services. Over the last five years, more than 8,000 unique donors
have made gifts to LSC, with 2,000 employees among them. Nearly 1,550 advocates now receive emails enlisting their support for
legislative issues important to LSC.
Now, imagine if each one of those donors, advocates, or volunteers invited just one person to join them. We did, and that’s why we
launched LSC’s Connect-4-Good program. Connect-4-Good encourages those who already support the LSC mission to recruit new
volunteers, donors, and advocates. When people “Connect-4-Good” they become part of a growing team of supporters who help
improve the lives of hundreds of people every day.
Teams can accomplish amazing things. They generate the ideas, energy, and passion needed for
success. But every team needs new members to keep that momentum flowing. Won’t you help us
build our team?
If you are already an LSC supporter, invite others to join you. Take one of our tours and bring a friend.
Tell the members of your club or church why you support LSC or invite an LSC spokesperson to visit.

It is with sincere and heartfelt thanks that we
recognize the generosity of our donors and our
volunteers of 100 hours or more, whose generous
gifts strengthen the quality of life for those
served by LSC.
The pages that follow recognize donors whose
2014 gifts benefited LSC, LSC senior services,
LSC child and family services, or any LSC
affiliate. Cumulative and planned giving donors
also are gratefully acknowledged. Please know
that every effort is made to record and report
gifts accurately. If a mistake has been made,
please accept our sincere apologies and contact
the LSC Administrative Office at 704-637-2870 so
that we can update our records.
Also, please note that this year we are honoring
the LSC Decade Donors. Decade Donors, whose
names are bolded at all giving levels, are those
who have contributed to LSC consistently for the
last 10 consecutive years or more.

LSC Good Shepherds
The LSC Good Shepherds is an honorary group whose level of giving or volunteer support is fundamental to the LSC
ministry. The LSC Good Shepherds is comprised of the Shepherd Legacy Society, the Shepherd Volunteer Society,
the Shepherd Giving Society, and a new listing, the Shepherd Cumulative Giving Society.

This group includes living individual donors who have made $50,000 or more in cumulative cash gifts to LSC during
their lifetimes and organizations that have made $100,000 or more in cumulative cash gifts to LSC.

n In 2014, the Shepherd Volunteer Society lost one
of its most faithful members, the Rev. Ernest Ridenhour. After moving to Trinity View in 2004 with his wife,
Evelyn, Ridenhour volunteered as chaplain, spent
many hours transporting residents to community
outreach programs, and led efforts to improve the
woodland trails that surround the Arden senior living
community. He also served three three-year terms on
what was then the LSA Board of Trustees. He is
pictured here with Evelyn, who has also been a very
active LSC volunteer.
Employee Giving Surpasses $50,000 Mark
LSC employees rock! In 2014, through the annual staff giving
appeal, LSC employees demonstrated their generosity and
commitment to those they serve through generous gifts
totaling $50,640.42. Employees were able to designate those
gifts to either a We Believe fund or to LSC to be used wherever needed most. We Believe fund gifts help meet the needs
of senior services or child and family services clients when
other resources are not available. In the past, We Believe
contributions have helped to pay for everything from cribs
and eyeglasses to summer camp and talking wristwatches!
