hair­stylist seems to have
a track record winning
awards — “World Hairdresser
Champion” is just one. Still,
winning the Color Zoom
Challenge was the biggest
achievement of Rustam’s life.
He owns the Beauty Salon
“MirAsov” in the heart of
Moscow, Russia.
Neil is our cutting expert this
year. His great talent was
discovered in 2010 when he
was one of the Color Zoom
Winners. Since then his career
grew from strength to strength,
from award winning stylist to
becoming a Color Zoom
Master. It is no surprise that
Neil is a great mentor for the
winners. He runs his own salon
in Edinburgh, UK.
After more than 30 years in
the business Derrick is
probably the most
experienced of the winners.
He was trained in San Diego,
California, as well as
prestigious academies in
London. Working with the
Color Zoom Creative Team
was really fun for him.
Derrick works at “TresImage”
in Reno, USA.
Agnes has been our color
expert already for many years.
No doubt, she understands
color and is totally passionate
about her craft. In 2014 she
won the “Hairstylist of the Year”
award, Netherlands. Agnes
is Creative Director at “Twins
Hair & Beauty” in Dalen,
Netherlands.
Kuku is an amazingly talented,
young Malaysian hairdresser
who works on commercial,
movie and concert productions
as well as on projects with big
beauty magazines like
Cosmopolitan. Nevertheless
winning the Color Zoom
Challenge has been Kuku’s
greatest success so far. He works
for the “Headline” salon in
Taipei, Taiwan.
John is Goldwell’s renowned
beauty expert of the team.
As a Global Master from
North America he’s been one
of Goldwell’s top stylists
worldwide for many years.
With his experience and
understanding of color
techniques he inspired and
motivated the whole team.
John lives and works in
Pennsylvania, North America.

Zoom Creative Team — the team which will
create the Color Zoom ’15 Collection
together with Goldwell.
The Traditional Rebels Collection is born.
The Global Color Zoom Creative Team and
Goldwell meet in Düsseldorf for a creative
workshop to translate the fashion insights
into a hair fashion collection. Encompassing
outstanding color combinations as well as
fashion oriented cuts and styles. Seven days
of inspiration, fun, discussions, laughter …
and creativity!

Casting time in London. We look for eight
girls to showcase the new Color Zoom
Collection. Girls, who fit to the fashion
statement, embody Goldwell’s idea of
beauty and turn into Traditional Rebels
in front of the camera.

the essence, mix in some cultural references and then
reconstruct it to create something new.
It’s the hottest trend in fashion: taking elements from the past

Some of the world’s best stylists came together in the Global
Color Zoom ’15 Creative Team to design a brand new collection
that takes this trend into hairstyling.
The outcome is amazing: While preserving the essence of a
style, the team designed looks that display a new, most beautiful
“unexpected elegance”. The concept of harmony/disharmony
as well as stunning color combinations and tribal inspiration
push the limits of hairstyling to new heights. Looks manifest

COLORING IN THE BANDEAU TECHNIQUE
CUT
We can showcase and underline our individual style with the “Bandeau
Technique”. A technique the Creative Color Zoom Team has developed
for the Traditional Rebels Collection. The bandeau by definition is a fabric,
which wraps the head or body to emphasize the shape. Becoming an
accessory or statement to the clothing. The bandeau in hair is the perfect
way to create a color statement and to showcase the shape of a cut or the
texture. Becoming an individual statement of its own.
The “Bandeau Technique” works within the cut as well. Modern precision
is emphasized by the circular sections of the bandeau as the points
allow the erratic round interior texture to become modern and unique.
The cuts are rounded but with angular elements which creates a perfect
harmony/disharmony effect. Interior layers were integrated to create a
movement and a new raw edge in each style. Show your craftsmanship
in each look by slice cutting, (deep) point cutting or freehand (slice) cutting
to give the cut a raw undone edge but with an unexpected elegance at the
same time.

For Traditional Rebels the “Bandeau Technique” is the method of
coloring their hair to express the individual shape.
The “Bandeau Technique” is characterized by a bandeau-shaped section,
which consist of curves and points, which contour the head. The curve
shows the strength of the cut and the fastening points emphasize the
texture and styling. Inside the bandeau solid block coloring and mirrored
foils provide interesting contrasts and a unique look for every style.
The “Bandeau Technique” uses a mirroring method of foiling to allows a
unique application that shows true color movement. Either with a solid
back to back block color to make a bold statement or with background in
between each foil to show a delicate stitch of color.
Styling
To underline the rounded shape with angular elements combine and fuse
the color and cut together by individually styling with a rough and raw
texture or with curls and waves. The styling and texture underline the
color and cut placement.

The key element in this cut is the decon­
structed fringe. A band section is placed

Brush the fringe out of face and blow dry
the hair with a bristle round brush to create
volume. Then pin into curls and left to cool.
Back comb the hair with your fingers and

Reminiscent of the sweetness of a midlength look, reconstructed with urban
texture — that’s what Flo’s cut is about.
Her haircut is based on “internal layering”
to create movement. Cut the disconnected

cutting to create this deconstructed fringe.
The texture of the fringe is a statement
disrupted by using a point cutting.

This cut is a short choppy cut with a punk
feeling. An inspiration look which is de­
constructed and reconstructed by using
interior layers with point cutting.
Through the interior layers and a gradua­
tion at the nape create a round bob shape.
The disconnected band shape at the
front with concave/convex layering creates
this grungy punk feel that has an edge of
sophistication. Use point cutting for the
exterior length to create a softer look. Use
slice and deep cutting to finish the cut.
The expanded texture is inspired from the
surface of fabrics like bouclé. Back comb
sections of the hair on top and straighten
the ends with a flat iron. Twist the tips into

Take the classic bob that has been a
trend for decades and deconstruct then
reconstruct it with interior layering.
Disconnection within the layers gives you
more styling variations without losing
the strong geometric shape of the bob.
The cut looks like a one length bob at
first glance but it hidden movement and
when styled can give you endless shapes.
This was executed by disconnecting a
band section on top and cutting concave
layers in underneath. The disconnected
section was dropped down over the under
layers and personalized to create an
element of surprise.

Taking the era of baroque as an inspiration
deconstructed and reconstructed it into
something new.
Textured geometrics and round interior
form gives new life to a traditional
bob. The versatility is shown through the
textured movement. With each move you
see the intricate placement of color against
the dissonance of texture.
Apply StyleSign Hot Form through the
hair. Blow dry the hair on top with a flat
side parting using a brush.
The texture here has been created using a
curling iron and small tongs. Each strand
was pinned into shape, then left to cool
down. Afterwards it was brushed out
to give the look a round shape with an
explosion of texture at the front and back.
Finish the look with Unlimitor to create
definition and provide new volume to the
form as it moves with a chaotic texture
clash showing the tones of the Berry,
Midnight and Paprika.

Nianga’s bandeau is the most solid and wraps
around her head. The color is reminiscent of
a jewel-like, embellished fabric which shows
the primal texture of curl and color diffusing
and moving with the light. Her color allows the
light to glow on the dark faceted hair with a
tone on tone contrast that is saturated with
brilliant shine. The background shade is dark
Tobacco which plays with accents of golden
Hunter green and Berry tones that give neutral
control to darker hair.

The cut with this round shape allows the
color to move as well as giving form to the
curls. For this style freehand cutting was
used by pulling sections of for hair and
cutting visually with scissors to create this
rounded shape with a natural raw feel.
Inspired by strong royal women and African
tribes every twist and wave shows a
different detail to the cut, color and style.
The back and sides were crafted into a
classic twist. In the top section the curls
were created by wrapping sections
of hair around small tongs. Hand-set

waves at the front were created with a
big curling iron and pinned in with clips.
Hair was brushed out and back combed
into this shape, clipped with pins. Expand
the top and make it rough for a more

The disruption of the interior curved band
through the combination of dark and light
accents on each side shows the color
movement and a fresh and modern twist.

Nastya wears a Pixie look that is de­
constructed and reconstructed to give
length. But still maintains soft outlines. The
interior texture with a disconnected drop
fringe shows individual geometrics and
creates color movement. The soft ends and
outlines make the haircut feminine and give
the client more play within the hairstyle.
Use deep point cutting at the back and
the sides to create a tear drop fringe for a
stronger look at the front. Use freehand
slice and deep point cutting to create this
raw feel.

form that was seen in the hip-hop scene.
A play with a strong geometric shape
and a rounded form makes it more soft
and feminine.
Work with scissors over comb only on the
sides. Use freehand cutting to create that

scissors to outline the shape of the haircut.
