Filed 08/25/11 Page 1 of 39
This list was compiled from data provided by the California Secretary of State’s Office and contains donations to major “Yes on Proposition
8” groups that derive from corporate bank accounts. This list does not include CEO’s or senior executives of organizations that may have
contributed, but did not do so from an identifiable corporate account. Due to some complexities in how the donations were tracked, there may
be more companies that are not on the list. Also, the amounts should be considered approximate.

The ProtectMarriage campaign reported Monday that a Prop 8
supporter was attacked Sunday, October 12 by an apparent
opponent of the measure.
According to an e-mail from Chip White, press secretary for Yes
on 8, Jose Nunez, 37, was waiting to distribute yard signs to
other supporters of the measure after church at Modesto's St.
Stanislaus Parish Sunday.
White's e-mail, which was sent out on Monday, said that
someone grabbed about 75 signs and yelled at Nunez, "What do
you have against gays?" Nunez replied that he had nothing
against gays, according to the e-mail, and was then attacked.
In an e-mail to the Bay Area Reporter , Sergeant Brian Findlen, a
Modesto police spokesman, wrote that the suspect apparently
took the signs and was followed by Nunez. When Nunez caught
up with the suspect, the suspect allegedly punched Nunez once. According to White, Nunez - his eye dripping with blood - walked into a building on church grounds where a fellow
parishioner called 911.
The church's pastor did not respond to a request for comment.
White's e-mail said Nunez "suffered a bloody eye, serious wounds to his face, and a scratch to his knee."
Findlen said that Nunez suffered a laceration near his eye that required medical treatment, and was transported by
ambulance to a local hospital. He said he couldn't confirm the other injuries.
Findlen said Nunez was assaulted at about 11:15 a.m. The case has been assigned to a detective.
"We have investigative leads ... and hope to identify the suspect in this case," Findlen wrote.
According to White, Nunez, a native of Mexico, became an American citizen two months ago and has three children,
ages 9, 5, and 3.
"It's outrageous that the No campaign calls themselves the voice of tolerance and moderation and wants people to
feel bad for supporting Prop 8," White said in the e-mail. "There was nothing tolerant or moderate about beating up
Jose."
White did not provide a phone number for Nunez by press time.
The No on 8 campaign sent out an e-mail Monday calling for a peaceful campaign.
Asked about the incident in a conference call with reporters Tuesday, Patrick Guerriero, No on 8's campaign director,
said, "Our campaign and its values are all about respect for every single citizen."
In Larchmont, a suburb of Sacramento, sheriff's deputies were called to a home Saturday after it was reported that a

neighborhood teenager burned No on 8 yard signs. The teenager was taken into custody for a 72-hour psychological
evaluation. While the youth was in custody, a third sign was stolen from the same home.
Paul Curtis and Ray Allen, a couple who own a home in the neighborhood, said neighbors have been divided over
Prop 8. Their own No on 8 sign has not been damaged.

Sacramento, Calif., Oct 15, 2008 /
08:17 pm (CNA).- This past Sunday, a
parishioner at St. Stanislaus Catholic
Church in Modesto, California was
attacked while helping promote
Proposition 8, which will define
marriage as only between a man and a
woman in California. According to
promoters of the initiative, the assault
is part of a “wave of violence”
throughout the state.
Jose Nunez, 37, was waiting outside of
St. Stanislaus for Mass to finish so he
could distribute yard signs to Prop. 8
supporters when he was approached
by an opponent of the initiative.
The unidentified man grabbed about 75
of the “Vote Yes on 8” signs and ran.
Nunez then spotted the man trying to
throw the signs over a wall and
approached him.

When he got nearer, the man shouted,
"What do you have against gays!" to which Nunez replied that he had nothing
against gays.
When Nunez attempted to take the stolen signs from the assailant, the man
punched him. The blow sent Nunez to the hospital, where he received 16 stitches
for the wound below his left eye.
“Yes on 8” press secretary Chip White told CNA that the irony of the whole episode
is that, the opponents of Prop. 8 “are the ones who are claiming to be tolerant and
open-minded.”
"It's outrageous that the ‘No’ campaign calls themselves the voice of tolerance and
moderation and wants people to feel bad for supporting Prop. 8. There was nothing
tolerant or moderate about beating up Jose," said White. "Clearly the man who
attacked Jose is intolerant of those who support traditional marriage," he added.

In an interesting twist, Jose Nunez is originally from Mexico but just became a U.S.
citizen two months ago. He will be voting for the first time in November. Nunez is
also active in his parish as the Grand Knight of the St. Stanislaus Council Knights of
Columbus, an organization that has contributed more than $1 million to the
campaign for Prop. 8.
The attack has not lessened Nunez´s support for Proposition 8.
"The other side wants to intimidate us, but we can't stop standing up for traditional
marriage,” he said. “I may be bloody and bruised, but I'm not giving up. Protecting
traditional marriage is just too important for our kids," added Nunez, who is the
father of three children, ages 9, 5, and 3.
According to Chip White, Californians from around the state have reported being
harassed by people who are against Prop. 8. Among the incidents he related were:
verbal harassment of Prop.8 supporters on the freeway, including obscene
gestures; the theft of yard signs; and a woman in Riverside, California who had her
garage sprayed with graffiti.
White characterized the incidents as “a whole wave of intimidation and violence up
and down the state.”

Memorial Day Prayers
On Memorial Day I must pray to the souls of those who gave their lives, those who gave up all their
tomorrows so that I can have mine, and ask their forgiveness. They died for Mom, Pop, apple pie,
justice, honesty, morality, liberty and the flag. They died for my freedom. Now our society presents,
same sex marriage, injustice, legislative liars, moral decay, politically incorrect speech not allowed,
illegal immigration, and flag burning. I must pray to their souls and ask forgiveness, for, I let it
happen.

I hope some eyewitness is able to identify the assailant; that's totally reprehensible behavior.
However, characterizing opponents of Prop 8 based on this one unidentified attacker would be as
wrong-headed as characterizing Prop 8 supporters based on Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist
Church, or on people who have beaten or killed others for being gay. You wouldn't want that, would
you?

Thank you for posting and for the ministry of your website. I very much want our nation and world to
honor marriage as God intended - between one man and one woman - as a life long bond before
Him. Let's be praying Christians - Protestant, Roman Catholic, And Orthodox - For we are all sinners
in need of His saving grace, love and direction in these times.

Possibly there is a mistaken notion that same-sex unions are part and parcel of basic human rights, a
natural follow-through of earlier causes. Please consider that, Mrs. O'Riordan. Feel free to correct the
people who hold that notion, but please don't demonize the people.

I don't understand why they respond with attacks when we're doing our part peacefully. Our yard sign
was vandalized the same day we put it up and I don't get how they want us to respect their "rights"
when they don't respect ours. Yes on 8!

Wow - the ones who demand tolerance can't treat others the way they want to be treated. What a
surprise. Extremists - whether left or right leaning - are always the problem, and ironically the most
intolerant.

God bless you mightily, Jose Nunez! When you turned the other cheek you were as Christ-like as
one can be. Thank you for your courage, perseverance and righteous stand for Prop. 8. We support
you in prayer. Godspeed in your mission!

Correct me if I'm wrong but never in the known history of mankind have homosexuals lobbied for

PROP. 8 SUPPORTER VIOLENTLY ATTACKED FOR
DISTRIBUTING LAWN SIGNS
October 13, 2008
Contact: Chip White/Sonja Eddings Brown, 916-215-4392
"We are at one of those moments. This is
THE major change point of the last few
decades..."
MODESTO-October 13—In a violent display of intolerance, an opponent of Proposition 8
attacked and seriously injured a man who was volunteering on Sunday for the initiative to define
marriage as between and a man and a woman. Prop. 8 supporter, Jose Nunez, 37, was brutally assaulted while waiting to distribute yard signs
to other supporters of the initiative after church services at the St. Stanislaus Parish in
Modesto. 109,065
The assailant grabbed about 75 signs and yelled at Nunez accusingly, “What do you have
against gays!” Although Nunez replied that he had nothing against gays, he was attacked
anyway. The assailant punched Nunez in the left eye and ran off with the signs. Nunez, his eye dripping with blood, walked into a building on church grounds where a fellow
parishoner called 911. Police and paramedics responded to the scene. Nunez, who suffered a bloody eye, serious wounds to his face, and a scratch to his knee, was
rushed by ambulance to a local hospital where he received 16 stitches under his eye. According to the Yes on 8 campaign, the attack shows that their opponents are not as tolerant
and open-minded as they would like voters to believe. “It’s outrageous that the No campaign calls themselves the voice of tolerance and moderation
and wants people to feel bad for supporting Prop. 8. There was nothing tolerant or moderate
about beating up Jose,” said ProtectMarriage.com—Yes on 8 press secretary Chip White. “Clearly the man who attacked Jose is intolerant of those who support traditional marriage,”
White added. Ironically, Nunez, a native of Mexico, became an American citizen two months ago and plans to
vote for the first time in November. Nunez, who is recovering and in good spirits, said the attack
only strengthens his resolve to help ensure that Prop. 8 passes. “The other side wants to intimidate us, but we can’t stop standing up for traditional marriage. I
may be bloody and bruised, but I’m not giving up. Protecting traditional marriage is just too
important for our kids,” said Nunez, the father of three children, ages 9, 5, and 3. “I don’t want
my kids taught in public school that same sex-marriage is the same as traditional marriage,”
Nunez added. Nunez has been forced to take time off work to recover. It was not immediately clear how much
Nunez will suffer in medical expenses and lost wages. Anyone who is interested in contributing funds toward Nunez’s medical expenses or lost wages
may contact the campaign at [email protected]. The campaign asks those who have been attacked, threatened, or had yard signs stolen to file a
police report and to email the campaign. ###

Gay marriage debate becomes
violent
A Modesto man was attacked while passing out Yes On Prop 8 signs last Sunday.
Jose Nunez, 37, who became a U.S. citizen two months ago, was outside St. Stanislaus Catholic
Church when an unidentified man grab about 75 of the signs and ran. Nunez took chase, and
when he caught up the man punched him the face.
Proposition 8 supporters, who are fighting to overturn gay marriage in California by changing
language in the state Constitution, describe this incident as part of “a wave of intimidation and
violence up and down the state.”

page.
Inbox Influence uses data from other Sunlight sites, including Influence Explorer, Transparency Data and Party Time.
The Influence Explorer about page has links to detailed methodology pages describing the sources of data, how totals
are computed and various caveats.
Inbox Influence will sometimes make mistakes when matching email text to politician and organization names. For
example, 'Gap', 'Caterpillar' and 'Oracle' are all both company names and common nouns. Similarly, politician names
will sometimes erroneously match names of ordinary people. There are probably hundreds of Jerry Browns in the US,
only three of whom are politicians. For both companies and individuals, Inbox Influence will highlight the name if it
thinks there could be a match. Variations in formatting and punctuation may also cause names to be missed.
Inbox Influence is solely a product of the Sunlight Foundation. Google did not participate in its creation. Google has
provided some funding support to Sunlight, primarily for its Apps for America contests and its TransparencyCamps.

Not Family Friendly, Dirty, Poorly Managed
Rachel H.
In the past we have loved Leatherby's icecream and have frequented it even though it is dingy and
run down inside -- but we are fed up with the poor service. We tried to use our groupon at
Leatherby's and we wanted to sit and eat one sundae with our daughter and then get 2 to take
home for our kids who were asleep in the car and my spouse who was waiting with them because
we do not live near the store. They would not allow this because the coupon said dine-in. So we
were dining in and they wouldn't let us take anything to go. I would have tipped on the full amount.
Then I offered to get the sundaes and then put them in containers myself to go and still they would
not allow it. I am not happy and will never go to Leatherby's again. It is supposed to be a family
friendly establishment and the management bullied us and embarrassed us and made us feel like
they did not want our business. When we called to complain later they were like "oh Come in now
and we will honor your request," but we were already on our way home and had wasted our time
and dignity on them. The manager just wanted to be a bully and to be rude. I will never recommend
Leatherby's or visit them ever again. Plus their restaurant is FILTHY inside and I would not want to

Unacceptable
Jon A.
I ordered two crab sandwich with fries for both, upon ordering i ask that my fries be fresh. (As the
last time i dined there they arrived at my table cold as the ice cream) My dinner arrives & sure
enough the french fries are cold & old, I immediatly tell my waiter that this is not as i had ordered,
Sorry he tells me as he takes my plate with sandwich away. Five mins later he returns with hot
fries ok great except that now these fries are very undercooked, like raw oily potatoes. Ok no fries
tonight, but even had they been good i would'nt have been able to eat them. Why you ask? No f'n
ketchup. No joke! My waiter tells me sorry we are out. Five minuts later he brings me two empty
bottles turns them upside down standing on there lids & says there ya go. I then tell him (Because
he asks how is everything?) that my fries are undercooked he agree's and say's that he is sorry.
My ice cream sundae was well... ok. Ice cream was kinda bland & the construction of the sundae
was very sloppy with way to much pinapple sauce all over it. I was on a date, so ya it was quite
lame going through this. $ 40.00 plus tip later was a total waste of money as far as i'm concerned &
i would not recomend. I told the cashier as i was leaving that i thought being out of ketchup was
unacceptable. She told me O, then looked away.
Nice Place. Overpriced as well.

The desserts at this place are absolutely sinful, but it is worth it. The ice cream is made relatively
fresh and the hot fudge is so yummy. Leatherby's also has your basic burger and sandwich meals,
but people often go there for their gigantic ice creams, which fill you up as if they were a meal in
themselves. The prices are pretty steep for dessert though. A average sundae will cost you about 7
or 8 bucks. I also love the fact that they are open so late during the weekends!
PROS: Magnificant Ice Cream Sundaies, Great Service

Leatherbys Family Creamery is my other favorite ice cream parlor. I go here for there great
sundaes and banana splits. I love their chocolate fudge topping. It is just to die for. Try Valeries
Black and White. It has marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate fudge, nuts and a cherry all on
top of chocolate and vanilla ice cream.

I heard so much about Leatherbys from so many people in this area but I didn't think it was as
great as people said it was. Maybe the hype ruined it for me. It was good ice cream don't get me
wrong but not anything I would go out of my way for. The whip cream was gross though. But the
employees were super nice and they really kept that old time home style old fashioned feeling. That
is cool. The atmosphere makes you want to eat ice cream. They also have other old fashioned ice
cream shop foods there such as burders and fries. it's all decent. Again the ice cream is good but
not out of this world.

Worth the trip
by Legionnaire at Citysearch
When I was a kid my family and I would stop for sundaes every time we were in the fremont area.
The caramel sundae with cookies and cream ice was my treat baby... After they closed down at the
fremont hub I thought they were gone forever. I decided to look up my old friends and found them
in sac only an hour from where I'm at today. It seems the ice cream shop is under some
controversial discrimination. Well I'm proud to see that they stand up for what they believe in and
for what is right. By standing against the abomination that is known as gay marriage. What is this
world coming to? I for one will be making the trip very soon to be reunited with my caramel sundae
and will be happy to enjoy it in the presence of moral people. Thank You Leatherby's!!

So my kids (9, 11 and 13) decided after eating at Leatherby's their whole lives, that they did not
want to patronize a company who did not believe in equal rights for everyone. They decided that

donating money to support the marriage between a man and a woman. We had the best service

Excellent Ice Cream!
by barrett5 at Citysearch
Leatherby's ice cream is excellent! When our FAMILY indulges in treats, it's at Leatherby's FAMILY
Creamery! The ice cream servings are ridiculously large--the prefect size to share with your
sweetheart/child(ren). Love the caramel topping with toasted almond ice cream in particular. The
prices are right, too! Leatherby's FAMILY Creamery has been a huge supporter in the community for
decades. They're a family concern with good, old fashioned FAMILY values. There simply aren't
enough solid FAMILY businesses like Leatherby's FAMILY Creamery anymore.
Anyone who speaks against Leatherby's FAMILY Creamery and accuses them of "hate" because
they support a cause, simply does not know anything about the business or the FAMILY. The same
people would be singing their praises if Leatherby's FAMILY Creamery decided their way on a
given issue. Consider the source and the anger behind their detractors, then DECIDE FOR
YOURSELF about their ice cream. I believe you'll like it, too!
As for me and my house, we will continue to support Leatherby's FAMILY Creamery! :o)

I'd rather eat dirt......
by rights at Citysearch
Other than the fact that the Arden way store smells of dirty towels and just being plain dirty, I will
not do business with people that say one thing and do the complete opposite. In your interview with
the Sacramento Bee, you, Dave Leatherby said, "Let's move on. I always told my children that once
a rule was made, you have to abide by it. I think it should be the same in this circumstance. Well,
apparently, you DO NOT PRACTICE what you preach. Apparently, you forgot about the court ruling
back in June. They said that marriage between two people with the same gender was legal. So, by
supporting Prop. 8, I am assuming that you are telling people that it's "OK" for you to go against the
law, but, for the opponents of Prop. 8, it's not okay to go against you and all the other supporters of
Prop. 8. I too am a Catholic, but I tell you what, I would rather have people of the same gender
marry, than worry about what the priests are doing in the rectory or in the confessional. Hey, but it
was "OK" for the bishops and the Catholic church itself to just sweep the pedophile priests under
the rug. What did the church do about all that? They just moved those priests to another diocese.
The Catholic church is just as hypocritical in their doctrine as you are in your so-called religious
beliefs. Try living by your advice to your children, you and all the other proponents of Prop. 8
should have "moved on" when the court ruling came down. I hope that one day, you will be put in
the same position that you have put the GLBT community in. When that happens, we will all tell you
supporters to "Let's move on". It is just so endearing that you are raising 10 more people just like
you. God save us all. You seem to be the type that would have kept women from voting, made sure
that blacks sat in the rear of the bus and made sure that there would never be inter-racial
marriages. Let me reiterate what I said before, you should have "MOVED ON".
Pros: NONE
Cons: Smelly, sticky tables and extremely slow service when you were finally seated.

by LT9999 at Citysearch
It's a no-brainer that I will never take my family to Leatherby's again (it's not like they're the only ice
cream parlor in town, anyway) after I read about their contribution to Prop 8 on the Bee's web site.
I then looked on Leatherby's web site and saw a Utah address. That explains a lot. So this
company can and its owners can spend their money to support reprehensible issues if they choose
to...I just won't be giving them any more of mine to use for it.

Long time customer and supporter but I can no longer be a patron of any company that supports

Don't waste your time or money unless quantity is more important than
quality
I ordered two scoops of two different flavors, butter pecan & some type of chocolate. The butter
pecan tasted stale. The chocolate flavor had little shivers of ice throughout and tasted stale.
Anyone who really appreciates quality ice cream knows that these are signs of improperly stored
and/or old ice cream. The portions may be large, but it's like have a large cowpie instead of a small
one. It's still a cowpie. I can't believe someone would have the audacity to compare this cheap
quality ice cream to Cold Stone.

by helenmckinley at Citysearch
I haven't been to Leatherby's in a long long time....and now I remember why. We went last night.
The restaurant was dirty...may have been all the french fries on the floor..... The service was good.
We ordered a hamburger and a reuben. The $7.25 hamburger was fair if you're into frozen patties
and not much else. The french fries were fried way to long. The reuben was awful. I think that a
reuben is supposed to have sauerkraut, swiss cheese and corned beef, on grilled rye. The
sandwich we received did have sauerkraut and grilled rye....that's about all. There was no
discernable cheese and one thin Buddig type slice of corned beef. When the waiter came around
we asked about it. He did go and bring a little more...very very disappointing. We ordered a black
and tan sundae to take home. It might have been that. Couldn't tell for sure what it was. Packed in
a styrofoam cup. I guess we should have eaten it there...but then there's those french fries on the
floor to look at....Don't waste your time. We won't be back.

Cons: food and cleanliness of store was AWFUL

On Election Day November 4, 2008, the most highly contested ballot measure in California was Proposition 8. Entitled
“Eliminates the Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry”, the purpose of Proposition 8 was to amend the state constitution
to remove the constitutional right of gays and lesbians to marry.
Proponents of Prop 8 waged a successful campaign to strip lesbian and gay citizens of their civil rights aided in large
part to the nearly $40 million they raised. Many of these donations came from businesses throughout California and
across the country.
These businesses have the right to support whatever ballot measures they want, but fair-minded citizens of all sexual
orientations also have the right to take their money elsewhere and not patronize businesses that support bigotry. This
site is not a witch-hunt but is a tool intended to help people make informed decisions when they shop for products and
services. This site hopes to overcome some of the limitations of existing Prop 8 donor databases on the web and in time
hopes to become a useful repository of all companies in the U.S. with anti-gay policies.
Using publicly available information from the California Secretary of State’s website, DontBuyFromBigots.com strives to
be the most comprehensive business-specific listing of donors to Prop 8. This site is a work in progress created and
maintained in the spare time of one person, so forgive the spartan appearance. Contact me if you want to help improve
the website.

FULLERTON - Five people were arrested early today on suspicion of participating in a sign-stealing spree the
suspects said originated in a downtown bar, Sgt. Mike MacDonald said.
A police officer patrolling the area near Chapman and Pomona avenues at 1:30 a.m. saw a passenger jump
from a car and place a campaign sign on the corner.
When the officer approached the driver, she
noticed three "No on Prop 8" signs in the vehicle.
She also located 10 torn-up "Yes on 8" signs on
the front floorboard with three McCain-Palin
signs.

The "Yes on 8" signs were allegedly stolen and
the "No on Prop 8" signs were not, police said.
When questioned, the suspects said they had
just come from a "No on 8" rally at a downtown
business and were angry, MacDonald said.
Based on their statements, all five were arrested
on suspicion of possession of stolen property.
Taken to city jail were Jonathan Barrett, 19, of
Fullerton; Jennifer Berry, 23, Covina; Emanuel
Muro, 23, Artesia; Daniel Palacios, 23,
Lakewood; and Eric Gutierrez, 23, Fullerton.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- As the days leading up to Election Day
dwindle down, signs on both sides of the gay-marriage initiative are being
stolen, and in some cases even burned, sheriff's officials said.
Hector Lluen said that a "Yes" on Prop. 8 sign nailed to the front of his
Fair Oaks home door was stolen in the middle of the night.
"My family and I strongly believe that their acts are cowardly," Lluen said.
"It is not going to intimidate my family. We will continue to put up 'yes'
on Prop. 8 signs."
Some supporters of the vote "No" on Prop. 8 campaign said those stealing
signs are just hurting their own cause.

Arrests made in Roseville after Yes on Proposition 8
signs found in car
From David Richie:
Roseville police arrested a man and two women early today who were reportedly stealing "Yes on
Proposition 8" signs from residents' yards.
Officers recovered 53 signs from the suspects' vehicle - all in support of Proposition 8, said Dee Dee
Gunther, police department spokeswoman.
The arrests occurred about 12:32 a.m. after a resident in the 200 block of Sierra Boulevard spotted
someone taking a sign out of a neighbor's yard.
A few minutes later an officer spotted a green sedan, matching the description of the suspect vehicle in
the 700 block of Shasta Street. All four doors and the trunk were open and the officer watched as two
people walked to the car and placed something in the trunk. The car then drove away but was stopped by
police.
Police arrested Brian Joseph Greene (left photo), 18 of Roseville, Kacey Elizabeth Flieder (right photo),
18, of Sacramento and a 17-year-old girl from Roseville. The 18-year-olds were booked on suspicion of
possession of stolen property, conspiracy, petty theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The
17-year-old was cited and released to her parents.

SACTO 9-1-1 Q&A
Q: Is Mitchell Patterson from Lincoln Calif still
in prison for killing his Daughter on I-80 back
in 1993.
A: Mitchell Patterson remains in state prison,
almost two decades after he killed his
daughter by pulling her in front of a big-rig
truck.
Patterson, now 54, grabbed his 10-year-old
daughter, Andreana, and threw her in front of
a truck on Interstate 80 near Truckee in
March 1993.
During the trial in Nevada County, jurors heard
that Patterson wanted to kill himself and take
his daughter with him.
They also heard that Patterson -- a smallbusiness owner who once headed the Lincoln
chapter of Ross Perot's United We Stand
organization -- had a history of being abusive
to his wives.
Patterson is at the California Men's Colony in
San Luis Obispo.
