(AB) ■ Iris Room ■ Iris A ■ Iris B ■ Willow Room ■ Lounge ■ Gymnasium Winter/Spring 2009 ■ Programs & Events General Information 5 Dear Resident, The residents of Itasca enjoy a community that offers them so much more then garbage pick-up, snow removal, water, sewer and a scenic atmosphere. What Itasca also provides are opportunities to take memories with you for the rest of your life. Do you remember the dress you bought 3 years ago? The 2nd cell phone? A DVD from last year? Your 4th car? What the Itasca Park District and the Village of Itasca offer you is the chance to have a bank of memories that will live on in our mind for many years to come. How about when your son had his first hit in little league? Your daughter danced in her first recital? When you first swam the entire lap at the pool? Go Dolphins! How about that soccer goal that took 3 years to make? You either were on that team or on the sidelines cheering them on and jumping for joy with their accomplishment. You finally finished the aerobic class without gasping for breath. Do you still have the craft project on display in your home? I remember how my thighs burned after the adult tap class session and how I hoofed my way through the dance recital. My husband and I still talk about the ballroom dancing lesson we had that brought tears to our eyes from laughter. The Itasca Park District and the Village of Itasca combine their efforts to bring to the residents of our community events that memories are built upon. Oktoberfest this year was a prime example. People were talking about the successful weekend way after the last brat was eaten. Most recently, the revamped Halloweenfest was a great success with the family event, two kids’ dances and the New Haunted House. Over 450 people dared to enter the transformed Recreation Center. Fun was had by all! Santa coming to the Village Hall is highly anticipated for the children of our town. How many eggs are found at the Easter Egg Hunt? We all cheer on the participants in the Memorial Day Parade and mourn those who gave so much for our freedom. ItascaFest is a great tradition. National Night Out attendance increases every year. The Itasca web page lists upcoming events. Our brochure has the upcoming seasons activities listed as well. Our programs offer you a chance to build those memories either alone or with your family and friends. As time goes on we cherish memories so much more than material objects. Just listening to our grandparents talk about their life experiences reinforces the fact that we are building them as we live now. Memories light the corners of our mind forever. The Itasca Park District and the Village of Itasca will keep giving you the opportunity to build upon them.
