Westergasfabriek is a renovated 19th century industrial complex
set in modern landscaped parkland - just a stone’s throw away
from Amsterdam city centre. With 5,000 m2 venue space,
14 breakout rooms and 14 hectares of outfield, Westergasfabriek
is the perfect location to host a wide variety of events such as
congresses, exhibitions, workshops, product launches, dinner
parties and fashion shows.
Westergasfabriek’s venues are sturdy and ruggedly elegant,
with weatherworn walls, high ceilings and huge original roof
constructions. The industrial buildings are tastefully renovated
and meet all the comforts of modern time, including a high
speed fibre-optic network and WiFi throughout the park.

The Gashouder (Gasholder) is the most iconic building on the
Westergasfabriek site. A beautiful circular hall of over 2500 m2
where you can literally take your space. The pillar-less interior with
an impressive cast iron roof construction is unique in its own.
Anyone who visits an event here will surely never forget it.

The Zuiveringshal West (West Refinery) stretches along the
waterside. The listed interior is long and high with weathered
walls and a vast iconic ceiling. It is one of Westergasfabriek’s

The Transformatorhuis (Transformer House) is a charming
building with an exceptional timber roof construction and
long, high windows. The Transformatorhuis is situated next
to the Gashouder.

At the center of the long Zuiveringsgebouw on the Pazzanistraat
is the Openbare Verlichting (Public Lighting). This unadorned hall
has a striking mezzanine balcony running around the interior.
The space is equipped as a turnkey congress setting. It is situated
adjacent to the Zuiveringshal West and opposite the Machinegebouw
(Machine Building). These buildings are often combined for hosting
larger events.

The Machinegebouw (Machine Building) is one of the smaller
event locations. The rugged factory building has high arched windows
that give it a church-like atmosphere. The building is completely
freestanding and offers two spaces: a light hall with a wooden roof
and a smaller adjoining room known as ‘the chapel’.

The Westelijk Meterhuis (Western Meter House) proves that
good things come in small packages. This modestly sized
building on the corner of the Pazzanistraat is fully furnished
and has four separate rooms. This makes it flexible to use
for meetings, trainings, breakout sessions, workshops or as
temporary office space. The Westelijk Meterhuis is often used
as a production office or press centre for larger events.

The Leidinghuis ( Piping House) consists of two semicircular extensions
to the Gashouder. The original antique tiling, timber rafters and vaulted
arches give this small building great character. Dutch designer Piet Hein
Eek transformed the Leidinghuis into a rugged and distinctive hotel
apartment with every comfort.
The Leidinghuis can be booked in combination with the Gashouder for
use as a VIP room or private area for the keynote speaker or performers.
It can also be hired separately, whether for a overnight stay, a meeting
or a small dinner party.

Break out venues
Westergasfabriek BV rents out sixty percent of the buildings on
the site to permanent occupants. These tenants include creative
businesses, cultural organisations and several entertainment venues.
Some of these locations are also available to hire for congresses,
festivals and other events. A total of 14 break outs are available,
mostly fully equipped (including bars, furniture, light and sound).
They are frequently used in combination with the Westergasfabriek
event venues.

The buildings of Westergasfabriek are situated in a beautiful
modern city park. It is frequently used for outdoor events, often
in combination with the venues. It gives many opportunities to
give a real ‘festival flair’ to an event or simply to create extra space.
Tents can be set up in the various outdoor areas.

Westergasfabriek venues can be rented empty, giving you complete
freedom to set your event up according to your wishes. You can
also choose to have Westergasfabriek partially or completely service
your event.
Together with our partners we can provide full service solutions for
an event from beginning to end. We work with producers, caterers,
technicians and other services specialised in the buildings of Westergasfabriek. They offer the service and quality we find important for a
