It’s adjacent to Miraloma elementary school as well. 25 Omar Way @ Sequoia Way Golden Gate Heights Playground The park has a small children’s play area that has mostly been removed due to pressure treated lumber. It also has a tennis court, open meadow, and walking path with views of the ocean. This park has recently received funding from the COF and the District 7 participatory budget. It is a tier two park for the Failing Playground task force list. 15th Ave and Noriega Midtown Terrace Playground Renovated last in 2009? This park is also a #sfwifi location with Free Outdoor Wifi. It’s located at Teresita Ave & Melrose near Monterrey Blvd. Aptos Playground This Park was last renovated in 2006 and offers a clubhouse, playground, tennis court, basketball court, and a baseball diamond. This park is also next to Aptos Middle School. The park is located at the corner of Aptos and Ocean Ave. West Portal Playground West Portal Park was last renovated in 2005 when the clubhouse was expanded and modernized. The park also consists of a playground, tennis court, and open field. The park is next to West Portal Elementary School and is directly above the West Portal MUNI station. This park is also a tier 2 playground for the failing playground task force. There is funding being raised to renovate this play structure by the neighborhood association. It is located at Ulloa St and Lenox Way Rolph Nicol Jr. Playground This park offers a small play structure and an open field. It’s located between St. Stephen’s Catholic School and Lowell High School. I couldn’t find the last time this park was renovated, however the small play area that is there looks fairly new. This park is located at Eucalyptus and 24th Ave. near Stonestown Mall. Lake Merced/HardingFleming Golf Courses Lake Merced Park is owned by the PUC, but managed by RPD. The park is 614 acres with all types of activities like boating, fishing, target shooting, golf, jogging, picnicking, and dining. The two golf courses, Fleming and Harding, were renovated in 2005 to better accommodate the PGA Tour Events. The rest of the park has seen small improvements over the years and some funding is slated for it soon. There are the known current controversies surrounding the boat house and the Rod and Gun Clubs. It is located in the south west corner of the City at Skyline Blvd. and Harding Rd. SF State is located across the street from much of the Park. San Francisco Zoo The Elinor Friend Playground was renovated and reopened in November 2013. While the Zoological Society runs the Zoo, the RPD has have some influence over the Zoo. The Zoo is located at the end of Sloat Blvd. at the Great Highway. Hawk Hill This is a hill top sand dune that does not have public access due to the sensitivity of the site and potential for erosion. Hawk Hill is home to the green hairstreak butterfly which is only found here and the coastal bluffs of the Presidio within San Francisco. Hawk Hill is located at the meeting point of Forest Hill, Golden Gate Heights, and the Sunset District. It also sits above West Portal. Mt. Davidson Park Mt. Davidson Park is the highest point in San Francisco at 938 feet. Mt. Davidson has many sitting areas, trails, flora and fauna. The Park has a distinguishing feature in the the cross that sits a top it. The small area around the cross was sold in 1997 by the City and RPD so the cross could continue to stand. There has been recent issues surrounding the park and potential plans to remove some of the hazardous trees on it. I am not aware of any large scale investment in this park in recent years. Grandview Park This park has a great sitting area atop it that provides views across the North Western areas of the City. The park has a few hiking trails and not too many other amenities. It is however a great place for photos and to watch the Blue Angels. The stairway in the photo leads up to the park via Moraga St. and was completed by the local neighborhood association in 2005. The park is located at Moraga and 14th Ave. I am not aware of any significant investment in this park in recent years. Sunnyside Conservatory The conservatory dates back to 1898 and was last renovated in 2009 with community fundraising. The space is used for community events and is also available for private rentals like weddings. The Conservatory is located at Monterrey Blvd. at Baden. The RPD website incorrectly lists this property in District 8. Brotherhood and Chester Mini Park This mini park is located at 501 Brotherhood Way. It has a basketball court and walking paths. I could not locate any information on the last renovation of this property. Twin Peaks Trails and Vista Points Twin Peaks is the Eastern border of district 7. Twin Peaks offers sweeping views of nearly the entire City and hiking trails all along it. Twin Peaks has recently had some work and planning for a new trail to connect it to Portola Drive. Rocky Outcrop Is an open space area located at Ortega and 14th Ave. It is home to the San Bruno Elfin Butterfly, a federally endangered species. There are no trails here, but it can be viewed from Pacheco Street. White Crane Springs Community Garden This is the only community garden located in district 7 and has been in operation since 1972. There are 80 individual plots and is located on 7th Ave. just before Lawton St. Borderline Parks Both Glen Park and Stern Grove are border parks for District 7. Both parks have seen improvements in recent years and both are major parks in the City.
