You can support Awam by pledging to this 100km sundown ultramarathon which Jeffrey will participate in and all pledges will go directly to AWAM! This will be held on 25 June in Singapore. During the 3-days workshop which was attended by 23 persons, we spoke about issues like feminism, sexuality, sex and gender and human rights and also did training on facilitation. Not to forget—we had a lot of fun together visiting other organisations or watching a movie ! All in all we spent a good time and hope that the participants could take a lot of “food for thoughts” back home ! Some of the feedback received : The „aku siapa‟ video was an eye-opener and provided good information about the hijab and its historical origins in Malaysia. Gives alternative views on the hijab. A better understanding of aspects of the Quran pertaining to women. It‟s people who discriminate and not the Quran. There‟s a need to portray the gentler face of Islam especially (regarding compassion, care & concern of others) and the need to understand it in its context.
