February 5, 2016 Update - Queen of Peace Catholic Academy
F E B R U A R Y 2 0 1 6 the QPCA Saints Pastor: Father Jeffrey McGowan Principal: Tammie Vassou Principal’s Message Catholic Schools Week was filled with excitement for everyone. The faculty and staff would like to thank everyone for helping make the week a huge success for our students and faculty. As we approach Ash Wednesday we are given an opportunity to deny ourselves of small things in order to gain clarity of heart, mind, and soul. This process will allow each of us to see the present for what is really is and the future for what it still can be. What will you do to help bring clarity to your life this Lenten season? The Virtue of the Week: Mercy – Mercy is caring for the needs of people’s minds, hearts, and lives. It means to share in God’s forgiveness and love. Scripture Reference Matthew 5:7 – Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy. Have the BEST week! Mrs. Vassou Our Champions Congratulations to several of our amazing students that were recognized as being “Champions of Character.” Lillian Nesty, Mackenzie Moran, Ashley Ray, Salma Ladkani, Jaden Navarro, David Ray, Julian Gilbert, Daniel Frederick, Erin McEwan (not pictured) and Faith Faborzian (not pictured) were nominated as QPCA “Champions of Character.” Nominations are based on exemplifying good behavior, sportsmanship, and exceptional school work ethic. The University of Florida Athletic Association sponsors this wonderful program. Go QPCA Saints! Save the Date! We missed our December goal, but it would be fantastic to have it in place by the end of the school year. We need your help to make this dream a reality. Thank you to the 42 families that have already generously contributed to our playground project! If you would like to make a donation, then please write a check to Queen of Peace and include “playground” in the memo. You can include in the weekly offertory or deliver to the church or school office. 3
