Children Are Precious and Important
“But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from
coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”” (Matthew
19:14 NASB)
This passage occurs when people are bringing children to Jesus to be blessed by
him and the disciples are trying to keep them back lest they bother Jesus. Notice how
Jesus responds by encouraging the children to come rather than discouraging them.
In Luke’s rendering of this situation, Luke includes another significant point. He
tells us that Jesus stressed the importance of child-like faith: “truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” (Luke
18:17 ESV)
Certainly these and other passages of Scripture convince us that Jesus cares
about our children!
I believe that this fact alone ought to cause us to do all that we can to see to it
that our children get to know Jesus personally here at our church and in our homes.
Parents have the first and primary responsibility of introducing their kids to Christ. But
they don’t have to do it alone. Family, friends and the church should all be there right
alongside the parents helping teach our children about who
Jesus is and also about how much He loves them.
One of the ways we can do this as a church is through Sunday
School. Therefore, we’re going to try to keep Sunday School
going through the summer months.
We’ve been blessed to have two wonderful teachers lead our
Sunday School for the last nine months and now it’s time to
give them a well deserved break by granting them some time
off.
In order to do this we need some more volunteers who are
willing to teach Sunday School during June, July and August. I
believe a team of four volunteers would be ideal. The 3-12
year olds are divided into two groups usually, so a team of
four could cover for each other so that each week there were at least two of the four
present to teach. Sunday School runs from 9:00-10:00 each Sunday morning. We’d begin the summer session on June 7th and go through August 30th, taking off the 5th of
July since that becomes such a busy holiday weekend.
Lest you think that I’m asking you to do something that I’m not willing to do, let
me assure you that I am committed by telling you my plans for the summer Sunday
School session. I am going to offer a class for the teenagers. In fact, I’m excited about
this, so if you are a teenager or have a teenager in your home, start planning now to be
a part of my class!
And parents, we’re not forgetting about you...Pastor Richie will be continuing to
teach an Adult Sunday School Class that all of you parents are welcome (and encouraged) to join while your youngsters are attending their classes.
What a great opportunity to grow up in Christ. See you in Sunday
School!
His and yours,
Pastor Dave

We lift up many of our faith family who need an extra measure of God’s grace as they fight with illness, face surgery, gain strength in
recovery and healing, grieve the loss of loved ones, search for new employment, and seek God’s will for their lives.

To stay up-to-date on the prayer requests we are asking if you have someone on the prayer list you want to keep on the list,
please submit a new prayer request. Fill out the “Comments, Prayer Requests and Praise” tear-off on the side of Sunday’s
bulletins. We will be compiling a new prayer request list EACH month. You will need to fill out one of these requests
each month you would like us to continue praying. You could also e-mail your prayer request to
[email protected].
This will help us to stay up-to-date on each individual request. We also appreciate your updates on answered prayers.

We give thanks to God and to each
one of you for your faithfulness in
giving. Please continue to pray that God
will provide for our church’s financial

behind our budgeted needs. Each of
us has the privilege of prayerfully considering our pattern of giving and seeking God’s
direction so that we are offering to Him
what He desires.

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was
made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of
the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for
me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.

We will be continuing our Sunday morning worship schedule during the summer
months. The worship schedule will be as follows:
9:00-10:00 AM Sunday School Hour
10:00-10:15 AM Coffee and Rolls
10:15-11:30 AM Contemporary Family Worship
Children’s Church Provided at the Second Service
If you would like to step up to help teach one of the children’s Sunday
School classes during the 12 weeks of summer so our teachers can have a
break, please either talk to Pastor Richie or call the church office at 218-963-2626.
Mark your
calendars for the
Common Ground
Family Bike Hike
We will be continuing our Wednesday evening ADULT BIBLE
STUDY through the summer, meeting at the church from 6:007:30 pm. Now that our AWANA and youth programs have
ended for the season, this provides the opportunity for some of
you who volunteer to teach, listen and lead these programs to
actually come and be fed yourself rather than having to constantly be feeding our children and youth. We’re continuing to
study the Gospel of Luke and absolutely enjoying the rigorous
discussions that arise from our study of the text. There’s so
much to learn and so little time to cover it all, we never run out
of things to talk about. Come and join us. You will most certainly be blessed!
Everybody is welcome. If you can’t commit to being here every
week, don’t worry about it. Each lesson is self-contained so you
can be a part of any and each lesson that you are able to attend.
Here’s our projected May schedule:

May 13 Luke 6:12-19

Air Tech has asked a lot of the surrounding community in the past year, so we figured it was time to give
back! to those that have helped us get established. We want to help build up as we have been built. For Christ
Community it is easy with all the upgrades taking place. We are proposing that every family that donates $50
toward the Building Fund, we will give them a year subscription to Air Tech’s signature club membership free
of charge (normally costs $156/year). There are no strings attached, we are simply giving back.
Here is what would be included in a club membership:
-1 furnace Tune Up and 1 A/C Tune Up
-Keeps your system running at peak efficiency
-Extend the life of your system (fewer breakdowns)
-Safety inspections on all system components
-guaranteed appointments in 24 hours or less
-20% discount on future service
-20% discount on system accessories
-10% discount on replacement of systems
-20% discount on duct cleaning
-Service fee reduced to $39.95
-Club members go to the top of the appointment book -Special offers and savings throughout the year
-Keeps warranties on all heating and cooling systems valid
Air Tech also works on and installs water heaters, boilers, and light plumbing (small leaks under
sink, re-plumbing toilet, outside faucets). They also do all gas work from installing to servicing.
Any questions, please talk to Rob Biley or call the Air Tech Office at 218-297-0130
*If you are wanting to take advantage of this great opportunity, we ask that you please write
“building fund/club mem” in the memo on your check so we can be sure to get your name to Air Tech.*
The Care and Share Ladies will be having a free will offering fundraiser
on Sunday, May 17th immediately following the morning service in the
fellowship hall. There will be a Build Your Own Potato Bar with assorted
toppings (cheese, bacon, broccoli, chili, onions, butter, sour cream, top
the tator, etc.). There will also be dessert to go along with the potatoes.
