Good March everyone.
Riding season will be upon us before we know it
folks.
Hope all are looking forward to Chapter T’s
motorcycle tune up day at Fred and Peg Nichols.
We are looking forward to a full riding season.
As Ron Abate has been out of town, and in
order to help him out, a ride suggestion sheet
will be passed out at the March meeting.
Hopefully we’ll get these suggestions to Ron
and his staff as soon as possible.
Thanks to Denny and Joy Miller for hosting the last euchre party. Again a good time was
had by all that attended. On March 26, Fred and Bonnie Fish will host the last euchre
party for this year.
(Editor's Note: Fred and Bonnie have had unexpected issues arrise and have had to
reluctantly cancel the euchre party for March.)
A special Congrats go out to Denny and Joy Miller who are now the new Ohio District
MEC’s. Good Luck to both and hope for an easy transition for them.
We have a short time before our April’s fundraiser and dinner. Andie is working hard on
this event for our Chapter, please get your auction items to Andie as soon as possible and
don’t forget to sign up where you are able to help out. In order for Chapter T’s fundraiser
to be a success we need our members help.
There are a lot of personal things going on in everyone’s life now a days. And Jan and I are
no exceptions. During the next couple of months Jan, I and our family will be very busy. I
will be out of town attending to family matters. Jan’s daughter is getting married in North
Carolina in a few months. During all this we both have some medical issues that need
taken care of. That being said, we are still looking forward to riding many, many miles and
hours together with all of you.
Keep Warm and Safe and Think SPRING!

Greetings Folks,
I would like to talk about the Medic First Aid Class that I attended at G-2. Bill and Katie
Wilson were the Instructors and they did an excellent job. It’s always a good feeling to
freshen up on you first aid skills that you might need, not only on a motorcycle but
possibly at home, work or in your car… Another reason for the class was to keep my Levels
status current.
I also learned that if you carry a first aid kit on your bike that there are possibly not
enough items in there to really help at a scene….Before riding season starts and you’re
going over your bike inspection, open up that first aid kit if you have one(IF YOU DON’T,
GO BUY 2 OF THEM) and see what exactly is in it and think maybe what else you could
use….I was told that you need to supply more gauze pads and gauze wrapping to your kit.
Two things that is almost guaranteed to be used.
I would also like to remind you about the upcoming ARC and Trike courses available to you.
Check the Ohio website www.ohiogwrra.Rider Ed
drop down box to Scheduled
Courses. There are 9 ARC or TRC Rider Courses offered in April or May 2011. If interested,
complete and print the registration form and send to Asst. District Educator Bill Wilson
along with your class fee payable to “GWRRA of Ohio”. Fees must accompany the form to
assure your place in the class.
That’s all for now,

Well it’s time for the COLD weather to take a hike!!!
Time for you to get your machine ready to go.
Here are some tips from your technical coordinator:
Is your engine a-knockin’?
If you’ve ever heard a sharp metallic pinging sound coming from an engine, this is most
likely engine knock, also known as detonation. This happens when the air/fuel mixture
explodes before the spark plug has a chance to ignite it. This creates a shock wave that
reverberates through the engine and produces the pinging noise.
Detonation can be prevented in several ways. Try using a higher octane fuel. These fuels
don’t combust as easily and are more likely to ignite at the proper point during the engine
cycle. There are also fuel additives available from your local repair shop that can be used
to reduce or eliminate engine knock. Although it will affect your fuel economy, driving in
a lower gear is a temporary solution. This reduces excessive pressure in the cylinder
which is the cause of the premature ignition.
Listen to your brakes.
Your brakes have the ability to cry out to you if there’s a problem, usually long before they
fail. One sign that your brakes may be in trouble is a squealing or groaning noise. Most of
the time this means that it’s time to replace your brakes since this squeal is probably
coming from the wear indicator.
Squealing can also mean that your pads, calipers and rotors are not suited for each other.
Lower quality pads have abrasives that can cause minor squealing. Upgrading to premium
pads is one solution with a payoff of noise-free operation and longer life.
If you feel vibration when you’re driving or when you depress the brake pedal, this may be
your braking system’s way of telling you that you have a malfunctioning caliper. If you
think your brakes are trying to tell you something, see your mechanic.

Joke of the month!!!
The 100 MPH Goat.
Two Tennessee rednecks are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a
huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it.
The first hunter says, “Wow, that’s some hole; I can’t even see the bottom. I wonder how
deep it is.”
The second hunter says, “I don’t know, let’s throw something down and listen and see how
long it takes to hit bottom.”
The first hunter says, “There’s this old automobile transmission here, give me a hand and
we’ll throw it in and see. So they pick it up and carry it over and count one, and two and
three, and throw it in the hole.
They are standing there listening and looking over the edge and they hear a rustling in the
brush behind them. As they turn around they see a goat come crashing through the brush,
run up to the hole and with no hesitation and jumped head first into the hole.
While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole and trying to
figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up.
“Say there,” says the farmer, “you fellers didn’t happen to see my goat around here
anywhere, did you?”
The first hunter says, “Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago
and a goat came running out of the bushes doin’ about a hundred miles an hour and
jumped headfirst into this here hole!
The old farmer said, “That’s impossible, I had him chained to a transmission!”
That’s all Folks,

Fred and I want to say hello from warm and sunny Arizona.
We just returned from an overnight motorcycle trip. Along with the McGirrs and Daniels
we rode to Lake Havasu City and viewed the London Bridge. You will recall that in the
early 70's it was dismantled in England, shipped to AZ and reconstructed over a portion of
the Colorado River, thus creating a tourist attraction or tourist trap, take your pick. But
the ride was what it was all about. We saw some spectacular scenery and as always found
some good food along the way. WISH ALL OF YOU COULD HAVE BEEN ALONG!!!
P.S. Just for kicks we crossed over into California long enough to say we were there.
Now for the Birthdays and Anniversaries this month:
